DC police identify Kevin Booker as the man fatally shot by an officer during a Friday night incident on Reservoir Road.

WASHINGTON — DC police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed by an officer during an incident in the 4400 block of Reservoir Road, Northwest Friday night.

Police say they were responding to a residential alarm at the location around 6:47 p.m. They were reportedly aware that the person who triggered the alarm was the subject of an order of protection against the residence.

When they arrived, police could see the man — later identified as 41-year-old Kevin Booker — inside the home. According to police, they repeatedly tried to make contact with the man for over 20 minutes, telling him to get out of the home.

Police eventually entered the home through an unlocked door and continued to shout at the suspect.

When they were on the second floor, Booker reportedly lunged at an officer with a screwdriver in one hand and a knife in the other.

When Booker attacked, police say, an officer fired his gun.

Booker died after emergency personnel arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital.

On Saturday, police also revealed that another person living at the same location had an order of protection against Booker.

The officers who were involved in the incident were placed on administrative leave.

DC’s Internal Affairs Bureau’s Force Investigations Team is investigating the incident.

The US Attorney’s Office will also review the incident.

Anyone with more information about the incident should call police at (202) 727-9099 or by texting 50411.
