DC firefighters rescue critically injured man from apartment building fire

A man is in critical condition after being rescued from a burning apartment in Southeast DC on Saturday.

WASHINGTON — A man was taken to the hospital with what fire officials described as “critical life threatening injuries” after he was rescued from a burning  apartment in Southeast DC Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, the man was pulled out of an apartment on the second floor of the building in the 800 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast.

They have not indicated what might have caused the fire, but investigators have been asked to come to the scene.
