CLEVELAND (WJW) – A Dayton man, charged with killing a 16-year-old boy and the pregnant mother of his child, was arrested in Cleveland Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:45 p.m., state troopers tried to pull over a silver Chevrolet Equinox that was reportedly stolen and used in an aggravated robbery on Kinsman Avenue, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told the FOX 8 I-Team.

Investigators say the driver refused to stop, leading to a police pursuit.

With help from OSHP’s Aviation unit, the vehicle was tracked down to Phillips Avenue near Lakeview Avenue, where investigators say the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Nicole Cunigan Jr., got out and ran into nearby woods.

State troopers and Cleveland police officers secured the area during the search.

Just after 3 p.m., investigators say they found Cunigan in an abandoned house on Osceola Avenue. He was taken into custody and brought to the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Through fingerprints, officials identified Cunigan and learned he was wanted for murder by the Dayton Police Department.

As reported by FOX 8’s sister station WDTN, Cunigan was identified as the suspect in shootings on Shaftesbury Road, where 16-year-old Deante Johnson and 32-year-old Precious Taste were killed. Officials say Taste was pregnant with Cunigan’s child at the time.
