Daphne Guinness Channels French Synthpop Elegance on New Single ‘2B or Not 2B’ – Culture Fix

[ad_1]

Daphne Guinness reveals her first solo music since her sublime fourth album Sleep, released in 2024. The avant-garde pop talent has unveiled her new single 2B or Not 2B, written and produced by Daphne and co-produced by Malcolm Doherty, showcasing a new sonic style while maintaining Daphne’s distinctive and refreshingly original take on the world of pop.

Delving into tense electronic pop, 2B or Not 2B is a synth anthem crafted for the elegance of a Parisian dancefloor, with Daphne’s hypnotic vocal declaring “Être ou ne pas être ensemble…” over absorbing, high-energy synthesisers. The French language is beautifully employed throughout the track, perhaps inspired by its recording in Paris.

Daphne’s passion for art and literature is channelled in the titular question, drawing on Shakespeare’s Hamlet while also reflecting her discussions with the legendary scholar Harold Bloom on quiet existential reflections on the human condition.

The musician and fashion legend told Flaunt: “The video was made very quickly, then edited together beautifully by my friend John Byrne. From song inception to finished track and video took about two weeks.”

2B or Not 2B is the first taste of Daphne’s upcoming album, which we’re hoping will be arriving in 2026.
