The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index decreased 1.9% in April compared to the month prior, landing at 77.9, according to preliminary results for the month. The April figure was up 22.3% from a year ago. The current conditions component of the index fell 3.9% from the month prior, landing at 79.3, while the consumer expectations index fell 0.5% to 77.
