CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A memorial mass was held at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus in Chicopee to honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The event, attended by Chicopee police, fire department personnel, and community members, served as a solemn reminder of the tragic events that occurred more than two decades ago.
Mayor John Vieau emphasized the importance of first responders, stating, “It’s really about first responders and how they put themselves before everyone else, and I know that their prayers today were ready for the police and fire, read their prayers, and it’s about coming home at the end of the day.”
The annual mass brings people from all over to pray for those lost and to ensure the tragic event is never forgotten.
During the mass, attendees took time to remember the fallen heroes who worked tirelessly to save lives on that fateful day.
