GLASGOW, Del. (WPVI) — Community members and organizations will come together to honor Corporal Matthew “Ty” Snook, a 10-year veteran of the Delaware State Police who was killed while working overtime at a DMV near Wilmington.
Action News spoke with Blue Line Network, the latest nonprofit working to support Snook’s family during this difficult time.
“We ordered 3,500 stickers to go on cars. I would not be surprised if we run out around 4 o’clock,” said Darren McCarnan, co-founder of Blue Line Network.
On Saturday morning, the organization is hosting a Back the Blue event for Corporal Snook at William B. Keene Elementary School in Glasgow.
Memorial stickers will be available at no charge, and organizers are asking the community to donate respectfully.
“We want to emphasize to the community: all the money they donate goes directly to the family at the end of this event,” said Robert Quirk, also a co-founder of Blue Line Network.
Authorities say Snook was working overtime at the DMV in Minquadale when he was killed. After being shot, Snook pushed a DMV employee out of harm’s way and told them to run as the suspect fired again.

“Be there and support the family, the Snook family, during this tragic time. And also the brothers and sisters of the Delaware State Police – they are mourning the loss of their own,” said Quirk.
Saturday’s fundraiser will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers expect a large turnout and offered advice for those attending.
“Be patient, there’s a lot of people that want to support and give back. Second, very important – when cars get here, turn their rear defroster on. Warmer rear window, the better the stickers are going to stick,” McCarnan said.
Funeral services will take place Monday.
Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the University of Delaware Bob Carpenter Center.
All Christiana schools will move to remote learning that day, and the DMV in Minquadale will remain closed for all of next week.
