The San Francisco 49ers have added to their backfield, acquiring running back Brian Robinson Jr. from the Washington Commanders in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Robinson, 26, was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama and has been a steady contributor since entering the league. Over three seasons in Washington, he appeared in 41 games, rushing 570 times for 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In 2024, Robinson logged 799 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns on 187 carries (4.3 YPC), proving himself as a reliable inside runner with touchdown production.

For the 49ers, Robinson adds depth and physicality to a rushing attack that already features stars like Christian McCaffrey. For Washington, the move clears a crowded running back room while gaining a future draft asset.
