Cody Johnson: Leather follows the success of his 2021 album, Human: The Double Album, which included chart-topping hits “‘Til You Can’t” and “Human.”

“This round of 24 songs I have to say is the best round of songs I have ever recorded, and I feel like that’s the way it should be,” Cody said of Cody Johnson: Leather. “Each album should outdo the last one.”

Amongst the two dozen new tracks will be a duet with none other than Carrie Underwood, he divulged. “I actually just recorded a duet with her yesterday for my new album coming out,” Cody said during the CMT Hot 20 Countdown.

Last year, Cody announced that he planned to release three different albums between 2022 and 2023: a live album, a concept album, and a studio album. In December 2022, he released the live album Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live. While there’s no set release date yet for Cody Johnson: Leather, he hinted, “Maybe by the end of the year, maybe next year.”

Cody is currently on the road for his Cody Johnson & Friends Tour, which started in late January and goes through August. He then joins Luke Combs on his 2023 World Tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Cody is nominated for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Visual Media of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards for “‘Til You Can’t.”
