CMPD investigating fifth homicide in 36-hour period

The homicide is being investigated on North Tryon Street near W.T. Harris Blvd.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide on Tuesday.

The homicide happened near the intersection of North Tryon Street and W.T. Harris Blvd. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not say how the person was killed.

This is the fifth homicide being investigated by CMPD in the last 36 hours. The previous four were the results of shootings on Monday and Tuesday. Three of these homicides happened in north Charlotte while the other was in south Charlotte.

It’s unclear if the Tuesday homicide on North Tryon Street is connected to any of the four previous homicides.
