It’s been reported that an off-duty Cleveland police officer has been taken into custody following a shooting in a local elementary school parking lot.
Authorities are currently investigating a shooting that took place Riverview Elementary School in Painesville Township.
At this time the officer has not been named.
From FOX 8:
“At about 9:10 a.m., Riverview Elementary was placed on lockdown due to a domestic issue that began off-site and then carried into the parking lot of Riverview Elementary,” the district said in a statement. “During this dispute, a shot was fired near the vehicles involved in the parking lot, away from the school toward Madison Avenue. The shot was not fired in the direction of the school. As a result, no major injuries were reported.”
No injuries have been reported and the original dispute is said to have been between two adults.
If that’s not a wild enough story, FOX 8 also reports that the gunman was tased by a school resource officer. He’s been transported to a local hospital.
After a short lockdown, the school was reopened. Riverview Elementary School then took to social media to let parents know that they were able to pick up their children early if they wanted to.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
