According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, at around 8:17 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a crash between two vehicles in the 7200 block of Madison Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one of the involved drivers unresponsive.
Police said crews attempted to provide lifesaving measures, but the driver died at the scene.
Traffic Investigators with CHPD Traffic Unit are investigating the crash, and at this time, they said the evidence shows that alcohol may have been the cause of the crash. No arrests have been made at this point in the investigation.
CHPD stated the westbound lanes of Madison Avenue between San Juan Avenue and Fleetwood Drive will be closed during the investigation process.
“The Citrus Heights Police Department reminds all drivers to stay attentive to the roadway and other motorists and to use alternative transportation methods if they have been consuming alcohol,” CHPD said.
