Charlotte Hornets make first round of roster cuts – At The Hive

[ad_1]

Now that preseason is over, the Charlotte Hornets have started the process of trimming their roster down to 15 players. They announced the first handful of players to be cut, and there are no surprises.

Charlie Brown Jr., Harry Giles, and Keyontae Johnson are the first three players to be waived. Brown was really only here because he was salary filler in the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, so his days in purple are teal are likely to be over. Giles and Johnson were signed on camp deals, so there’s a good chance they end up with the Greensboro Swarm as that roster is finalized. Brown could too, but he was on a guaranteed NBA deal and is less tethered to the organization now that he’s been waived.

The Hornets are now at 16 players after they waived Duane Washington Jr. last week, meaning they have one more player to cut. DaQuan Jeffries, who was also part of that Knicks deal with Brown and Washington, is still here. He seems like the most likely player to get his walking papers in the next few days.

The Hornets have until Monday to finalize the roster.
