WASHINGTON — Veteran DC councilmember Charles Allen announced on Friday that he would run for reelection as Ward 6 Councilmember.
Allen has represented Ward 6 – which includes Capitol Hill and NoMa – since 2015.
“I’m excited to share that I’m running for re-election as your Ward 6 Councilmember! Together, we’ve worked hard for stronger schools, safer streets, affordable housing, economic opportunity, action on climate — and we’re not done yet,” Allen said.
In 2024, a group tried to have Allen recalled, alleging that he supported defunding the police and leniency on criminals, but it fell short of the signatures needed to have him removed early.
