Chanel Celebrates New High Jewelry Collection with Star-Studded Soirée

[ad_1]

Old Hollywood was made new last night, thanks to Chanel, who assembled the buzziest young names in entertainment for a Parisian-themed fete on one of tinseltown’s oldest back lots. The dinner party was held in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Gabrielle Chanel’s first — and only — high jewelry collection, Bijoux de Diamants, designed in 1932. The pop-up, planetarium-like exhibition included the archive pieces, as well as the new anniversary collection in a glimmering display.

“I wanted to return to the essence of 1932 and to harmonize the message around three symbols: the comet, the moon, and the sun. Each heavenly body shines with its own light,” said Patrice Leguéreau, Director of the Chanel Fine Jewelry Creation Studio.

On one of the bigger soundstages, Chanel took inspiration from Leguéreau and created a space filled with hanging clouds of baby’s breath, a ceiling of twinkling stars, and a giant silver moon.

Marion Cotillard, Karen O, Andra Day, Maggie Rogers, Jurnee Smollet, Kaitlyn Dever, Cazzie David, Choe Zhao, Whitney Peak, Grace Morton and more filled the tables with laughter, cheers and then dancing once Phoebe Bridgers surprised the audience by introducing an invigorating set from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
