PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Department of Public Health is warning travelers about a measles exposure at Philadelphia International Airport.

Officials say a person with measles passed through Terminal E on Thursday, February 12, 2026, between 1:35 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Anyone who was in the area during that time is urged to check their vaccination status and watch for symptoms.

Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air and can linger for up to two hours after an infected person leaves. Early symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash.

Health officials say there is no threat to the general public, but people who are not fully vaccinated should contact their healthcare provider about getting the MMR vaccine.

Anyone who develops symptoms through March 5 should contact their doctor immediately and mention the possible exposure.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A 9-year-old boy is recovering after being struck by a hit-and-run driver near his Southwest Philadelphia home Saturday afternoon.

The boy’s mother is now pleading for the driver to come forward.

“Turn yourself in, take accountability. That’s all I’m asking,” Kimyetta Demby said.

The crash happened around 12:22 p.m. Saturday on the 2200 block of South 56th Street, as the boy was walking home from the store. A neighbor’s Ring camera video captured the moments leading up to the crash.

“He had crossed the street and the car had come flying around the corner and hit him and then backed up and then went around him, tried to hit my uncle and pulled off,” Demby said.

Demby said she ran outside after hearing shouting.

“When I heard my uncle screaming I came to the door and that’s when I seen the commotion,” she said.

Neighbors who witnessed the crash said the sound was unforgettable.

“During the collision all you heard is doom. Two to three seconds later you hear him cry,” one neighbor said. “It’s a sickening sound.”

The video shows the boy falling to the ground before he was struck. His mother said he slipped on ice moments before impact, which may have prevented more serious injuries.

“I’m lucky that he slid because had he been standing up in the middle of the street still crossing, he probably would have flew, came down, cracked his neck or something like that,” Demby said.

The boy suffered a broken femur, cuts and bruises, and facial injuries. He was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has since returned home and faces months of physical therapy.

Neighbors said they were shocked the driver did not stop.

“Who in the world would just leave a boy in the middle of the street like that,” one neighbor asked. “Karma has a way of finding people like you.”

Police described the vehicle as a mostly burgundy 2010-2013 Honda Crosstour with a black passenger-side fender, green front passenger door, white rear passenger door and a bicycle rack on the roof. The driver is described as a male between 25 and 35 years old with short hair and a beard.

Demby said the experience has been overwhelming but is grateful her son survived.

“He just has a broken leg, a bunch of bruises, his face is messed up like bad. His back too,” she said. “It’s stressful. But I’m lucky that it wasn’t worse than what it is.”

Police urge anyone with information to contact investigators.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — It’s been months since a woman was fatally shot, with police saying she was not the intended target.

“She was happy go lucky. She was a very loving person, she was my baby. She was taken from us, brutally,” says Carole Woodlin.

The parents of Jasmine Johnson are still in disbelief over the loss of their daughter.

The 27-year-old was killed when someone opened fire along the 3100 block of West Montgomery Avenue in Strawberry Mansion.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025.

However, the bullets were not intended for her.

“Jasmine was an innocent bystander, caught in crossfire,” says Johnson’s sister, Leea Woodlin.

“She come outside to get some fresh air, then brutally taken away from us,” Carole Woodlin, Johnson’s mother, says.

Johnson’s family says that she was at that location helping a friend to take care of her grandchildren.

Sadly, Johnson died on her brother’s birthday, and was laid to rest on what would have been her 28th birthday.

“Not a day goes by that we don’t think about her,” says Carole.

“I still carry a picture of her in my car every day,” says Johnson’s father, Gregory Woodlin.

There is a $20,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

“Have a heart so that our family can try to heal and try to move forward,” says Leea.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A pipe burst andflooded a parking garage on the 1600 block of Callowhill Street.

Nearly 20 vehicles were submerged leaving drivers scrambling to save their cars.

Ashlee Case of Spring Garden said she realized something was wrong as soon as she walked into the garage.

“Just by walking in the entrance I saw the settled water right here and I immediately ran to see if my car was flooded and for sure it was,” Case said.

Case said her car which she had just gotten two days earlier was among those submerged after water began gushing down from the upper level of the garage.

“I just got my car two days ago and the minute I get my car this happens this feels like a curse,” she said.

Hoping to prevent further damage, Case attempted to drive her car through the water and out of the garage. She said she managed to get it out, but it ultimately needed to be towed.

“I opened my car door and my foot stepped into puddles I sat in water so my car is done,” Case said.

Another driver, Klark Johnson of Lancaster, said his car was parked behind Case’s and he also tried to retrieve his vehicle.

“I might try to get my keys and see if i can might do a little swimming,” Johnson said.

Johnson later said he was able to start his car and get it out.

“It was cold Iwas very grateful when I got to my car that i was able to turn it on and get it out of the water,” he said.

“I think I caught it just in time I hope, fingers crossed a little bit of water in the back,” he added.

Firefighters eventually responded to the garage but were unable to locate the valve on the private property to shut off the water.

Case said she hopes the issue is fixed quickly and expressed concern for other drivers who may not yet know their vehicles were damaged.

“Whatever is happening here needs to be fixed this is deplorable and I feel so bad for the peoples cars who are out here and dont know there cars are out there,” she said.

She added, “This is not a good valentines day gift this is not it.”

Johnson also referenced the timing of the flooding, saying, “Not the valentines but hey ya know adds a little spice.”

We have calls and emails out to both the owner of the garage and property management company but have not yet heard back.

The Philadelphia Water Department says the issue does not involve a city-owned water main or pipe. They say they are supporting and working to shut off water flow to the building.
