Queen guitarist Brian May is giving a preview of the in-the-works reissue of the band’s seminal sophomore album, Queen II.
In a video shared on social media, May takes viewers inside the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where he’s hard at work on the reissue. He showed viewers a “work-in-progress Dolby Atmos (surround) rebuild of ‘PROCESSION,’” which is the first song on the album.
“I’m inviting you in because I want you to be as excited as I am when this becomes available for streaming very soon, and when the Dolby Atmos Blue-Ray (sic) comes out,” May states with three exclamation marks. “It will sound about 50 times better than this.”
Queen’s Brian May Shares Behind-the-Scenes Clip From ‘Queen II’ Reissue
After the Dolby upgrade, he says listeners “will be effectively sitting inside the guitar ‘orchestra’” and that the album will sound like nothing before.
In June 2025, Queen reissued their self-titled debut, so this is in line with that development. As with the Queen II release, the reissue of the self-titled debut included a mastering with Dolby Atmos for the first time.
Dolby Atmos, according to Dolby’s official website, “has reinvented how entertainment is created and experienced, allowing creatives everywhere to place each sound exactly where they want it to go, for a more realistic and immersive audio experience.”
The website adds, “Whether you’re gaming, watching your favorite movie or show, or listening to that new track on repeat, Dolby Atmos transports you into a spatial sound experience that draws you in deeper, so you hear more and feel more.”
Queen II is the sound of a band realizing they don’t have to play small. It’s theatrical, layered, a little dangerous in its ambition. Instead of chasing tidy rock songs, Queen built something sprawling and dramatic, split into light and dark, stacked with harmonies that feel almost operatic. You can hear the risk in it. They weren’t aiming for safe. They were aiming for myth.
There’s a confidence running through Queen II that still feels electric decades later. It’s not just a great early album — it’s the moment Queen decided to become larger than life, and actually pulled it off.

The Detroit Tigers didn’t just add a pitcher on February 10. They brought back a piece of their identity.
By signing Justin Verlander to a one-year, $13 million contract, Detroit completed a full-circle reunion with one of the most iconic players in franchise history. It’s a move rooted in nostalgia, but driven by practicality.
And according to manager A.J. Hinch, it’s about much more than memories.
How the Contract Is Structured
Verlander’s deal is intentionally flexible.
One year, $13 million
$2 million base salary for 2026
$11 million deferred, beginning in 2030
That structure limits short-term payroll impact while allowing the Tigers to add a veteran arm they believe can still help them win meaningful games.
Verlander, who will turn 43 during the season, previously pitched for Detroit from 2005–2017, anchoring some of the most successful teams in club history.
The Numbers Still Matter
While Verlander is no longer the overpowering ace of his prime, his 2025 season showed he can still provide real value.
In 29 starts last year, he logged:
152 innings
3.85 ERA
52 walks (7.9% walk rate)
137 strikeouts (20.7% strikeout rate)
Hinch: Focused on Winning, Not Nostalgia
Hinch made it clear that the Tigers weren’t chasing a feel-good story — they were targeting a competitive edge.
“That’s a big addition in a lot of ways, namely the pitching side,” Hinch said via the Detroit Free Press. “My focus with him was entirely on what he can do to help us win on the mound. Obviously, he and I have history. He has a deeper history here with Detroit. From a pure influence standpoint, my conversations with him were: Here’s this organization as it is today, here’s how you can help us win. You’re joining a team who has learned how to win, and we need a little bump to take us a step forward.”
That last line says everything.
Detroit believes it’s close. Verlander isn’t here to carry the rotation, he’s here to elevate it.
Why This Move Makes Sense Now
The Tigers are no longer in teardown mode. They’ve built a foundation, learned how to compete, and now they’re looking for finishing pieces.
Verlander brings:
Veteran stability
Playoff experience
Rotation depth
Credibility inside the clubhouse
He doesn’t need to be dominant. He needs to be dependable and, at times, influential.
The Bottom Line
Justin Verlander’s return isn’t about reliving the past.
It’s about pushing the present forward.
With a team that believes it knows how to win, Detroit sees Verlander as the final nudge, the “little bump”, that can help turn progress into something more concrete in 2026.
The Detroit Tigers will be without one of their most quietly effective starters for the entire 2026 season.
On February 2, right-hander Reese Olson underwent right shoulder labral repair surgery, officially ruling him out for the year. It’s a tough blow for both Olson and a Tigers rotation that had come to rely on his steady presence whenever he was healthy enough to take the mound.
A Difficult End to a Long Struggle
For Olson, this surgery wasn’t sudden, it was the culmination of a frustrating stretch defined by recurring shoulder issues.
The 26-year-old missed significant time in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons, managing just 35 starts and 181 innings combined over those two years. Even when available, Olson was often pitching through discomfort, trying to stay on the mound while searching for answers.
Now, the Tigers finally have clarity, even if the answer comes with a heavy cost.
Olson Was Producing When Healthy
Despite the limited workload, Olson was effective when he pitched.
In 2025, he posted:
3.15 ERA
25 walks (8.8% walk rate)
65 strikeouts (22.8% strikeout rate)
68⅔ innings across 13 starts
Those numbers reinforced what the Tigers believed internally: Olson wasn’t just depth, he was a legitimate, reliable rotation arm when healthy.
Hinch: “It’s a Really Big Loss”
Manager A.J. Hinch didn’t sugarcoat the impact of losing Olson for the season.
“I feel for him. He’s had a really hard time,” Hinch said via the Detroit Free Press. “As much as we talk about the additions, it’s a really big loss. He’s sneaky underrated when it comes to people not talking about him a ton in our rotation, and when we’ve had him on the mound, he’s been really, really good. He’s still in the brace, and he’s going to have to shake your hand left-handed, but his spirits are fine. I think we got resolution with what’s been bothering him over the last 6–12 months, but I feel for him – because as excited as everybody is to get started, he’s had a rough last couple of weeks.”
That quote captures both sides of the situation, relief at finally identifying the issue, and heartbreak at the timing.
What It Means for the Tigers
Olson’s absence creates a significant innings gap, especially for a team that values stability and depth in its rotation. While Detroit has added arms and flexibility, losing a pitcher who consistently delivered quality starts when healthy forces adjustments.
It also underscores why the Tigers were so aggressive in adding rotation reinforcements this offseason.
The Bigger Picture
For Olson, the priority now is recovery, not rushing back, not pitching through pain, but giving himself a real chance at a clean reset. The Tigers believe the surgery addressed what had been nagging him for over a year, offering hope that 2027 could mark a true fresh start.
For now, though, the Tigers move forward without him, and with a clear understanding of just how much he’ll be missed.
Love songs are everywhere in classic rock, but some of the biggest hits weren’t written about some mystery muse. They were written for one very specific woman. In many cases, the relationship was intense, messy, romantic, or all three. These rock love songs came straight from real-life relationships, which may explain why they still hit decades later.
Rock Love Songs Inspired by Specific Women
“Sweet Child O’ Mine” – Guns N’ Roses
Axl Rose wrote this power ballad for his then-girlfriend Erin Everly. What started as a warm-up guitar riff from Slash turned into one of the biggest love songs of the ’80s. The lyrics were pulled directly from a poem Axl wrote about Erin. Their relationship didn’t last, but the song became a timeless arena anthem.
“Beth” – KISS
This softer side of KISS was originally inspired by a woman named Beck (Rebecca). Beck was the wife of one of Peter Criss’ bandmates when he was in Chelsea (pre-KISS). The name was later changed to “Beth,” but the theme remained the same: a musician apologizing for being gone too much. It’s one of the most unlikely love songs in hard rock history and one of KISS’s biggest hits.
“Oh Sherrie” – Steve Perry
Steve Perry wrote this hit for his girlfriend Sherrie Swafford. Unlike many love songs, he didn’t even change the name. The relationship inspired one of the biggest solo hits of his career, and Sherrie even appeared in the music video. The actual song doesn’t start until 2 minutes into the video, but the whole video is an amazing ’80s MTV time capsule.
“The Wind Cries Mary” – Jimi Hendrix
Ah, the mashed potato story. Jimi Hendrix wrote this rock love song after a fight with his girlfriend, Kathy Mary Etchingham. Hendrix and Mary got into a fight over her cooking. She threw pots and pans, stormed out, and when she returned home a couple of days later, Hendrix had written this song for her. Hendrix did not write a lot of songs with a soft side, making this song even more of a standout.
“Layla” – Derek and the Dominos
The song was written by Clapton about his massive obsession with Pattie Boyd, George Harrison’s wife at the time. Although Clapton and Harrison were very good friends, Clapton had an affair with Boyd… After George told Clapton, “take her,” he did. The two married, and George attended the wedding. Claton also wrote “Wonderful Tonight” about Boyd. Additionally, Harrison wrote “Something” about her. That’s quite the claim to fame!
Rock love songs often feel bigger than life, but the best ones usually start small. One person, one relationship, and one emotional moment is all it takes. Whether the romance lasted or crashed and burned, these classic love songs turned private stories into rock history.
Donielle Flynn has two kids, two cats, two dogs, and a love of all things rock. She’s been in radio decades and held down top-rated day parts at Detroit, Philadelphia, and Washington DC radio stations throughout her tenure. She enjoys writing about rock news, the Detroit community, and she has a series called “The Story Behind” where she researches the history of classic rock songs.
The three Democrats vying for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat agree that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has grown increasingly brutal under President Donald Trump, but they are sharply divided over whether the agency can be fixed at all.
Abdul El-Sayed, a former Wayne County public health director and progressive Democrat, is the only candidate calling for ICE to be abolished. U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, a center-left Democrat from Birmingham, says ICE should continue to exist but argues the agency needs major reforms and tighter oversight. And state Sen. Mallory McMorrow of Royal Oak also rejects abolition, saying ICE has a legitimate role but must be “vastly reformed.”
The dispute has turned ICE into a defining issue in the Democratic primary ahead of the Aug. 4 election. For Democrats nationally, the Senate seat is a must-in if the party is going to seize control of the chamber in November. That makes the Democratic primary all the more important as ICE continues to arrest, assault, and kill American citizens without recourse, while doing the same to undocumented immigrants at cruel and unprecedented levels.
El-Sayed calls ICE “irredeemable” and pushes abolition
For El-Sayed, the debate over ICE is a moral one. Following the federal law enforcement killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, El-Sayed said in a statement that ICE “cannot operate within the bounds of the Constitution or human decency — it must be torn down and immigration enforcement must be rethought from scratch”
Retraining won’t fix an agency that he says has “murdered two American citizens,” terrorized communities, and morphed into a para-military force that operates with impunity.
El-Sayed says the U.S. can have effective border security and immigration enforcement, but it can be done by dismantling ICE and rebuilding an alternative from “scratch.”
“We can have a safe and secure southern border. We can enforce immigration law,” El-Sayed said. “But ICE is not about that. ICE is a paramilitary force normalizing the use of government power on peaceful streets, in thrall to one man. They are using the pretext of immigration to weaponize against the laws and norms and mores of our democracy and our Constitution itself. And I believe that it ought to be abolished.”
“The only reason to deny this is political cowardice,” El-Sayed said.
McMorrow says ICE should exist, but must be “vastly reformed”
McMorrow, who entered the Senate race as a next-generation Democrat, has taken a middle position. She supports keeping ICE but wants to force it back toward its stated mission through oversight, funding leverage, and stricter accountability.
“Yes, and it needs to be vastly reformed,” she responded.
McMorrow argued ICE is essential to keep Michigan residents safe.
“Michigan is a border state,” McMorrow said. “We need Immigration and Customs Enforcement to do the work of what and who comes across the border. That should be its job. Its job should not be to unleash on communities to terrorize people, to go after people whose skin color isn’t exactly right, or who have an accent.”
McMorrow has also supported using Congress’s spending power to force the agency to change. She has laid out specific policy changes that she wants to see tied to reforming ICE.
In a Jan. 27 campaign video, she said the agency has “gone completely rogue” and urged Congress to leverage DHS funding votes to demand meaningful changes, including firing recently hired agents who don’t meet basic law enforcement standards, requiring clear identification and banning masks, ending warrantless home entries, and ensuring strict use-of-force policies with real consequences for violations.
McMorrow also said ICE should prioritize dangerous criminals rather than detaining people without criminal convictions, and called for protections for sensitive locations like schools and churches as part of an overhaul.
Stevens backs reforms and Noem impeachment after voting for “gratitude” measure
“Secretary Noem has refused to answer basic questions to Congress about ICE operations,” Stevens said in a Jan. 21 statement announcing her support for Noem’s impeachment.
On Jan. 25, Stevens said she would co-sponsor legislation aimed at redirecting what she described as ICE’s “$75 billion slush fund” to state and local law enforcement programs.
But Stevens’s record includes a vote that has been a turnoff for many voters. In June 2025, she broke with most Democrats and voted in favor of a House resolution that “expresses gratitude to law enforcement officers, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, for protecting the homeland.”
Her position on ICE has changed as voters have become increasingly incensed with the agency’s violent and often unconstitutional tactics.
In a statement following the death of Pretti, Stevens said “ICE is out of control” and called for stronger accountability, urging federal agents to listen to local officials and leave Minneapolis. Her statement described the repeated shootings and routine use of force as “flat-out wrong and against everything this country stands for.”
Corporate PAC money divides the field
The three Democrats are also split over campaign funding.
Her support for Israel has drawn criticism from many of the same progressives who are calling for the abolition of ICE.
As Stevens says she’s the right Democrat to confront Trump’s second-term immigration crackdown, her earlier approach to the president’s impeachment has raised red flags. Stevens was the last Michigan Democrat in Congress who had not yet committed to supporting an impeachment inquiry.
Public opinion shifts as ICE gets more brutal
The candidates’ differing approaches to ICE come as national polling suggests many Americans are fed up with the agency’s brutality and lack of accountability.
Sixty-five percent of Americans now say ICE has “gone too far” in enforcing immigration laws, an 11-point jump since last summer, according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll. Six in 10 disapprove of the job ICE is doing, and nearly the same share says the agency is making Americans less safe. A 59% majority also say mass protests against ICE are mostly legitimate.
The shift is being driven largely by independents and Democrats, while Trump’s approval rating stands at 39%, with 56% disapproving and 51% strongly disapproving, the poll found.
The poll numbers suggest that Democrats who are weak on ICE will have trouble in the primary elections.
While El-Sayed has the longest and most consistent record of opposing ICE’s tactics, McMorrow and Stevens are ratcheting up their rhetoric.
Whether their positions on ICE will become a significant factor in the election won’t be known until August.
A new Emerson College Polling survey suggests the primary remains wide open, with McMorrow narrowly leading Stevens and El-Sayed, while a large share of voters remain undecided. The Jan. 29 poll of likely Democratic primary voters found 22.4% backing McMorrow, 16.5% supporting Stevens, and 15.9% favoring El-Sayed, while 37.9% said they were undecided and 7.3% backed other candidates.
As the Detroit Lions continue to search for answers at cornerback, one national voice believes the solution could come from Tampa Bay.
Fox Sports NFL reporter Greg Auman recently predicted that the Lions could land Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean in free agency, a move that would immediately upgrade Detroit’s secondary as the team pushes deeper into its Super Bowl window.
Dean, 29, put together one of the more impressive seasons of any defensive back in the league in 2025. After agreeing to an $8 million pay cut to remain with the Buccaneers, he turned around and delivered a career-defining year, finishing with three interceptions and two forced fumbles.
The analytics loved it.
Pro Football Focus graded Dean as the No. 5 cornerback in the NFL and ranked him as the No. 5 overall free agent at any position, making him one of the most intriguing defenders set to hit the market.
Why Auman Sees Dean as a Lions Fit
Auman’s prediction isn’t just about talent, it’s about timing.
Detroit is firmly in win-now mode, and Dean fits the exact profile of a free agent the Lions have targeted under Brad Holmes: proven, productive, and still in his prime.
Dean previously earned $12 million per year in Tampa Bay, and while the Buccaneers would welcome him back, his situation is unique. He’s spent his entire NFL career playing for Todd Bowles, and free agency would represent his first real opportunity to test the open market.
That’s where Detroit enters the picture.
The Lions have the cap space, roster stability, and urgency to justify a significant investment at cornerback. Pairing Dean with D.J. Reedwhile allowing Terrion Arnold to continue developing would give Detroit a more balanced, reliable secondary, something that proved critical late in the 2025 season.
A Move That Fits Detroit’s Culture
What stands out most about Dean’s profile is how he responded to adversity. Instead of coasting after restructuring his contract, he elevated his game.
That matters in Detroit.
The Lions have consistently prioritized players who bet on themselves, embrace accountability, and respond when challenged. Dean’s 2025 season checked every one of those boxes.
If Tampa Bay can’t match the market, or if Dean decides he’s ready for a new chapter, Greg Auman’s prediction points to Detroit as a very real landing spot.
For a team chasing a championship, adding one of the league’s top-graded cornerbacks would send a clear message: the Lions are all-in.
W.A.S.P. launches their 1984 to Headless tour on Sept. 10 in El Cajon, California. KK’s Priest joins them. The 52-date run ends on Oct. 31 in Anaheim, California, and will be showcasing tracks from the band’s first four records.
Sets will draw from 1984’s W.A.S.P., 1985’s The Last Command, 1986’s Inside the Electric Circus and 1989’s The Headless Children. Frontman Blackie Lawless said the stage show recreates those album covers in living form.
“Playing those songs from those first four albums in a combined package like this is something we’ve never attempted before,” said Blackie Lawless in a statement, as reported by Parade. “In addition to the songs, the entire stage show will look like the album covers from those records will come alive… right before your eyes!”
The Los Angeles-based group started in 1982 and released their self-titled debut two years later. Their first five years established them as shock rock pioneers with theatrical shows. W.A.S.P. has sold millions during their 44-year run.
KK’s Priest features former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing and ex-vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens. Downing departed Judas Priest in 2011, then started KK’s Priest in 2019. They dropped their second album, The Sinner Rides Again, in September 2023.
“We will be teaming up together with metal legends W.A.S.P. and with over 40 shows, this is going to be an epic metal and steel tour featuring lots of Priest classics,” said K.K. Downing in a statement, as per Sonic Perspectives.
Blackie Lawless intends to bring the show to Europe and other territories in 2027, according to Exclaim. The group finished their first U.S. tour in 10 years with a sold-out December 2022 show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.
Stops span Montreal, Ottawa, Pickering, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Coquitlam in Canada. U.S. cities include Dallas, Boston, New York, Milwaukee and Las Vegas.
Tickets go on sale to the public Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. local time. Presales began Feb. 11 at noon. VIP tickets can be purchased through the band’s website.
The Detroit Lions officially saw the contracts of defensive tackle D.J. Reader and linebacker Alex Anzalonevoid on Thursday, according to Spotrac, leaving behind $4,929,000 in dead cap for the 2026 season.
Both veterans are 31 years old and are now set to hit the open market ahead of free agency next month. Despite the voided contracts, Spotrac notes that both players are expected to draw solid interest once teams are able to negotiate.
For Detroit, the dead cap charge is manageable but notable as the front office continues to balance roster flexibility with long-term cap planning. Reader and Anzalone were key contributors during their time in Detroit, particularly as tone-setters for Dan Campbell’s defense.
With free agency approaching, the Lions will now have to decide whether to pursue either veteran on a new deal or allow both players to move on as they reshape the roster for the 2026 season.
Downloads of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses skyrocketed 12,166 percent after the Jan. 30 premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe in Japan, according to The Gamer. The 1987 track jumped in the rankings after the movie revealed the song as its ending theme.
Bandai Namco Filmworks kept the ending theme secret until the movie’s premiere. On Feb. 2, the company released a trailer featuring the song. That video has racked up more than one million views. The statistics cover a nine-day period after the theatrical release, meaning the spike happened within days once fans learned about the music choice.
Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is the second movie in a trilogy based on creator Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Hathaway’s Flash novels from 1989 and 1990. The first movie came out in 2021. Fans waited five years between these two films.
The new movie has pulled in over $9.83 million at the box office in its first eleven days. Bandai Namco Filmworks confirmed plans for a worldwide theatrical release, but premiere dates outside Japan haven’t been announced yet. Automaton wrote, “Interestingly, hype for the film has also had an effect elsewhere.”
The song’s age makes its resurgence unusual. At 38 years old, it competed with current hits.

Whenever I got the chance, I tested each casino site out, playing games while relaxing in my hotel room, travelling on buses, and waiting for trains.
I also took time to explore America — catching a Bulls game in Chicago, visiting Coney Island in New York, and enjoying the Newark Museum of Art in New Jersey.
When it came to online casino gaming, I was a bit wet behind the ears. I’ve played at many land-based casinos but rarely ventured online.
To get started, I asked locals in bars for their top casino site recommendations. A couple of names kept popping up, so I checked those out.
For the rest of this review, I’ll walk you through my personal experience at the top 5 casino sites, share advice, and answer common online gambling questions.
Games I played: Golden Buffalo, Realm of Gods, and A Night With Cleo
Hours I spent testing: 2
Bonus I claimed: $3,000 welcome bonus + 30 free spins
How I did: Lost $80
I actually discovered Slots.lv by chance while waiting out a long layover. I’d grabbed a drink at one of those dimly lit airport bars when the woman next to me struck up a conversation. We bonded over our shared travel fatigue, and somewhere between sipping gin and complaining about delays, she mentioned she liked to pass the time with a bit of online gambling.
Her go-to real money online casino? Slots.lv. She said it wasn’t flashy, but it always paid on time, and she once managed to double her deposit in under an hour. That stuck with me. A few days later, I figured why not – signed up, made a crypto deposit, and grabbed the welcome bonus.
This safe online casino website has around 500 games, which isn’t massive, but I liked the focus. It’s mostly slot machines, and a good chunk of them are jackpot-based.
I started with Golden Buffalo, which had a satisfying pace and decent visuals. I also tried 777 Deluxe and gave A Night With Cleo a spin just to see what the fuss was about – it’s definitely one of the more exciting titles I’ve played.
What I liked:
Who doesn’t love bonuses?
Effortless crypto onboarding. Crypto-savvy is not a word I would use to describe myself, but Slots.lv made it super easy to get started. Signing up and claiming the bonus took just a few minutes, and everything from deposits to gameplay ran smoothly.
Curated game library. Though not huge, it felt well-organized—no endless scrolling, just a solid mix of the best online slots and a few live dealer games if you’re in the mood for something more interactive.
Another highlight was the excellent and varied promotions. There’s a whole section dedicated to bonuses, with separate offers for crypto and fiat players. It felt like no matter how often you play, there’s always some kind of perk waiting.
What I didn’t like:
Not quite the real thing (but also not bad)
No poker! If you’re a fan looking for tournaments or real-time multiplayer action, you won’t find it here. Slots.lv only offers video poker, which feels a bit like an afterthought compared to the rest of the site. The graphics are fine, but it doesn’t deliver the same fun.
You have to create an account just to browse the full site. It’s a small thing, but I was slightly annoyed because I personally like to get a feel for the layout and games before committing to a sign-up. Still, once you’re in, it’s a pretty seamless experience.
Games I played: Lair of the White Tiger, Fury of Zeus, Texas Hold’em
Hours I spent testing: 4
Bonus I claimed: $3,000 combo bonus
How I did: Won $100
Ignition, it seems, is a widely acclaimed online casino that’s been in operation since 2016. I could instantly see why so many people recommended it as soon as I landed on the homepage: All new online casino players are entitled to a $3,000 ‘combo’ welcome bonus.
What’s a combo welcome bonus? In this case, it’s one where the bonus funds are split 50/50 between the poker room and all the other casino games. The reason for this is that Ignition boasts more traffic than any other poker site. Overall, it is the best casino online for poker players.
Of course, it’s much, much more than just a poker site. It has more than 400 casino games in total, including Lair of the White Tiger, which has a $50,000 jackpot.
Enticed by the intriguing name (and the massive jackpot slots), it’s the game I tried first, using $20 of my online casino real money bonus funds (I deposited $75 to trigger the offer). This game comes with an x3800 potential win, the graphics are super cool – and I banked a cool $300 after triggering 8 free spins.
Not a bad start, huh?
Unfortunately, my luck didn’t hold when I spent the next 20 minutes playing Fury of Zeus.
Before I finished, however, I decided to enter a poker tournament at close to midnight, since this is what this top online casino is so well-known for. Playing Texas Hold’em on an anonymous table suited me just fine, and I made a clean $100 profit here overall.
What I liked:
Will you take on a tiger and win?
Quick and fuss-free setup. Ignition is a no-nonsense, fuss-free top online casino site that makes everything so easy. I couldn’t quite believe that it only took me 2 minutes to get started once I’d first arrived on the homepage.
Seamless mobile app. I like the fact that there’s an app, too. I downloaded and installed it, and the online casino games are the same as they are on the desktop.
Generous rewards program. There’s also a rewards program here called Ignition Miles. It impressed me that a casino site could be so generous as to reward its customers every time we play a casino game.
What I didn’t like:
More withdrawal options would be nice
Limited withdrawal options and fees. I’d also like to see a few more withdrawal options added to the slender list of payment methods. I have no complaints about how consistent the payout process is, but there are also a few minor transaction fees to be aware of. This means you may have to be tactical with regard to how often you deposit and withdraw (which can be a tad frustrating).
A few more online gambling real money games wouldn’t hurt. There are just over 400 in total. While Ignition manages to pack a lot of variety into its library, I can definitely see that—over time—you might get tired of playing the same online casino games.
Third Online Gambling Real Money Site I Tried: BetOnline
Games I played: Ultimate Golden Dragon Inferno, European Roulette, Multi-Hand Blackjack, Jack Deluxe Potter
Hours I spent testing: 4.5
Bonus I claimed: 100 free spins
How I did: Won $180
BetOnline was the first stop on my casino site tour — and it ended up setting the standard. I signed up while waiting for a delayed train, thinking I’d kill some time with a few reels and maybe a hand or two of blackjack.
Three hours later, I was still playing, sipping lukewarm coffee, and realizing I’d actually found something special.
The signup process was seamless, and the interface (while definitely designed with serious bettors in mind) didn’t take long to figure out. Once I made my first deposit and claimed my free spins, I jumped into Ultimate Golden Dragon Inferno, one of BetSoft’s most popular slots.
A couple of spins in, and I’d already doubled my starting bet.
From there, I moved into some single-zero European roulette and finished up with a few of the best online casino games of multi-hand blackjack, where the pace was quick, and the interface was smooth.
What I liked:
Trump Meme? Seriously???! I’m impressed
It comes fully loaded with everything you need. BetOnline has the best online slots, table games, a sprawling sportsbook, a cutthroat poker app, and one of the cleanest live casino setups I’ve ever encountered. Even if you’re only here for the slots or live blackjack, knowing you can dabble in poker tournaments or sports betting all in one place is a major plus.
The crypto cash-out process is just as impressive. I tested it with Ethereum, but there were over a dozen other accepted forms of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Cash and LTC. The funds hit my wallet in under an hour, and support was responsive, even during peak hours.
Mix of both high-stakes and low-stakes games. I never felt out of place betting small, and the transition between game types was fast and smooth across both PC and mobile.
What I didn’t like:
More filters inside each category would improve navigation
The design is a bit utilitarian. It’s not ugly, just dense. There’s a lot packed into every page, and the navigation just isn’t as intuitive as some of the more modern, mobile-first casinos out there. It works, but it’s not always pretty.
Boring slots. The variety tended toward the more traditional side. You’ll find plenty of familiar mechanics, but don’t expect tons of cinematic or storyline-driven games.
Next Real Money Online Casino I Tried: Super Slots
Games I played: Fruit Train Express, Triple 7s, and Blazing Buffalo
Hours I spent testing: 3
Bonus I claimed: 300 free spins
How I did: Won $200
The sheer scale of Super Slots is what hits you first—they’re sitting on 1,800+ games, which makes most other casinos look like a corner convenience store. It’s heavy on the slots, naturally, with nearly 1,500 titles, but they haven’t ignored the rest. I noticed about 80 live dealer tables and over 70 table games, so it feels less like a niche site and more like a full-blown digital floor.
I spent about three hours digging into the catalog to see if the quality held up against the quantity. I started with Fruit Train Express for some nostalgia, moved over to Triple 7s, and eventually found myself stuck on Blazing Buffalo. It’s got that high-energy, classic feel that I usually go for when I’m testing the waters.
Super Slots definitely has a more expansive vibe than I’m used to, but for a long session, having that much variety kept things from getting repetitive.
What I liked:
With a staggering selection of games, you’ll never run out of options to explore
Massive Library: The catalog here is genuinely staggering—we’re talking over 1,800 games in total. It’s a slot lover’s fever dream with more than 1,500 titles dedicated just to the reels, but they haven’t neglected the classics either. With 80 live dealer tables and over 70 table games, it feels like you’re walking into a massive Vegas floor rather than just clicking through a website.
Over 20 payment options: I was surprised by how flexible the banking is. They support 23 different deposit options, including 17 specific cryptocurrencies for the tech-forward crowd. When it’s time to cash out, the variety stays strong with 20 payout options, maintaining that same heavy focus on the 17 crypto methods to keep things moving fast.
Well-organized lobby: Despite having thousands of games that could easily turn into a chaotic mess, the site is surprisingly tight and easy to navigate. Everything is well-accounted for, and I really appreciate that you can see the exact number of games listed under each category.
What I didn’t like:
The initial 300 free spins bonus feels a bit thin for a welcome offer
Skinny welcome bonus: It felt a little light compared to the rest of the site’s scale, coming in at just 300 free spins. That said, they do try to smooth things over with some pretty inviting ongoing offers once you’ve officially joined the fold.
No e-wallet payment options: For a site that boasts over 20 ways to move your money, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher that not a single one is an e-wallet. It’s a notable gap in an otherwise very modern and expansive payment setup.
Games I played: Cat’s Soup, Lady Lucky Gun, Eldritch Runes, Knights of the Gridiron, Poker Bet Blackjack
Hours I spent testing: 3.5
Bonus I claimed: 260% deposit match + 40 free spins
How I did: Lost $25
Some online casinos have a theme. Some don’t. Some lean so far into the theme that you don’t know if you’re trying to gamble online or trying to roll a natural 20 to cast an invisibility spell in a dragon’s lair.
Shazam falls into that last category.
As you might expect from the name, magic is the theme here, and they go all the way with it. From the very first moment you join, you’ll be expected to choose a “light” side or “dark” side, and the Witcher-style warlock will follow you from page to page.
I give them points for personality, but it’s a bit annoying when you’re just trying to find a new bonus buy slot to play.
Once you get used to all the song and dance, though, you’ll find there’s actually a pretty fantastic casino hiding in here.
What I liked:
Say what you will about wizards, but they apparently know how to take care of their friends.
The VIP page truly stands out. The benefits are incredible, seeming to combine all other VIP programs into one big offer, including cash bonuses, cash back, huge match bonuses, no bet limits, and birthday bonuses. With only five levels, reaching the full value is quite easy. Even days later, this program truly sticks with me.
There are more titles than you could ask for on Shazam. These include the rare ones that most of the best gambling sites don’t have. Plus, everything is well organized and wrapped in a cute wizarding world-ish skin for those who dig fantasy themes.
Excellent banking options. They accept PayPal, Interac, Apple Pay, and nearly a dozen cryptocurrencies, making deposits and withdrawals very convenient.
What I didn’t like:
I have to cast welcome spells? Can’t I just get some free money?
The wizard theme is a bit much. I don’t mind the personality, but it comes at the expense of clarity. There were several times I didn’t know what a button or feature would do because the site labeled it as a “spell” instead of a bonus. It gets a little frustrating.
The payout options are a bit scanty. I only got Bitcoin, card, and bank wire. An e-wallet option and more cryptocurrency choices would have been better for improved flexibility and convenience.
Here’s a quick look at the top gambling sites, highlighting their key features and what makes each one stand out.

Top Online Casinos That Pay Real Money – Our Ranking Criteria
We ranked the best rated online casinos in the review based on the following criteria:
Licensing
We only included real money gambling sites that are properly licensed by trusted regulatory bodies. A legit license is the bare minimum. It shows that the best online casinos play by the rules, protect your data, and ensure fair gaming through third-party audits. If a site didn’t meet these standards, it didn’t make our list.
Game Variety
We made sure to narrow down our list to include the best online gambling sites with a) the best games, b) the newest games, and c) the most game variety. Whether you prefer to play games like poker, online blackjack, roulette, sports betting options, or whatever else, there’s something here for everyone, regardless of what your favorite online casino games are.
Sports Betting
We also looked at whether the best online gambling sites go beyond casino games and offer a solid sportsbook. Many of the top contenders have full betting suites with markets on football, basketball, UFC, esports, and more. Whether you’re into parlays, props, or live bets, these safe online casinos make it easy to switch between casino and sports whenever the mood hits.
Casino Bonuses
The best real money online casino bonuses, such as first deposit bonuses and free spins, make our time spent playing casino games so much better. We’ve chosen the best gambling sites online with the most generous bonuses and promo codes in terms of the size and regularity of the offers, as well as their wagering requirements.
Payment Methods
We firmly believe that the key to a good online gambling site isn’t just the games and the bonuses, it’s also the overall user experience. To that end, we added top-rated online casino sites that offer a good variety of banking options so that most players can deposit and withdraw via their preferred methods, with both fiat and crypto gambling sites.
Customer Support
Exceptional customer service is important for the best online gambling experience. We selected the most trusted online gambling sites that provide reliable support via email, live chat, and phone. We also considered the responsiveness and helpfulness of their support teams, ensuring that players receive timely and competent assistance whenever needed.
Security Measures
A safe and secure environment is essential at top-rated online casinos. Our list includes the best online gambling sites that employ advanced security protocols such as SSL encryption, verified fairness through regular audits, and strict data protection policies.
Mobile Gameplay
The best online casinos should work just as smoothly on your phone or tablet as they do it does on a desktop. We looked for mobile gambling sites with responsive designs, fast load times, and intuitive navigation, whether you’re spinning slots on the bus or placing live bets from the couch.
Is Online Gambling Safe?
The best online gambling sites for real money are 100% safe as long as you sign up with a fully licensed gambling site.
When a gambling site is fully licensed, you can be sure that they’ve taken the time to secure their website so that your details are protected, and you can also be sure that their games are not rigged.
Real money gambling sites that aren’t licensed can be safe, too, but you run the risk of them “going rogue” and taking your money without paying you your winnings. It’s a big unknown.
How to Recognize a Safe Online Casino
Here’s what to look for at the most trusted real money online gambling sites:
Licensing: All legit online casinos are licensed by an official authority and can only operate once they meet certain standards. Licensed and secure online casino sites consistently inspire more confidence among players, as they must adhere to strict regulations around fairness and security.
Encryption: The best online casino sites use SSL encryption, which keeps personal details (like passwords and payment info) secure. A padlock icon in the browser or a URL that starts with “https://” are good indicators that the site is protected.
Two-Factor Authentication: Many legal online casinos offer an extra layer of security by sending a code to a user’s phone upon login. This added step enhances account protection and minimizes unauthorized access.
Fair Online Gaming Practices: Random Number Generators (RNGs) ensure that games offered by top-rated online casinos are truly random and not rigged. Reputable gambling sites typically mention third-party audits by firms like eCOGRA or iTech Labs. These certifications are often listed on the site’s “About Us” or footer sections.
Customer Support: 24/7 customer support is a must at real money online casinos. Whether it’s live chat, email, or a detailed help center, the best platforms ensure players can get assistance whenever they need it. Some even offer phone support, which is a standout feature.
Responsible Gaming Tools: Some of the best gambling sites offer tools that help players stay in control, like deposit limits, session timers, or self-exclusion options. These features are a strong sign that the real money online casino prioritizes user well-being and takes safer gambling seriously.

When engaging in online gambling, the security of your financial transactions is crucial. Choosing the right payment method can protect your funds and personal information.
Below, we outline several trusted payment options available on the best gambling sites, emphasizing their security features.
Credit and Debit Cards: Credit and debit cards, such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, are staples for online fund transfers. They come with built-in fraud protection, encryption technologies, and the option to dispute charges, making them a secure and convenient choice for online gambling.
E-Wallets: E-wallets like PayPal, Skrill, and Neteller provide an additional layer of security by keeping your bank details separate from the gambling site. Transactions are not only swift but also secure, thanks to advanced encryption and easy-to-track transaction histories.
Cryptocurrencies: Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin offer a high degree of privacy and security. These digital currencies operate independently of traditional banks and are encrypted, significantly reducing the risk of fraud and identity theft.
Bank Transfers: For those transferring larger amounts, bank transfers are a reliable option. Though they may take longer to process, the security measures in place – such as continuous monitoring by anti-fraud teams – ensure that your transactions are safe and traceable.
Prepaid Cards: Prepaid cards, including options like Paysafecard, provide a secure way to fund your gambling without risking overspending. Since they’re preloaded with a set amount of money and don’t require personal banking information, they’re an excellent choice for those concerned with privacy.

Real Money Online Gambling Websites VS. Crypto
Online gambling has changed over the years, offering platforms that deal in both traditional currency and cryptocurrencies. Each has its unique draws, from the stability of fiat to the innovation of crypto.
Here, we’ll delve into why many gamblers still prefer using real money to play casino games online.
Stability – One of the biggest draws of real money gambling is the stability it offers. Traditional currencies like the USD, EUR, or GBP are generally stable compared to the often volatile cryptocurrency.
This means the value of your wins remains fairly consistent, providing predictability in managing your funds and planning your gambling budget.
Regulation – Real money gambling is subject to strict regulations enforced by various governmental bodies. These regulations guarantee that real money online casinos adhere to standards that ensure fairness, transparency, and player safety. This regulatory framework provides a safety net for gamblers, offering recourse in cases of disputes or malpractices.
Universal Acceptance – Fiat money is widely accepted at the best online casinos for real money without the need for any conversion, making it a hassle-free option for gamblers. You can jump right into games without navigating the complexities of cryptocurrency exchanges. This ease of use makes real money gambling a go-to for many, especially those not familiar with the nuances of digital currencies.
Accessibility – Top real money online casinos are generally more user-friendly, particularly for gambling novices. There’s no need to understand blockchain technology or manage a digital wallet. Plus, traditional payment methods like credit cards, bank transfers, and e-wallets are not only widely accepted but also come with built-in consumer protections that are absent in most crypto transactions.
Online Gambling Bonuses & Promotions Explained
A real money online casino bonus is usually a free offer that gives you the chance to gamble online without risking your own money. It comes in the form of a deposit bonus, a reload bonus, free spins, and more, and it’s available at all legit gambling sites.
Types of Casino Bonuses
While they seem straightforward, understanding how these bonuses work and their associated terms is crucial to maximizing their value. Here are the most common ones you’ll encounter at most of the best gambling sites in the United States:
Welcome Bonuses
Welcome bonuses are offered to new players when they sign up and make their first deposit at top honest online casinos. They come as a percentage match of the deposit, such as a 100% match up to a specific amount.
No Deposit Bonuses
No deposit bonuses allow players to claim free money or spins without funding their accounts. These are ideal for beginners wanting to try a real money casino site without financial commitment. However, these bonuses often have strict wagering requirements and withdrawal limits.
Free Spins
Some of the best gambling sites often include free spins in welcome packages or as standalone promotions. For example, a casino might offer 50 free spins on a specific slot game upon registration or deposit.
Cashback Bonuses
Cashback bonuses refund a percentage of a player’s losses over a specific period. For instance, a casino might offer 10% cashback on losses incurred during a week.
Reload Bonuses
Reload bonuses are similar to welcome bonuses but are offered to existing US players to encourage additional deposits. They often provide a smaller percentage match compared to welcome bonuses.
Loyalty and VIP Rewards
Loyalty programs allow players to earn points, which can be redeemed for cash, spins, or other perks. They provide exclusive benefits like higher withdrawal limits and personalized support.
What To Look Out for in Online Casino Real Money Bonuses
While the best gambling site bonuses are enticing, it’s important to read the fine print. Watch for:
Bonus Validity: Bonuses usually have an expiration date, requiring players to use them within a certain timeframe.
Game Restrictions: Some bonuses can only be used on specific games, like slots or live casino games.
Withdrawal Caps: No deposit and free spin bonuses often limit how much you can withdraw from winnings.
Understanding Wagering Requirements
Wagering requirements determine how many times a player must wager the bonus amount (or sometimes the bonus and deposit) before they can withdraw any winnings. For example, a $50 bonus with a 20x wagering requirement means you must bet $1,000 before withdrawing.
Pay attention to how games contribute to wagering requirements. Slots often contribute 100%, while table games like blackjack might only contribute 10%-20%. Some of the best gambling sites also exclude certain games entirely. Choosing bonuses with lower wagering requirements can make it easier to cash out your winnings.
Tips for Using the Best Online Casino Real Money Sites
Gambling online for real money can be thrilling, but to maximize your chances of success, you need more than basic strategies. Advanced players rely on these tactics to gain an edge.
1. Manage Your Bankroll Like a Pro
While everyone talks about setting a budget, professional players use advanced bankroll management techniques. For example, they calculate their “risk of ruin” to ensure they can weather losing streaks without going bankrupt. It’s recommended to wager no more than 1%-2% of your total bankroll on a single bet or hand.
2. Play Low-Volatility Games When Meeting Wagering Requirements
Meeting bonus wagering requirements can be challenging. Pros choose low-volatility games, which offer frequent small payouts, to minimize losses while completing the requirements.
Pro Tip: Identify specific slot games with a low house edge and high RTP that contribute 100% toward wagering requirements.
3. Leverage Multi-Tabling in Poker
Online poker allows players to participate in multiple games simultaneously. Experienced players use this to their advantage, spreading risk and increasing their chances of hitting a profitable table.
Pro Tip: Use poker tracking software to analyze opponents’ patterns and improve your decision-making during multi-tabling.
4. Manage Your Session Length
Professional players are aware of the psychological impact of long gambling sessions. Fatigue can lead to poor decision-making. They set time limits to ensure they’re always playing at their best. The best gambling sites will offer responsible gambling tools like this one.
Pro Tip: Take regular breaks and use session-tracking tools to monitor your playing time and prevent burnout.
5. Avoid “Tilt” Like a Poker Pro
Tilt, or emotional decision-making, is a common pitfall. Pros train themselves to stay disciplined, regardless of wins or losses.
Pro Tip: Develop a pre-game routine, such as meditation or deep breathing exercises, to stay calm and focused during gameplay.

What Are the Most Trusted Online Gambling Sites?
Trust comes from real testing, clear licensing, and fast, secure payouts. Based on our latest checks, we think BetOnline, Ignition, and Shazam are the best rated online casino websites right now.
In general, every brand we recommend goes through the same safety checklist, including license verification, encryption standards, independent game testing, responsible-gaming tools, and withdrawal speed trials, so our other picks are completely safe and secure, too. In short, our list only includes legit gambling sites we’d trust with our own deposits.
Why You Can Trust Our Team
We test gambling sites the same way you use them – by signing up, depositing our own money, playing across devices, and cashing out. Our goal is simple: help you spend less time guessing and more time playing on the most trusted online gambling sites.
Here’s what sets our reviews apart.
Hands-on, start to finish:
Every pick is field-tested by real editors. We claim bonuses, check wagering terms, stress-test support, and time withdrawals with a literal stopwatch. If something feels off, we say so – plainly.
Safety first:
Licensing, ownership history, independent RNG audits, encryption, payment rails, and responsible-gaming tools are our non-negotiables. When we call out the safest online gambling sites, it’s because they’ve cleared this checklist, not because they bought an ad.
Payout reality check:
We verify payment speeds on multiple methods, not just the “up to” claims. Slow or stalled withdrawals are deal-breakers.
We focus on fineprint:
We read the terms so you don’t get blindsided; bonus caps, restricted games, max bet rules, KYC quirks, and geo-limits all get scrutinized.
Player-first scoring:
Our ratings prioritize protection and payouts over hype: security & licensing, fairness, withdrawal speed, banking options, game quality, UX, and support responsiveness.
Editorial independence:
Partners never choose or reorder our recommendations. If a brand slips, we update or remove it, no exceptions.
Ongoing monitoring:
We track changes to terms, ownership, and player feedback. Lists are living documents, not set-and-forget pages.
We’re long-time players and industry researchers who’ve been burned by clunky betting apps and slow cashouts, too. That’s why our guides focus on clarity, fairness, and real-world results. If we don’t recommend a site to a friend, you won’t see it on our list.

Thinking of trying online gambling? Please consider the following information.
SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers for The Mountaintop.
As soon as Brian Sullivan Taylor, who plays Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in The Mountaintop, took off his shoes, the first thing I noticed were the holes in his socks. It’s small, intentional details like these that make me excited about seeing plays at the Detroit Public Theatre. His swiss cheese socks are early brushstrokes in the portrait of an imperfect Dr. King — a man grappling with an immense responsibility and his humanity.
Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop, directed by Brian Marable, opened at DPT on Saturday, Feb. 7, and runs through Sunday, March 8. It gives us a look at the man behind the movement and takes place in Dr. King’s room at the Lorraine Motel on April 3, 1968 — the evening before his assasination. With a thunderous storm raging outside, King is visited by Camae (played by powerhouse Rebecca Rose Mims), a motel employee who has come to bring him coffee. Except, Camae isn’t a Lorraine Motel employee at all. She’s an angel who has come to escort King to the afterlife.
The rhythm of the play reminds of August Wilson’s writing, where things start off seemingly simple with subtle hints crawling underneath your skin that something is off (if you’re paying attention), leading to a point of no return where all hell breaks loose. Combined with directing and acting that skillfully highlight the nuance of humor in high-stakes situations, and fully immersive sound and visuals, DPT’s The Mountaintop provides an evening of entertainment and introspection, initiating a chance for the audience to reflect on our own lives.
The theme of the inherent imperfectness that comes with being human is teased throughout the play. The cigarette smoking, whiskey drinking, cursing, and flirtatious Camae doesn’t fit our idea of an angel. Even more so when she tells us of her turbulent life and the brutal circumstances of her death. King himself — a chainsmoking man, with holes in his socks, and a tendency to cheat on his wife — is not quite the saint we may have pictured him as. Camae says as much in the play. It’s like meeting someone you admire and realizing that they are just as flawed and human as you.
Earlier on the day when the play takes place, King delivers his final speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” where he hints at his death. In the real-life speech (not in the play itself), King says:
“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”
The play furthers this foreshadowing of impending demise in its story-telling elements. Thunderclaps and lightning strikes are so loud in the theatre that they startle me, making me jump in my seat, almost like the ringing of a gunshot. Before we learn that Camae is an angel, we’re left to wonder how it is that she’s been able to make more cigarettes magically appear, and why she’s lingering so long in King’s room after delivering his coffee. When the play opens, we see King’s luggage sitting open on the bed. Has he just arrived or is he preparing to leave?
I recently watched National Geographic’s Pole to Pole featuring Will Smith, who travels from the North Pole to the South in search of the meaning of life. In one episode focused on the idea of happiness, he visits Bhutan where remote Buddhist monks tell him the secret to happiness is accepting death. It seems that King knew this, whether during his “Mountaintop” speech or by the end of the play, as he cannot escape his fate. None of us can.
Before he dies, King asks to see the future and is shown pivotal moments in the fight for civil rights including his assassination, Jesse Jackson becoming the face of the movement, and even the inauguration of President Barack Obama. He can’t believe the seeming progress we’ve made toward equality, but it all comes to a screeching halt of disappointment when he sees the current sitting president Donald Trump, who has rolled back so much progress.
King knows he doesn’t have a choice to leave his mortal life behind. But before he does so, he leaves a baton on the pillow, passing the responsibility to fight for justice and equality on to all of us in the audience. Any one of us can pick up that baton. It’s a reminder that we don’t have to be perfect to have a positive impact on humanity. We simply have to be brave.
The Detroit Lions are still dealing with the fallout from their 2025 coaching shake-up, and the aftereffects might not be done rippling through the roster. Losing both coordinators in the same offseason was already a major blow, Ben Johnson heading to Chicago and Aaron Glenn taking over the New York Jets, but now Detroit may be facing another tough departure.
This time, it’s a player who has been right at the center of their defensive identity.
Alex Anzalone Could Be on the Move
Linebacker Alex Anzalone has been one of the Lions’ most dependable defenders over the last five seasons. He’s been durable, productive, and consistently steady, the kind of player who keeps a defense glued together.
Auman ranked him No. 80 on his list of the top 100 free agents and suggested that Glenn could be eager to bring him aboard. The two worked together for four seasons in Detroit, and some of Anzalone’s best football came under Glenn’s watch.
Anzalone’s production speaks for itself:
Averaging 14 starts per season
Nearly 100 tackles per year
Previously playing on a team-friendly $6 million per year deal
That combination of reliability and affordability is exactly why Glenn might want him in New York.
Why the Jets Make Sense
The Jets could be staring at a major vacancy in their linebacker corps. All-Pro Quincy Williams is expected to hit free agency and draw significant interest around the league. If he signs elsewhere, New York will need a veteran who can step in immediately and run Glenn’s system without a learning curve.
That’s where Anzalone fits perfectly.
And for a first-year head coach trying to establish his culture, bringing in a trusted veteran who already understands his expectations is a huge advantage.
What This Means for Detroit
The Lions are trying to avoid major roster turnover as they push to get back to the playoffs in 2026 after losing their grip on the NFC North. Losing Anzalone would create a leadership gap on a defense that has leaned heavily on his communication, consistency, and experience.
Detroit has young linebackers with upside, but none who bring Anzalone’s command of the scheme or his on-field presence. Replacing him wouldn’t be impossible, but it would be a meaningful loss.
The Lions have already watched two key coaches walk out the door. Losing a defensive captain to one of those coaches would make the offseason sting even more.
The Bottom Line
This isn’t just a rumor floating in the wind. It’s a realistic scenario built on relationships, scheme familiarity, and roster needs on both sides.
If Aaron Glenn wants a veteran anchor for his new defense, Alex Anzalone might be the most logical — and most painful — Lions departure of the offseason.
Tarik Skubal didn’t pretend this was just another roster move.
He didn’t downplay it. He didn’t act unfazed. And he definitely didn’t try to sound cool.
Instead, the Detroit Tigers’ ace said exactly what was on his mind, and it sounded a lot like a kid meeting his hero.
“Giddy as a Kid”
When Skubal found out Justin Verlander was returning to Detroit, the reaction was immediate and emotional.
He admitted he felt “giddy as a kid” just thinking about the idea of sharing a clubhouse and a rotation with the pitcher he grew up idolizing.
“If you would have told me 10 years ago that I’m going to be locker mates with Justin Verlander and we’re going to be in the same rotation, I would have called you crazy,” Skubal said via MLive. “It’s pretty special.”
That’s not something you often hear from the reigning face of a franchise. Skubal is already a Cy Young winner. He’s already the Tigers’ ace. And yet, this moment clearly hits different.
A Childhood Idol Becomes a Teammate
Skubal didn’t shy away from calling Verlander what he is to him — a hero.
“I’m getting the goosebumps again. It’s like a hero,” Skubal said. “You look up to a guy who was playing when you were in high school, watching him win an MVP, watching him chase a Triple Crown. You put him on a pedestal way higher than everybody else. Then you get to share a clubhouse. It’s really cool.”
That line alone explains why this reunion matters beyond ticket sales or headlines. This isn’t just about nostalgia for fans. It’s personal for the players who grew up watching Verlander define an era of Tigers baseball.
Locker Neighbors in Lakeland
Skubal also joked about the surreal nature of the moment down in Lakeland, Florida, where TigerTown has undergone massive renovations since Verlander’s last spring there.
“I was joking. I go, ‘JV, you need a tour of this place?’ I’m just messing around,” Skubal said. “He was actually serious about it.”
Even that small exchange captures the generational overlap happening in Detroit right now — the past and present literally walking through the same facilities together.
Presence Matters
Skubal knows Verlander’s impact won’t just come every fifth day.
“We’re going to spend more time with these guys than our families,” Skubal said. “All the baseball stuff just kind of happens naturally. He’s gonna have an impact on a lot of guys here just with his presence, for sure.”
That might be the most telling quote of all. Verlander doesn’t need to say much. He doesn’t need to force leadership. Just being there changes the room.
The Bottom Line
Tarik Skubal is already one of the best pitchers in baseball.
And yet, he sounds like a fan again.
The goosebumps. The disbelief. The joy.
That’s what Justin Verlander’s return has sparked inside the Tigers’ clubhouse — starting with the guy currently leading the rotation. If this is how Detroit’s ace feels, imagine how the rest of the team is processing it.
Hello to all of our Veterans and 94.7 WCSX Classic Rock listeners. Friday is upon us and for this week, our I Thank You shout out goes to a local VFW Hall that for over 90 years has been a part of the eastside community and has worked to support Veterans through providing support, resources and comradery. Our I Thank You shout out goes to VFW Bruce Post 1146 in St. Clair Shores.
A History of the VFW Bruce Post 1146
Located at 28404 Jefferson Avenue, Saint Clair Shores, MI 48081, the building of the VFW Post 1146 has been open since 1957. However, its history has its roots dating back to 1934. As stated on their website, this summary is but a small part of the record of our past.
“In April of 1934 four men felt the prospering village of St. Clair Shores should be represented by a Veterans organization. The men were Bill Randall, Joe Dendoven, Leo Delo, and Charlie Pasters. There was some indecision as to whether they should be American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Since Joe Dendoven was a member of the Fairview Post and Bill Randall was a member of the Alger Post, the decision was swayed toward V.F.W. These four men held meetings in Leo’s garage while they recruited more members. Later they moved their meetings to St. Clair Shores Inn. These meetings were primarily of organizational purposes. On the 21st of August with 57 members they drew up and submitted a charter to form a V.F.W. post based on the inactive half-way post #1146 of East Detroit, which explains why our post number is comparatively low.
The following year Walter F. Bruce, who was a charter member, died. Being the first member of the newly formed post to pass away, the remaining members decided to name the post after him, hence the name Corporal Walter F. Bruce Post #1146.

Honoring the Dead by Serving the Living
The members soon realized they would need a Post home if they were to continue to grow. Through the efforts of Kendall Realty, Mr. Kendall being a member, they were able to acquire 12 lots free of charge, located at Manhattan and Harper. This proved to be a real windfall, for the 12 lots and $13,000 enabled them to buy the present property known those days as the Turners Home. Having gained a Post home and a considerable debt for a post of about 150 members, they turned to money making ventures such as Bingo, dances, and a bar.
Ed Olsen and Joe Dendoven were successful in having the post recognized as a non-profit organization and gaining tax exemptions from the State, County, and Village.
V.E. Day, the War was over in Europe, the members met at the post and together went to Trinity Episcopal Church to attend services. On V.J. day the members again attended services and retired to the Post to celebrate. Plans were made to welcome their sons home and enlist them into the V.F.W. to carry on their dreams of a bigger and better Bruce Post.
As the World War II veterans took their place, there was a period of unrest. They wanted to become more than just members. They too wanted to hold office and take an active part in post policies.
After the power struggle was over, a truth was born out. The youngsters were capable of dreaming and expanding. The new Post Home was conceived in 1954. Plans were drawn and committees were formed. The building was begun in 1956 and opened in 1957.
The old-timers built well when they founded the Bruce Post. Their accomplishments are a credit to the history of our inspired efforts. A debt of gratitude is owed to the planners and founders of our post, and words cannot tell the entire story. The real history is embedded in the memories of the many dedicated and devoted members who gave their talents and time in our cause.“

Bruce Post VFW 1146 Veterans Day Hall Ceremony
“I was very fortunate during my 30-years in the Army to have commanded four different units at three different levels. I think that one reason I was given the opportunity to do that is because I always believed that providing good leadership was more about serving others than exercising authority. That will be even more true in my approach.”
I did not come from the “school” where leaders and their decisions can’t be questioned. I’m just the opposite. If you see something that you don’t agree with or you think should be done differently, you’re free to ask me about it. You may give me a new perspective and maybe we will learn something from each other.
I’m truly awed and amazed by the work of the selfless scores of volunteers from the Post and our Auxiliary that have made the Bruce Post the place it is today, financially stable with a facility and grounds that would be the envy of any other VFW Post in the country.“

VFW Commander Dave Ellis and members of the VFW Auxiliary at VFW Conference in Mt. Pleasant (2025)
Serving at your local VFW is not just for those who served our nation. While VFW membership numbers have decreased recently due to veterans passing on, new members can still be recruited and join at any age to be apart of the legacy and honor of their VFW.
A message from Post Commander Dave Ellis:
“Great things continue to happen at the Bruce Post, because great people are making them happen. One thing that everyone contributed to was our achievement of over 102% of our membership goal for the last year. Even if you did not personally recruit an individual, your actions in the Club Room or in the community may have helped influence their choice to join us. Continuing that theme of recruiting and service activities I want to ask each of you to invite, or better yet bring, someone next time your here. A warm greeting, a friendly smile, eye contact and a handshake from you may be key features in someone’s decision to join our Post or Auxiliary.”
Those who did not serve can still contribute with many volunteering opportunities available for those who want to say thank you and help those who have helped preserve our way of life. Another way individuals can lend a hand is by considering joining as a member of the Auxiliary VFW. Information on that can be found by clicking here.
This is only a small sample of the amount of hard work, dedication, and community engagement that one VFW has impacted and continues to do. There are many stories and opportunities to get involved with and listen in on. For those here at 94.7 WCSX, we say THANK YOU TO the VFW 1146 Bruce Post!

How Pączki Day Vodka Is Made
Pączki Day Vodka is created by distilling pączki in a blend of 100 percent Michigan and Polish potato vodka, using a 500-gallon copper pot still. The result is a crystal-clear, one-of-a-kind spirit that is smooth, buttery, and finishes with unmistakable pączki character.
Free of artificial ingredients, flavors, or sweeteners, PDV is designed to showcase the authentic taste of handmade, glazed raspberry pączki from Hamtramck. It can be enjoyed chilled, over ice, mixed into cocktails, or as a traditional pączki chaser.
Detroit farmers got a boost this week. Eastern Market and the City of Detroit are dropping $240,000 in grants on local farmers and farming collectives.
The list of recipients highlights some of who’s doing the work of keeping Detroit fed and green.
The grants prioritize Black- and Indigenous-led farms, youth-focused projects, and initiatives in historically underfunded neighborhoods.
“These farmers and collectives represent the heart of Detroit’s agricultural community,” said Katy Trudeau, Eastern Market’s President and CEO.
Here’s who’s getting funded:
Brightmoor Artisans Collective — A nonprofit co-op providing business development services for food and farmer entrepreneurs.
Chang Hill Tribe — A new Hmong-operated urban farm focusing on community programming and shared agricultural heritage.
Foster Patch Community Skills Co-Op — A Brightmoor-based garden and farm founded by Brenda Mae and Alfonzo Sharpe, dedicated to culturally relevant food and youth empowerment.
Grow Moore Produce Cooperative — Twelve Black-owned Detroit farms pooling resources and offering training on land work and farm development.
Leilú Gardens — Kirsten Kirby-Shoote’s urban farm increasing access to culturally relevant foods and land-based education.
Neighbors Building Brightmoor — A resident-led collective managing gardens, orchards, and a tool library since 2006.
N.E.W. L.E.A.F. Detroit — An environmental nonprofit teaching sustainable food systems and climate adaptation.
Nurturing Our Seeds — An urban farm offering plant-based cooking classes with sponsored CSA shares.
One New Humanity — A Banglatown farm building a resource hub with classes in Arabic and Bangla.
Council member Angela Whitfield-Calloway (District 2) said that Detroit’s urban farmers essential to “feeding families, strengthening neighborhoods, and equipping the next generation.”
The work runs through December 2026. It’s part of Eastern Market’s broader push to support small-scale growers with vending space, cold storage, and the ongoing Shed 7 redevelopment.

🏛️ Wayne County State of the County Highlights
Last night was the 2026 Wayne County State of the County. With 1.75 million people, what happens at the county level doesn’t get a lot of press — but impacts a lot of daily life.
Contributor Luciano Marcon covered it for us as I can’t be everywhere. This year County Executive Warren Evans spoke at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.
Likely of most interest to our audience is an update on a massive railroad crossing project.
Crews are working to move utilities and lower Allen Road in Woodhaven by more than 20 feet and build a rail bridge so trains pass over traffic.
The intersection currently experiences significant delays when freight trains block traffic. More than 30,000 vehicles pass the intersection daily, with a school and a hospital nearby.
Completion on the $85 million project is now expected sometime in 2028.
According to the county website, here’s what it’s going to look like when it’s done:
Allen Road rendering 📸 Wayne County
Here are four other things he noted:
Evans wants the county to build up its Aviation and Aeronautics Career program with the Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency to prepare teens and young adults for jobs in the field. Evans said, “A world class airport should have a world class feeder system.” There are currently 11 schools involved.
The County partnered with Rx Kids, supporting six municipalities in the county through a direct cash program to support expectant mothers during pregnancy and for the baby’s first six months; and Vision to Learn, providing free glasses and eye exams to children.
Wayne County will partner with Savi to help residents with student loan debt by lowering monthly payments and pursue loan forgiveness at no cost for personalized services. This is similar to what’s done in Oakland County today.
More stories coming tomorrow… including something funky!

If there was any doubt about whether Drew Petzing would fit in Detroit, his own words erased it quickly.
In his exclusive interview with Pride of Detroit, the Lions’ new offensive coordinator described a philosophy that aligns seamlessly with Dan Campbell’s vision, an offense built on physicality, adaptability, and putting constant stress on opposing defenses. This won’t be a system-first operation. It will be a player-driven, punishment-based approach that evolves weekly.
And yes, Petzing was very clear about what that means.
Violence Isn’t a Buzzword — It’s the Standard
What drew Petzing to Detroit wasn’t just the roster or the recent success. It was the way the Lions play the game.
“One of the things that I firmly believe in football is that win or lose, it’s a violent game. And people on the other side of the ball need to feel it every time you step on the field. I think that identity in this building has been so prevalent throughout everything they’ve done. As an outsider looking in, you have a ton of respect for that, because that’s not always easy to do.”
That belief is foundational. For Petzing, physicality isn’t situational — it’s constant. It’s the baseline expectation, and it informs how the offense is built from the ground up.
An Offense Built Around Players, Not a Playbook
Rather than forcing a rigid system, Petzing emphasized that his offense will always reflect the personnel available — and that philosophy must remain fluid throughout the season.
“I think the key to any offense is it’s got to be built around the players you have, and you’ve got to highlight their ability and what they do best. Every roster I’ve been on, it’s going to be a little different. I wouldn’t say it’s, ‘Hey, it’s going to be this, it’s going to be that.’ It’s going to be what we feel like we’re best at and what makes us hard to defend. And I think that has to evolve each and every week you’re in this league.”
That adaptability is a direct reflection of lessons Petzing learned in Arizona, where injuries forced weekly adjustments. It’s also a mindset that fits perfectly in Detroit, where versatility and toughness define the roster.
Running the Ball Is an Attitude
When Petzing talks about the run game, it’s impossible not to hear echoes of Campbell’s voice.
“At the end of the day, the game comes down to the fundamentals, right? You’ve got to be able to block, catch, throw, tackle, run. Running the ball is an attitude thing, and it’s about moving people off the line of scrimmage. It’s about putting the ball in the hands of your best player… as often as possible to affect the game.”
That approach doesn’t require reinvention. Petzing made it clear he isn’t interested in scrapping what already works.
“We’re not going to completely depart from anything that they’ve done really well. I’m hoping I can bring some wrinkles that make that even more effective and maybe unlock a couple things.”
Two Backs, One Problem for Defenses
Detroit’s backfield is one of its greatest strengths, and Petzing sees Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery as stress multipliers when used together.
“You’re always going to try to find ways to get your best players on the field. Whether that’s 25 times a game or five times a game—that has to be something you’re considering. When you have two players of that dynamic ability, you want to find things they can do together… because it puts stress on a defense.”
At the same time, Petzing understands durability matters.
“I also know no one’s going to play 100% of the snaps… if they do, they’re not going to make it through 17 games. It’s a balance.”
Why 13 Personnel Fits Detroit’s Identity
Heavy personnel packages aren’t about old-school football — they’re about leverage and matchup control.
“That final piece is really the key to it: the matchups. When you have guys that can do a lot of different things, you can start to dictate things based on what the defense wants to do. It allows you to dictate to the defense a little bit more… and it gives you the freedom to jump back and forth without being predictable.”
In other words, Detroit can force defenses into uncomfortable decisions — and punish them regardless of how they respond.
Exactly What the Lions Were Looking For
Petzing’s comments reinforce why Detroit targeted him in the first place. He isn’t chasing trends. He isn’t attached to labels. He believes in fundamentals, accountability, and physical dominance.
“One of the key points of being an offensive coordinator is you’ve got to be in charge of everything, and you have to hold people accountable.”
Detroit didn’t hire Drew Petzing to change who they are. They hired him to sharpen it — to make the offense more adaptable, more punishing, and harder to defend week after week.
If his words are any indication, opposing defenses already know what’s coming.
The Detroit Lions aren’t just protecting their coaching staff, they’re also leaning into a familiar rivalry.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Miami Dolphins, now led by former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, requested permission to interview Lions offensive assistant Bruce Gradkowski for their quarterbacks coach position. Dan Campbell reportedly blocked the request, making it clear that Gradkowski isn’t going anywhere.
Given Hafley’s Packers ties, the move feels especially fitting.
Dan Campbell and the Lions have spent years battling Green Bay for control of the NFC North, and now that a former Packers coordinator is running Miami, Detroit had little incentive to do any favors. Blocking the request not only keeps a valued coach in-house, it also denies help to a former rival.
Gradkowski has been with the Lions since 2025 and is viewed internally as a rising offensive mind. Before arriving in Detroit, he served as the offensive coordinator for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the UFL, helping build an offense that put him firmly on the NFL coaching radar.
As a player, Gradkowski starred at Toledo before being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He went on to play for the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers, carving out a long professional career. His younger brother, Gino Gradkowski, is also a former NFL player.
Detroit’s decision sends a clear message: Bruce Gradkowski is part of the Lions’ present — and future — and Dan Campbell isn’t about to help a former Packers coach rebuild elsewhere.
If you’ve ever wondered what defines “middle-class” in your state, we have some numbers and research that points what that really means.
The term, according to Investopedia, is “a socioeconomic category used to describe people and families with incomes that fall into the median range for the geographic area they live in. The definition is not precise, but generally, middle-class people in the United States viewed as having sufficient means to live a comfortable lifestyle.”
So, what defines the middle-class in the state? A CNBC feature sheds light on that question.
Are You Considered ‘Middle-Class’ in the State? Here Are the Statistics
Winters adds that, “Even as more households earn six-figure salaries, many middle-class earners are feeling the squeeze. While inflation-adjusted wages have risen since 2022, those gains have been largely offset by increasing costs since the start of the pandemic in 2020.”
So, that’s for the upper middle-class. But, what about lower middle-class and, well, just the median household income in the state? It actually varies widely per state, which makes sense, because the cost of living in each state is very different. But, as mentioned earlier, to be considered upper middle-class, each state’s figure is more than $100,000.
Let’s look at this state and get into the numbers. According to the SmartAsset research, in Michigan, the low end of middle class is $46,117, the high end of middle class is $138,366 and the median household income $69,183. So, those are the numbers and figures that drive comparisons. If you’ve been wondering about the definition of the term is today, there’s your answer.

According to ESPN, Cunningham has purchased a minority ownership stake in the Texas Rangers, his hometown Major League Baseball team. The move makes the Pistons All-Star one of the athlete investors involved with Sportsology Capital Partners, which recently completed the minority investment in the reigning World Series champions.
For Cunningham, the decision was as much personal as it was strategic.
A Hometown Investment
Cunningham, 24, is a native of Arlington, Texas, just minutes from Globe Life Field. While his professional basketball career has made him the face of the Pistons, his roots remain firmly planted in Texas.
Investing in the Rangers represents a rare opportunity to reconnect with his hometown while stepping into ownership at a young age, something few active athletes accomplish, let alone across sports.
On the Court: An All-Star Season
Cunningham’s business move comes in the middle of the best season of his NBA career.
The Pistons guard is averaging:
25.3 points per game
9.6 assists per game
5.6 rebounds per game
Those numbers earned him a spot in the NBA All-Star Game this weekend, marking the second All-Star selection of his career. The former 2021 No. 1 overall pick will represent the USA Stars on Sunday, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier young guards.
Financial Foundation Already in Place
Cunningham’s investment in the Rangers is backed by a rapidly growing financial portfolio.
In 2024, he signed a five-year max rookie extension with Detroit that could be worth up to $269 million. Just months later, he added another major milestone, finalizing a six-year endorsement deal with Nike that includes his own signature shoe line.
With long-term financial security already locked in, Cunningham now has the freedom to think generationally, and ownership fits that vision.
A Growing Trend Among Elite Athletes
Cunningham joins a growing list of superstar athletes investing in professional franchises while still actively playing. The move signals a shift in how today’s stars view wealth, legacy, and long-term influence.
Rather than waiting until retirement, Cunningham is positioning himself early as a business-minded leader with interests that extend beyond basketball.
The Bottom Line
Cade Cunningham isn’t just building something special in Detroit; he’s building something lasting off the court.
By purchasing a minority stake in the Texas Rangers, Cunningham has taken a major step into the ownership world while staying connected to his hometown roots. It’s another sign that the Pistons star isn’t just thinking about his next All-Star appearance, he’s thinking about life after basketball, and beyond it.
