She said she reaffirmed the demand to give Navalny’s body to her and protested what she described as authorities trying to force her to agree to a secret burial.</p> <p>“They are blackmailing me, they are setting conditions where, when and how my son should be buried,” she said. “They want it to do it secretly without a mourning ceremony.”</p> <p>Navalny, Russia’s most well-known opposition politician, suddenly died in an Arctic prison last week, prompting hundreds of Russians across the country to stream to impromptu memorials with flowers and candles. The Russian authorities have detained scores of them as they seek to suppress any major outpouring of sympathy for Vladimir Putin’s fiercest foe ahead of the presidential election he is almost certain to win.</p> <p>Navalny’s mother has filed a lawsuit at a court in Salekhard contesting officials’ refusal to release her son’s body. A closed-door hearing has been scheduled for March 4. On Tuesday, she appealed to Putin to release her son’s remains so that she could bury him with dignity.</p> <p>In the video released Thursday, Navalnaya said she had spent nearly 24 hours in the Salekhard office of the Investigative Committee, where officials told her that they have determined the politician’s cause of death and have the paperwork ready, but she has to agree to a secret funeral. She didn’t specify what the cause of death was.</p> <p>“They want to take me to the outskirts of the cemetery to a fresh grave and say: ‘Here lies your son.’ I don’t agree to this. I want you too — to whom Alexey is dear, for whom his death was a personal tragedy — to have the opportunity to say goodbye to him,” she said.</p> <p>Navalnaya accused the authorities of threatening her: “Looking into my eyes, they say that if I do not agree to a secret funeral, they will do something with my son’s body. Investigator Voropayev openly told me: ‘Time is not on your side, the corpse is decomposing’,” she said, reiterating her demand to release her son’s body “immediately.”</p> <p>Navalny’s death has deprived the Russian opposition of its best-known and inspiring politician less than a month before an election that is all but certain to give Putin another six years in power. Many Russians had seen Navalny as a rare hope for political change amid Putin’s unrelenting crackdown on the opposition.</p> <p>Since Navalny’s death, about 400 people have been detained across in Russia as they tried to pay tribute to him with flowers and candles, according to OVD-Info, a group that monitors political arrests. Authorities cordoned off some of the memorials to victims of Soviet repression across the country that were being used as sites to leave makeshift tributes to Navalny. Police removed the flowers at night, but more keep appearing.</p> <p>Earlier Thursday, imprisoned opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Murza urged Russians not to give up after Navalny ‘s death, and he alleged that a state-backed hit squad was taking out the Kremlin’s political opponents, according to a video posted to social media.</p> <p>A British-Russian citizen, Kara-Murza is serving a 25-year sentence for treason at Penal Colony No. 7 in the Siberian city of Omsk. He comments came as he appeared via a video link in a court hearing over a complaint against Russia’s Investigative Committee for what he believes were two poisoning attempts against him. He alleges the committee didn’t properly investigate the attempts.</p> <p>Kara-Murza is one of several opposition figures who have either been imprisoned, forced to flee the country or killed. He was convicted of criticizing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and was handed a stiff sentence as part of a crackdown against critics of the war and freedom of speech.</p> <p>“We owe it … to our fallen comrades to continue to work with even greater strength and achieve what they lived and died for,” Kara-Murza said in the video, which was shared by the Russian Sota telegram channel.</p> <p>Kara-Murza says the attempts to poison him took place in 2015 and 2017. In the first, he nearly died of kidney failure, although no cause was determined. He was hospitalized with a similar illness in 2017 and put into a medically induced coma. His wife said doctors confirmed he was poisoned.</p> <p>Kara-Murza’s latest hearing came after months of postponements. In January, he was moved from another prison in Siberia and placed in solitary confinement over an alleged minor infraction.</p> <p>According to the video shared by Sota, Kara-Murza alleged there is a “death squad within the Federal Security Service, a group of professional killers in the service of the state, whose task is to physically eliminate political opponents of the Putin regime.”</p> <p>He said investigative journalists had shown the group of FSB officers participated in his poisoning, as well as Navalny’s poisoning with a nerve agent in 2020 and the surveillance of opposition politician Boris Nemtsov before he was shot and killed in 2015 on a bridge near the Kremlin.</p> <p>On Monday, Ilya Yashin, an opposition figure serving 8 1/2 years in prison for criticizing Russia’s war in Ukraine, alleged in a social media post shared on his behalf that Putin had killed Navalny.</p> <p>“I have no doubt that it was Putin. He’s a war criminal,” Yashin said. “Navalny was his key opponent in Russia and was hated by the Kremlin. Putin had both motive and opportunity. I am convinced that he ordered the killing.”</p> <p>The Kremlin has denied any involvement in the illnesses and deaths of the opposition figures, including Navalny.</p> <p>Navalny’s widow, Yulia Navalnaya, said Thursday on her Instagram account that she had flown to visit her 20-year-old daughter, Dasha, a student at Stanford University.</p> <p>“My dear girl, I came to hug you and support you, and you sit and support me” she wrote under a photo of herself and her daughter lying on a carpet.</p> <p>Describing her daughter as “strong, brave and resilient,” Navalnaya said the family would “definitely cope with everything.” She also has a 15-year-old son, Zakhar.</p> <p>Russian authorities have said the cause of Navalny’s death is still unknown and have refused to release his body for two weeks as the preliminary inquest continues, his team said. Johnson joins two other deputies, Nestor Rivera and Rich Peters, each of whom retired from the sheriff’s department with lower ranks on Jan. 30 only to return as deputy majors on Feb. 12. The rank of major is new to the sheriff’s department.</p> <p>Johnson worked under Pretel for years at the Cleveland Division of Police. In September, Johnson was suspended for 30 days after city leaders found him guilty of 20 rules violations,<a target="_blank" href="https://themarshallproject.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a92567c13cca06b470824aead&id=881ae64900&e=c5e71a5091" rel="noopener"> Ideastream reported</a>.</p> <p>The city also demoted Johnson several ranks: from commander to sergeant. He subsequently resigned. While it’s unknown why, the African American population is more likely to have allergies, be diagnosed with more than one, and have more severe symptoms.</span></p> <p>From a runny nose to a more life-threatening reaction, how do we develop an allergy, identify it, and treat it? How are allergies different for a Black person? Keep reading to learn more about allergies and what can be done about them.</p> <p>Developing Allergies Through Sensitization<br />Allergic sensitization is the first step in developing an allergy. This allergy often begins before birth, as you are exposed to things your mother eats or is absorbed from various things within her environment. You become sensitized to other common allergens after birth, such as dust mites, foods, medications, and insect stings. When you start to develop symptoms of these allergens primarily depends on when you are first exposed to them and how often. The sensitization process begins when your immune system makes antibodies specific to the allergen you’ve encountered, known as immunoglobulin e (IgE). font-size: 1.1rem;" rel="noopener">over 3 million refugees</a>making it one of the leading countries for finding new homes for people fleeing violence, persecution, and war.</p> <p> In 2021, then-President Donald Trump lowered the annual cap of refugees that could be admitted into the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/how-does-us-refugee-system-work-trump-biden-afghanistan" rel="noopener">country to 15,000</a>. Even as the Biden administration has raised the ceiling to 125,000, the annual number of refugees arriving in the U.S. didn’t immediately bounce back to pre-Trump administration levels. The numbers are increasing though, with over 25,000 refugees arriving in the U.S. in the 2022 fiscal year, twice the 2021 total.<br /><span style="font-family: Lato, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 1.1rem;"><br />Refugee arrivals during the 2023 fiscal year dramatically outpaced the prior two years, reaching over 60,000 from October 2022 to September 2023.<br /></span><span style="font-family: Lato, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 1.1rem;"><br />In January 2024, the greatest number of refugees admitted by the U.S. came from Congo, Syria, and Afghanistan. Reports peaked at at around 4:30-5:30 a.m. ET, depending on the carrier in question. The cause of the outage is not yet clear.</p> <p>Areas reporting issues included New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston. Some municipalities across the country also reported issues with contacting emergency services, including 911.</p> <p>A source familiar told Spectrum News that the issue is not related to Verizon, but likely to another mobile carrier. The company’s customers could see issues they try to make or receive calls or texts from the impacted provider, the source said.</p> <p>Spectrum News has reached out to T-Mobile and AT&T for comment.</p> <p><b><i>This is a developing story. If they did, they would know that year after year after year, their fellow <em>Kiddie Klan Kadets</em> get themselves into trouble over their <a target="_blank" href="https://newsone.com/4242315/yulee-high-school-racist-snapchat-video/" rel="noopener">racist videos</a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://newsone.com/4275085/white-idaho-student-uses-racist-sign-to-ask-student-to-school-dance/" rel="noopener">racist promposals</a> (with the <a target="_blank" href="https://newsone.com/4405442/pine-richland-racist-homecoming-sign/" rel="noopener">same stupid joke about “picking cotton” and “picking you</a>), and, of course, for their racist online activities, particularly on the social media platform <a target="_blank" href="https://newsone.com/4727316/alabama-school-district-racist-snapchat/" rel="noopener">Snapchat</a>.</p> <p>A group of students at Southwick Regional High School in western Massachusetts have been accused of of creating an online “slave auction” in a Snapchat group called “Black people are low class.” According to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/students-at-western-mass-high-school-accused-of-racially-charged-bullying/3285997/" rel="noopener">NBC 10 Boston</a>, the group of students allegedly placed bids on Black students at Southwick of $2 and $4.</p> <p><em>*sigh*</em></p> <p>If these kids watched the news more, they would know that the Snapchat slave auction has <a target="_blank" href="https://newsone.com/4214930/newberg-oregon-school-slave-trade-snapchat/" rel="noopener">already been done</a> to death by their fellow <em>Nursery Nazis</em>. Just saying, if you can’t be kind, at least be original.</p> <p>Apparently, the issue didn’t end online as Black students at the school reportedly claimed to have endured racist behavior from the alleged mock slave auctioneers in person as well.</p> <p>From NBC 10:</p> <blockquote> <p>The mother of a 13-year-old student at the high school told WWLP that her daughter was called “the N-word to her face and then another child used another slur in her classroom in her presence, where she’s the only person of color.”</p> <p>The 13-year-old’s mother said she notified the school about the incidents, but nothing was done to address the issue, according to WWLP.</p> <p>“I need for her to be safe and I need to know that she’s comfortable and not doing it because she knows she has to. But at the same time, I want the school to take accountability,” Allyson Lopez told WWLP. “It’s 2024 and racism is real and it’s alive but we all know that. We’re blessed. It started when his wife, Julie, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. After a year of chemotherapy and surgeries, she began to get her life back.</p> <p>It was just at about that time a difficult-to-diagnose lump was found in Jon’s throat.</p> <p>“That’s when they figured out that it was peripheral T-cell lymphoma,” Jon said.</p> <p>For the next several months, Jon underwent aggressive chemotherapy and Julie and their two children were at his side for everything.</p> <aside class="ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab"> </aside> <p>“I went through the typical things of chemo. I understood that” </p> <p>That love and understanding went a long way in Jon’s treatment, but cancer wasn’t done with the family yet.</p> <p>“I went 13 months. Thirteen months I was in remission and I actually went to the doctor to get my port taken out because we were all done with the cancer and they gave me one more and that PET scan came back positive for something,” Jon said.</p> <aside class="ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab"> </aside> <p>With the cancer back, Jon’s only option was a stem cell transplant. He underwent that treatment and was very weak, but he was recovering.</p> <p>But then, one day he went to the <a target="_blank" href="https://fox8.com/tag/cleveland-clinic/" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cleveland Clinic</a> for some tests because of a persistent cough</p> <p>“I went in to have the bronchial scope done and I had a reaction and crashed and wound up in the ICU and woke up three days later,” Jon said.</p> <div class="nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text"> <aside class="promo-link"> <a target="_blank" href="https://fox8.com/news/i-team/euclid-middle-school-student-with-gun-arrested-i-team/?ipid=promo-link-block3" class="promo-link__link" rel="noopener"><br /> Euclid Middle School student with gun arrested: I-Team </a><br /> </aside> </div> <p>That reaction was a result of Graft vs Host disease. GVHD is when the body begins to reject transplanted tissue or cells.</p> <aside class="ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab"> </aside> <p>“Every organ in your body can be affected by this, and in his case, it was the lungs and that could lead to a dangerous and life-threatening situation. I think by the time he got to bronchoscopy his lung function was very low,” Cleveland Clinic Oncologist Doctor Deepa Jagadeesh said.</p> <p>At that point, Jon is now on a ventilator, his body is rejecting the stem cells and his prognosis is not good. Doctors didn’t think that Jon would make it through the night.</p> <p>“You think you have some grand epiphany during that moment. You’re probably not going to make it to morning and you got to say goodbye to your family. I just wanted to see my family. I wasn’t going to make any great speeches. I just wanted to hold my family and be with my wife and my kids and wake up the next morning,”  Jon said. “I decided I didn’t want to go to sleep that night because I might not wake up. I wasn’t supposed to wake up. In the morning my wife came in and had crawled into the chair she would sit in and I said, ‘I’m not going anywhere yet.’”</p> <p>That long night and Jon’s overwhelming drive to live was a turning point for him and his treatment. His doctors worked out a new course to follow.</p> <aside class="ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab"> </aside> <p>“We had a trial opening up at that time looking at this drug, Rextrenaleb, for chronic lung GVHD. We talked to him about it and he was willing to try. Thank God for Dr. Jagadesh and thank God for Theresa, the girl whom I never met in person gave me those stem cells. To represent him as the defendant in the suit, Diddy has hired attorney Bobbi Sternheim. If that name sounds familiar to you, it might be because Sternheim also represented Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years in prison for recruiting and transporting young girls so they could be sexually abused by <a target="_blank" href="https://cassiuslife.com/96078/the-guards-assigned-to-check-on-jeffrey-epstein-reportedly-fell-asleep-for-3-hours/" rel="noopener">Jeffrey Epstein</a>.</p> <p>Setting aside the deplorable optics of a man accused of the rape of a minor hiring the same attorney who represented a sex trafficker who transported minors to be raped, the question a lot of people are using is<span style="font-weight: 400">—does Diddy even know how things ended for Maxwell?</span></p> <p>To be fair, prosecutors wanted Maxwell to serve a minimum of 30 years behind bars and she only got 20. Wigdor, the attorney who represented singer Cassie, who also sued Didy for <a target="_blank" href="https://cassiuslife.com/playlist/cassie-diddy-rape-abuse-lawsuit/" rel="noopener">alleged rape and abuse</a>. That suit was <a target="_blank" href="https://cassiuslife.com/playlist/diddy-cassie-settle-lawsuit-rape-reactions/" rel="noopener">settled</a> just over 24 hours after the news of it broke, which also didn’t do much in the way of making Diddy look innocent.</p> <p>As for the new lawsuit, here are a few details provided by Complex:</p> <blockquote> <p>The lawsuit against Diddy, which was filed in December 2023, accuses him and two others, including Bad Boy executive Harve Pierre, of “a sex trafficking scheme that involved plying [Jane Doe] with alcohol and transporting her by private jet to New York City where she was gang-raped.”</p> <p>The victim was in 11th grade when she first met Pierre and “the third assailant” at a lounge in the Detroit area. The two allegedly convinced her to take a private plane to New Jersey before being driven to Diddy’s House Recording Studio in New York City.</p> <p>The suit claims she became inebriated “to the point that she could not possibly have consented to having sex with anyone, much less someone twice her age.” Diddy was 34 years old at the time of the alleged incident.</p> </blockquote> <p>These allegations of horrific crimes are serious, and Diddy appears to be doing everything in his power to make sure the court of public opinion lands anywhere but on his side. Four people were injured.</p> <p>“Oh, the car went through the entire front door,” Tracy, a Keratin employee, said, recounting that day last March to Scene. “I watched the whole thing. The car came right down the street and right into our business.”</p> <p>Last year, 550 Clevelanders were hit by bars while cycling or walking around the city, Bike Cleveland found, according to a report released Tuesday. Nine of those involved in accidents died, a relative unchanged statistic since Vision Zero, Cleveland’s attempt to eliminate fatal pedestrian and biking accidents by 2032, was implemented two years ago. (In 2023, there were 10 deaths.)</p> <p>The report, which Bike Cleveland compiled using 911 calls and data culled from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, details a city still reaching for safe infrastructure.</p> <p>The numbers are likely obvious to routine navigators of Cleveland’s hardscape. Most of 2023’s accidents occurred in dense areas with wide streets, where drivers have ample room to change lanes and flout speed limits. About a third of all accidents occurred downtown, or on the city’s inner West or East sides. (Seventy-nine of these involved children.)</p> <p>At least as far as we know. </p> <p>Jenna Thomas, the data analyst at Bike Cleveland who helped produce the bulk of the report, said that many accidents with pedestrians and cyclists often go unreported, either due to hit-and-runs or police skepticism. That, and the city of Cleveland, she said, submits actual crash reports, called OH-1s, about “45 to 60 days after crashes occur.”</p> <p> Other Ohio cities like Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo, she said, send those reports “within one to five days on average.”</p> <p>“And Vision Zero <i>relies</i> on those reports,” Thomas said in a phone call. “I mean, we don’t really have good data. Like, in 2023, about half of all crashes, I think, don’t ever get reported.”</p> <p>Like 40 other U.S. cities, Cleveland dove into Vision Zero, a safer-streets initiative first adopted in Sweden in 1997, as a focused way to best spend dollars on buffered bike lanes, speed bumps and other traffic calming and safety efforts. </p> <p>And, save for ten speed tables, roundabouts and some walker-friendly signals, most of Vision Zero’s progress since 2022 has been policy-oriented, with Cleveland’s Complete & Green Streets law last summer doing most of the guiding. As did $3 million in American Rescue Plan Act money put aside for street reshaping: into narrowing roads, building better walk signaling.</p> <p>“All this takes time,” Thomas said. “But we’re certainly anxious to see more things installed.”</p> <p>In 2020, eight years after installing its own Vision Zero policy, Chicago’s traffic fatality rates pretty much <a target="_blank" href="https://data.cityofchicago.org/Transportation/Traffic-Crashes-Vision-Zero-Chicago-Traffic-Fatali/gzaz-isa6/data" rel="noopener">matched those in 2012</a>.  From 2015, when Los Angeles implemented its own, to 2018, pedestrian fatalities increased by 75 percent. The only major applause heard might be in San Francisco, where crashes “decreased significantly” in <a target="_blank" href="https://www.sfcta.org/sites/default/files/2022-06/SFCTA_Board_VisionZeroTrafficFatalities2021EndofYearREPORT_2022-06-07.pdf" rel="noopener">2019 and 2020</a>, after two years of policy changes. (Mind you, in a city where 40 percent of its commuters use public transit.)</p> <p>“Claiming that no price can be placed on human life is a noble approach,” Jay Derr, a transportation policy advisor <a target="_blank" href="https://reason.org/commentary/vision-zero-programs-are-not-an-effective-way-to-reduce-traffic-fatalities-in-u-s-cities/" rel="noopener">at the Reason Foundation, wrote</a>, “but one that is unrealistic in a world where policymakers have limited resources to solve problems.”</p> <p>But don’t tell that to Ward 3 Councilman Kerry McCormack. The writer of the Complete & Green Streets legislation in 2022, McCormack believes that Cleveland <i>will</i> see a decline in such accidents soon after construction is cleared—like the $30 million Lorain Midway, or the supposed four to five buffered bike lanes, he said, that could pop up downtown this summer.</p> <p>“And you don’t even have to have the data,” he said. “People are out of control in their cars, they’re out of control. Your signs can be great. Marks on the road. But we still need real road infrasture to force drivers to pay attention.”</p> <p>As for that infrastucture, McCormack and Thomas turn to the suggestions from Vision Zero: to new pedestrian wait isalnds, to raising crosswalks and adding curb extensions to high risk blocks. Justices, citing anti-abortion language in the Alabama Constitution, ruled that an 1872 state law allowing parents to sue over the death of a minor child “applies to all unborn children, regardless of their location.”</p> <p>“Unborn children are ‘children’ … without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics,” Justice Jay Mitchell wrote in Friday’s majority ruling by the all-Republican court.</p> <p>Mitchell said the court had previously ruled that fetuses killed while a woman is pregnant are covered under Alabama’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act and nothing excludes “extrauterine children from the Act’s coverage.”</p> <p>The ruling brought a rush of warnings about the potential impact on fertility treatments and the freezing of embryos, which had previously been considered property by the courts.</p> <p>“This ruling is stating that a fertilized egg, which is a clump of cells, is now a person. It really puts into question, the practice of IVF,” Barbara Collura, CEO of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, told The Associated Press Tuesday. The group called the decision a “terrifying development for the 1-in-6 people impacted by infertility” who need in-vitro fertilization.</p> <p>She said it raises questions for providers and patients, including if they can freeze future embryos created during fertility treatment or if patients could ever donate or destroy unused embryos.</p> <p>Sean Tipton, a spokesman with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, said at least one Alabama fertility clinic has been instructed by their affiliated hospital to pause IVF treatment in the immediate wake of the decision.</p> <p>Dr. Paula Amato, president of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, said a decision to treat frozen fertilized egg as the legal equivalent of a child or gestating fetus could limit the availability of modern health care.</p> <p>“By insisting that these very different biological entities are legally equivalent, the best state-of-the-art fertility care will be made unavailable to the people of Alabama. No health care provider will be willing to provide treatments if those treatments may lead to civil or criminal charges,” Amato said.</p> <p>Gabby Goidel, 26, who is pursuing IVF treatment in Alabama after three miscarriages, said the court ruling came down on the same day she began daily injections ahead of egg retrieval.</p> <p>“It just kind of took me by by storm. It was like all I could think about and it was just a very stressful thing to hear. I immediately messaged my clinic and asked if this could potentially halt us. They said we have to take it one day at a time,” Goidel said.</p> <p>She said her clinic is continuing to provide treatment for now, but said it will let her know if they have to change course.</p> <p>Goidel said she turned to IVF and preimplantation genetic testing after the multiple miscarriages related to genetic issues.</p> <p>“Without IVF, I would have to probably go through several more miscarriages before I even had an option of having a baby that is my own,” she said.</p> <p>The plaintiffs in the Alabama case had undergone IVF treatments that led to the creation of several embryos, some of which were implanted and resulted in healthy births. The couples paid to keep others frozen in a storage facility at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. A patient in 2020 wandered into the area and removed several embryos, dropping them on the floor and “killing them,” the ruling said.</p> <p>The justices ruled that wrongful death lawsuits by the couples could proceed. The clinic and hospital that are defendants in the case could ask the court to reconsider its decision.</p> <p>Michael Upchurch, a lawyer for the fertility clinic in the lawsuit, Center for Reproductive Medicine, said they are “evaluating the consequences of the decision and have no further comment at this time.”</p> <p>An anti-abortion group cheered the decision. “Each person, from the tiniest embryo to an elder nearing the end of his life, has incalculable value that deserves and is guaranteed legal protection,” Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action said in a statement.</p> <p>Chief Justice Tom Parker issued a concurring opinion in which he quoted the Bible in discussing the meaning of the phrase “the sanctity of unborn life” in the Alabama Constitution.</p> <p>“Even before birth, all human beings bear the image of God, and their lives cannot be destroyed without effacing his glory,” Parker said.</p> <p>Justice Greg Cook, who filed the only full dissent to the majority opinion, said the 1872 law did not define “minor child” and was being stretched from the original intent to cover frozen embryos.</p> <p>“No court — anywhere in the country — has reached the conclusion the main opinion reaches,” he wrote, adding the ruling “almost certainly ends the creation of frozen embryos through in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Alabama.”</p> <p>The Alabama Supreme Court decision partly hinged on anti-abortion language added to the Alabama Constitution in 2018, stating it is the “policy of this state to ensure the protection of the rights of the unborn child.”</p> <p>Supporters at the time said it would have no impact unless states gained more control over abortion access. States gained control of abortion access in 2022.</p> <p>White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the Alabama decision reflected the consequences of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and blamed Republican elected officials from blocking access to reproductive and emergency care to women.</p> <p>“This president and this vice president will continue to fight to protect access to reproductive health care and call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v.
