5 Bits of Encouragement for the Woman Learning to Say No

    [ad_1]

For some of us, it’s the most difficult word to utter aloud. This powerful word can bring much-needed relief—to our schedule, our daily lives, and even our attitudes. We know this from experience, but for some reason, we struggle to use it. So we keep practicing. We continue learning how to say no. The single most impactful lesson I’ve learned in my journey of faith is how to say no. To discern God’s best for me amidst all the things I want to do. It’s a nugget of wisdom more precious than rubies, like Solomon wrote about in Proverbs 8:11. (And one I secretly wish I’d found sooner.)It hasn’t been easy. Still isn’t. I’ve fought hard for each no, and I’m committed to the work, because learning to say no will not only draw us closer to God. It also causes a ripple effect of good things that can be felt by the people around us. For those of us who love to help and serve, learning to say no means making time to honor the Lord and follow him alone. So even though it takes intentional effort on our part, the fruits are totally worth it.If you’re a woman who’s learning to say no today, take heart. Turning down a request doesn’t mean giving up opportunities or letting others down. We can reframe the way we view our “no” in order to gain clarity on God’s divine assignments for us. Here are a few tidbits of encouragement for you as you learn the value of your no:Photo Credit: ©Getty Images/Fizkes

  • 17 Signs That Reveal You Have Met Your False Twin Flame

17 Signs That Reveal You Have Met Your False Twin Flame

    [ad_1]

You know how all the movies and the poems talk about us being part of a greater whole with a romantic lover? A twin flame makes you feel just that. In fact, a twin flame might just be the ‘love at first sight’ relationship we see in the movies. And for good reason, too. Such a dynamic feels destined. With this person, you feel complete. In our romanticism-fueled search for that person, we’re likely to come across a few false twin flames first before the real deal comes along.

It can be hard to tell the difference between an actual twin flame vs a false twin flame, owing to how difficult it can be to label what you have with another person. Heck, for the longest time, best friends Monica and Chandler from Friends didn’t know what they had was a bit more than just a friendship.

Love is supposed to flow unconditionally between twin flames. If you have ever chanced upon a false twin flame before real twin flame, you will get to experience a restrained version of love based on convenience. So, why do we meet false twin flames after all? Is there any significant purpose of meeting false twin flames? Whether you’re trying to ascertain that what you have isn’t a knock-off version of what you want, or you’re just trying to educate yourself, we’re here to tell you all you’ll ever need to know about false flame vs twin flame.

    What Are False Twin Flames?

To understand what a false twin flame is, you first need to know what a real one would look like in your spiritual journey. Speaking on the subject, astrologer Kreena previously told Bonobology how she defines such a relationship in simple words, “Someone who completes you, someone who makes you feel whole.”

Such a dynamic features an intense spiritual, physical, and emotional connection. Claimed to be a person’s literal other half, it’s no surprise that such a couple always feels magnetically drawn toward each other. The compatibility and similarities they share allow them to be a perfect fit for each other.

It’s the kind of relationship that people look at and go, “Wow, they were made for each other.” The partners harmoniously fit into each other’s lives like two complementing pieces of yin and yang. Being with a false twin flame, on the other hand, can elicit remarks like, “Wow, they’re really obsessed with each other, aren’t they?”

False twin flame vs real twin flame

That magnetic attraction between twin flames drives one partner to the other pretty effortlessly. No matter where they stand in their individual lives, the Universe will find a way to bring them back under one roof and the most unexpected coincidences keep surprising them on the way. While the false twin flame obsession is more about sexual dominance and claiming the other person to be a possession, rather than being an emotional connection.

A relationship as pure and divine as a twin flame dynamic doesn’t rely on obsession and infatuation to make it strong. Since false twin flames aren’t really spiritually connected, it gives room for forces like limerence to take hold. Controlling telepathy with a false twin flame becomes a hindrance in your way of exploring your full creative potential and these energy vampires are there to drain you mentally and physically.

Simply put, everything a true twin flame connection is, a false twin flame is not. It may feel like it, but the issues will eventually slip through the cracks, weakening the entire foundation of your bond. But since your infatuated mind may be trying to convince you that what you have can in no way be fake, it’s hard to realize that and spot the differences.

    Are false twin flames toxic?

All you need is to correctly identify your relationship so that you unnecessarily don’t waste your energy on trying to make an inauthentic twin flame relation work when it is not meant to last. You should instead be focusing on trying to manifest your real twin flame.

It’s not necessary that your false twin flame relationship will always be toxic. It can simply be “uneventful” or “fizzled out” or dispassionate. Or it may just not feel right for you. The result is that the relationship will run it’s course and die down. Unless, the relationship with your fake twin flame feels abusive in nature where you feel taken for granted, undervalued, ill-treated, manipulated, there is no reason for panic and worry.

The more you observe instances of false twin flame synchronicities, the more you will be able to spot the signs they are not your twin flame. Before it gets complicated further, let’s take a look at the signs of a false connection, post which you’ll either leave extremely happy or with a lot of thinking to do. In case it’s the former, you’re welcome. If it’s the latter, hey, at least now you know you deserve better, and moving on from false twin flame is the wiser choice.

Have You Met Your False Twin Flame? 17 Signs That Say So

No, yours isn’t a fake version of the real thing just because you two had a few fights recently. No, just because your partner can’t read your mind doesn’t mean you’re not meant to be. You’d be surprised to find that even true twin flames are susceptible to major fights and even breakups (though they always find their way back to each other). So how, then, can you figure out what you have? With the help of the false twin flame signs we’ve listed out for you, that’s how. Let’s get right to it then:

Have you met your false twin flame? Check out the signs of a false connection

    1. It doesn’t feel overwhelming

If you can aptly describe your relationship to a friend as “It’s nice. They are a nice person”, it probably isn’t worthy of the true flame status. A deep, all-encompassing spiritual connection usually takes a hold of you in such a relationship, all without ever making you obsessed.

If it feels more like a crush that doesn’t really make you feel a part of something bigger than yourself, it’s definitely a false twin flame sign. No, it’s not supposed to feel that way from day one itself. But if six months down the line you still have to think about whether you’re in sync or not, then maybe you aren’t.

    2. Personal space feels a little too good

Personal space is what holds a relationship together. Even in a dynamic where you’ve supposedly found your other half, reveling in the time you spend alone is healthy. It’s okay to spend a weekend apart or spend an evening or two glued to your video games.

But when you’re seeking more personal space in your relationship than what’s warranted, it may mean that yours isn’t really the whole ‘part of a greater whole’ dynamic. When you’re actively seeking to be away from your partner, you’re subliminally telling yourself that yours is a false twin flame.

    3. Your insecurities persist

A relationship as pure as the one we’re talking about today doesn’t leave any space for you to worry about the inhibitions you may have. Whether you’re meeting your partner for the third time or the thirtieth, thoughts like “Am I dressed well enough?”, “Will they like me?”, “Do they think I’m strange?” have no room in your mind.

Had it been the real deal, you would have felt ever so confident in your skin. When you’re worried about your insecurities to the point where they control your actions, it’s probably time to call a spade a spade. Being stuck in a false twin flame obsession will regenerate your past traumas leaving you doubtful about yourself and everything that is happening around you.

    4. What do fresh produce and your relationship have in common? No labels

Why do we meet false twin flames? Perhaps because the Universe is giving you another chance to look for the one who’s truly meant for you. You know it’s a false flame if your partner fosters an enormous fear of commitment which in turn comes in the way of defining your situationship.

When your dynamic doesn’t have a label, you automatically develop another thing in common with fresh produce: neither is going to last very long. A lack of labels can hamper the growth of any relationship and floating about trying to ‘go with the flow’ will only lead you to choppy waters. One of the biggest false twin flame signs is when you don’t know what to call whatever it is you have.

    5. Opposites attract, but not true twin flames

Firm believers of ‘opposites attract‘ aren’t going to take too kindly to this one. One of the inherent qualities of a true twin flame relationship is the presence of uncanny similarities in ideologies, hobbies, and personality. So, the next time one of you wants to go clubbing while the other would much rather read a book from the comfort of their home, maybe you shouldn’t call yourselves a twin flame connection.

    6. The sexual compatibility is palpable, but it’s also all that holds you together

Yes, being sexually compatible with each other is what drives any relationship to the next level (except asexual bonds), but it’s definitely not the only thing that holds relationships together. In a true twin flame connection, the sexual aspect is just one segment of a beautiful life where the partners grow wiser and stronger together, hand in hand, overcoming every obstacle.

On the contrary, if you witness your false twin relationship before the true twin flame relationship came to your life, you will see that all you do when you two meet is throw your clothes on the ground and head straight to the bedroom. Now it may seem like you’ve found the co-star to your own rom-com, but it’s probably not something that you can call a spiritual connection.

    7. Or, there’s minimal sexual compatibility

If you read the last point and went, “Ha! We barely ever get sexually intimate. Score!” Well, not really. In a twin flame relationship, there needs to be the perfect balance between low sexual compatibility and the point where physical intimacy is all that matters. In other words, sex does need to happen, unless true flames asexual. On the other hand, false twins have sexual desire but find it unfulfilled in a false twin relationship.

    8. Future plans couldn’t be further apart

You’ll go through many false twin flame relationships before your real twin flame comes around. And one of the few things that will be common among the fakes will be a disagreement on what the future looks like for the two of you. As a result, you’ll probably end up being unhappy in your relationship.

If one wants to eventually own a campervan and travel around the countryside and the other wants an apartment on the 30th floor of a New York City apartment building, you are false twins and probably aren’t made for each other. Consider these as tell-tale signs they are not your true twin flame and it’s probably high time to rethink your situation.

    9. You don’t feel confident about your partner

Ask yourself, can you say with complete certainty that your partner loves, trusts, respects, and admires you? Lying to yourself isn’t allowed, it’s what got you into this relationship in the first place. One of the biggest false twin flame characteristics is when you’re not confident about what your partner feels for you. A twin flame journey should have unshakeable security and certainty about your relationship.

    10. A false twin flame will give you anxiety

Fights are normal. In fact, the complete absence of fights usually indicates a bond that has yet to experience its true potential. How can you ever really know someone unless you drive them to the point of breaking that expensive china? But the biggest sign that false twin flame relationships isn’t the real deal is when your partner gives you anxiety. If you’re constantly worried about something going wrong, it’s important to understand that that’s not a part of being in a loving relationship.

It’s possible you might not feel very confident about the whole thing

    11. Your false twin flame will let insecurities dictate their actions

Enough talking about you, let’s shift the focus to your partner. They’re probably not feeling too great about this whole false twin flame scenario that’s going on. When under the promise of being your ‘other half’, you end up in a toxic relationship, both you and your partner are bound to let your insecurities take over. Take note of how confident your partner is, how comfortable in their own skin they feel, and what they act like around you.

    12. Trust and jealousy issues will be a constant

Sure, a little bit of jealousy can be healthy in a relationship if you both know how to handle it in the right way. But a false twin flame characteristic is when your dynamic constantly features trust and jealousy issues to the point where each friend now becomes a ‘threat’. Trust issues become a recurrent menace in a false twin flame journey.

    13. Your relationship falters as you grow

A healthy relationship dynamic encourages the growth of your bond as you both grow individually. There is a reason why they are called your mirror soul. But when you meet a false twin flame before the true twin flame relationship enters your life, you’ll realize that your individual growth may end up hampering the dynamic, owing to jibes like “You’ve changed”. This is one of the most prominent false twin flame stages you will go through.

    14. You’re hesitant to be yourself

There isn’t really a better false twin flame vs real twin flame comparison than this one. In the real deal, you’ll be unapologetically yourself and your bond will thrive as a result. In a relationship plagued with insecurities, however, you’re going to think a million times before you make that light-hearted joke about your partner’s frilly dress.

False twin flame synchronicities will sabotage your authentic self. At times, you might find yourself tiptoeing around your partner because they have this magical manipulative power to make you feel guilty and take full responsibility for every falling-out your relationship has. As time passes, this unhealthy situationship will suffocate you more and more, and moving on from false twin flame will seem like a better prospect.

    15. There won’t be a purpose to what you have

The biggest defining factor of a true twin flame bond is the purpose they inevitably arrive at: being on the road toward enlightenment, by each other’s side. They show all the characteristics of a positive relationship and agree on all the fundamentals. But when the purpose of your dynamic is to survive the one-year mark so you can finally have the ‘best’ relationship amongst your friend group, it’s time to rethink things.

    16. You don’t feel their presence when they’re not around

Wait, but isn’t that physically impossible? Well, yes, we obviously don’t mean that in the literal sense. When you’re in a relationship with your other half, you feel their energy with you, even if you’re not physically with them. On the contrary, telepathy with a false twin flame has the destructive power to inflict negative energy and hack your subconscious mind to alter your thoughts and feelings in a twisted way.

In a real twin flame, there will always be this strong psychic connection so you can feel the other person’s innermost emotions and sense when they are thinking about you. Spiritual compatibility such as this doesn’t come around very often, so don’t be disheartened if this enigmatic connection isn’t something you’ve felt yet.

    17. When moving on doesn’t feel impossible

One of the biggest false twin flame characteristics is that when things seem to be dying down, it’s not impossible to move on. Let’s get this straight, breakups are hard, and letting go of someone you once loved is never an easy thing to do.

But with an actual twin flame, moving on is an impossible process. Even if years pass, they’re bound to be reunited and stick by each other. Moving on from a false twin flame, however, starts the minute you decide to employ the no-contact rule.

What To Do If You’ve Met Your False Twin Flame

The main purpose of meeting false twin flames is to walk you through certain adverse experiences and bring in some changes in yourself for good, to finally help you reach the point of awakening. At this point, you can deduce what works for you in a relationship and what went wrong in the previous one.

If reading all the signs we listed out above has left you utterly confused about what you should do, we’ve got you covered. Did you think we’d just leave you hanging after telling you your partner is a false twin flame? So, should you say adieu and figure out how to get rid of a false twin flame, or accept that it’s okay if yours isn’t the best dynamic in the world? Should you keep up with their meat-loving ways while you’re a vegan, or vice versa? Let’s find out.

    couple dynamics

    1. Take out that yellow legal pad, it’s pros & cons time

Now that you know your partner is probably not someone who you can call your ‘other half’ (unless you lie to your friends), or your companion on your real twin flame journey, you might think there’s no hope left for your dynamic. But did you know that a twin flame is different from a soulmate? This means, just because someone isn’t a twin flame, doesn’t mean you can’t hit it off with them.

Let’s put it this way: Not everyone comes across their twin flame. In fact, it’s believed you only meet your true twin flame once every few lifetimes. So, your chances of simply running into them across the street aren’t too high to begin with. Forget all about the false twin flame characteristics and analyze the pros and cons of your relationship. Ask yourself questions like:

    • Does your partner make you happy?
    • Is yours a healthy dynamic?
    • Is there mutual trust, respect, communication, and love?
    • Would you like to stay in this relationship?
    • Do you believe this is the person you can end up with?

If the answers have been positive, there’s really no reason that you shouldn’t continue. Of course, if you’re hell-bent on trying to find your actual twin flame, you’re welcome to try and find this person. Good luck explaining that one to your current partner, though.

    2. Commit to whatever you’ve decided

Whatever decision you come to, be it with the help of friends or through an ungodly amount of retrospection, make sure you commit to it. If you decide to leave your false flame for your true flame, do so with sincerity and don’t contact your ex. If you decide to stay, don’t be on those dating apps trying to find your actual twin flame.

As far as your fake twin flame ex is considered, you may notice that for them it is easier to get over a breakup and they won’t be bothering you much. They might have started a new relationship already latching on to false hope pretty easily, thinking of that relationship too as their real twin flame union.

    3. Cutting cords with a false twin flame

If you end up deciding to break up with your fake twin, remind yourself why you chose to do that. False flames can be energy vampires, draining you out. You are doing the right thing by focusing on your spiritual growth and keeping yourself available for your true twin. To cut cords with a false flame pay attention to the following:

    • Focus on why you are doing it. Keep all those signs that you saw in your current relationship telling you that you are dealing with a false one handy. You are going to need it
    • Be prepared for some confrontation. Once you tell your current twin that they might not be your true soulmate, it might come as a shock to them since they could be feeling the exact opposite for you. They are going to try to convince you otherwise
    • Be prepared to feel a lot of emotions. You might even feel differently for a bit when you see your false twin’s reaction

Moving On From False Twin Flame

So, after comparing different false flame vs twin flame attributes, if you decided to stay, good for you! Now make sure you’re the best partner you can be. But if you decided to leave, you need to start moving on from your false twin flame so you can look toward greener pastures where there is a possibility of encountering your mirror soul. But letting go of a deep connection even though it may not have been a soul connection is not easy. You are going to need help.

Life goes on, and constantly striving to learn and evolve is the only way you’ll develop greater emotional and sexual compatibility with the partner you eventually decide on. Don’t get too fixated on the idea of a twin flame; try to find someone who makes you feel good. It can be as simple as that!

    2. Can a false twin flame become a real twin flame?

    3. Can your twin flame be toxic?

Though it may sound like the most wonderful union in the world, twin flame relationships aren’t always rainbows and butterflies. Finding the Right Fit: Tips for Identifying and Hiring Top Talent in International Healthcare – Morning Lazziness

    [ad_1]

Finding the right employees is essential to any organization, but it can be incredibly challenging in international healthcare. With a global pool of talent, how can you be sure you’re hiring the best possible candidates?

In this blog post, we’ll share tips for identifying and hiring top talent in international healthcare. From screening resumes to conducting interviews, we’ll help you find the right fit for your organization. Read on to know more

Define your ideal candidate – what skills and experience are you looking for in an employee?

When it comes to the ideal candidate for our open positions, we look for someone with the skills and experience to make a lasting contribution to our organization. We are looking for employees with a combination of creativity, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail that would make them successful in our environment.

On top of that, excellent communication skills and a commitment to hard work is also something we require from candidates so they can effectively collaborate with their colleagues.

Above all, we value dedication and enthusiasm when considering an applicant – you don’t need professional experience just as long as you possess the right attitude towards learning.

Use international job boards and social media networks to reach a wider pool of potential candidates.

As digital technologies continue to accelerate the hiring process, leveraging the right job boards and social media networks can help employers to reach a more global network of potential candidates.

Such channels are invaluable sources of diverse skills and approaches, making them ideal platforms for uncovering hidden talent.

Many of these international sites allow employers to take their recruiting campaigns global without visiting each country individually – something that would otherwise take time and resources that many businesses may not have available.

If used strategically, international job boards and social media networks can be powerful tools for scaling companies into new markets by allowing access to a larger pool of potential hires.

Utilize video conferencing tools like Skype or Zoom to conduct initial interviews.

    Business Tips For Aspiring Entrepreneurs

With the emergence of reliable video conferencing tools such as Skype and Zoom, employers are increasingly taking advantage of these technologies to conduct initial job interviews.

Not only is this convenient for applicants who might reside far away or need to juggle childcare duties or work responsibilities, but it can also be beneficial for employers in terms of cutting down on travel costs.

Furthermore, these technologies offer the opportunity to assess a candidate’s body language and facial expressions, often overlooked during phone interviews.

As a result, before bringing applicants out to their physical offices or venues, employers are utilizing video conference tools like Skype and Zoom to screen potential candidates – making the hiring process more efficient and effective for everyone involved.

Ask candidates about their cultural competence and ability to adapt to new environments.

    Running a Business From Home

Understanding a candidate’s ability to assimilate into and respect diverse cultures is critical during recruitment. It is beneficial to ask questions that designate how they use their cultural competence to create positive working relationships with people of different backgrounds.

Questions making it clear if the candidate can adapt to new environments and ways of thinking should also be asked. Doing so helps determine if the applicant is the right fit for the company, given that successful businesses often have team members from numerous backgrounds and areas of expertise.

By assessing candidates on these points, employers can ensure that someone with pertinent qualifications and equal respect for others’ cultures and beliefs will become an integral part of their organization’s operations.

Check references and verify credentials before extending an offer of employment.

As a responsible employer, it’s important not to rush the hiring process but to assess each applicant thoroughly. One of the best ways to evaluate an individual’s qualifications for a job is by researching their credentials and references.

This means checking with former bosses, contacts, and other educational institutions for honest assessments of an applicant’s character, level of education, and performance from prior experiences.

Checking references also allows you, as the employer, to better understand what kind of employee they’d be if you bring them on your team.

It gives employers peace of mind – if someone is going to be representing you or your business in any capacity, why not ensure they have the proper credentials? Verifying credentials is undoubtedly the right thing to do in the long run.

The global pandemic has forced many businesses to change how they operate, including how they recruit and hire employees. With so many people out of work, it’s more important than ever to take the time to define your ideal candidate and find the best person for the job.

International job boards and social media networks can help you reach a wider pool of potential candidates. At the same time, video conferencing tools like Skype or Zoom can be used to conduct initial interviews.

When speaking with candidates, ask about their cultural competence and ability to adapt to new environments.

Finally, before extending an offer of employment, be sure to check references and verify credentials. By taking these steps, you can ensure that you find the right person for the job – even in today’s challenging recruiting landscape.

Working in stressful environments with little recognition or reward can lead to increased stress, fatigue, and a lack of job satisfaction, all of which contribute to nursing burnout. Additionally, nurse-to-patient ratios sometimes need to be higher for nurses to provide adequate care for the patients they are responsible for.

Nurse burnout is a serious problem for those in the field. To prevent nurse burnout, nurse managers need to be creative in developing solutions that limit nurse workloads and simultaneously promote their well-being.

For example, nurses could benefit from more frequent breaks during shifts, increased staffing to prevent them from carrying too heavy of a burden and utilizing shared decision-making as much as possible.

Nurse managers should also ensure they are empowering nurses by giving them autonomy rather than inundating them with mind-numbing paperwork. Furthermore, it is essential to recognize hard work to keep nurse morale high and allow for open communication between nurse management and staff to address any problems promptly.

Nurses need to identify the signs of burnout in themselves and their colleagues, as well as understand the causes and consequences.

By doing so, they can take steps to prevent nurse burnout before it starts or gets worse. If you are experiencing nurse burnout, reach out to your supervisor or a trusted colleague for support.

  • Why staying socially active in retirement is vital

Why staying socially active in retirement is vital

    [ad_1]

We’ve all heard the phrase “use it or lose it.” It’s something that rings true throughout our lives. This phrase, however, has added significance when we reach retirement age. How we spend the sudden abundance of free time has a powerful impact on our mental, physical and cognitive health. Staying socially active in retirement is vital.

When we are younger, we may dream of an idyllic retirement, surrounded by white sand beaches, palms swaying, and an abundance of activities to share with friends and family. The reality can often be different. Even if you are lucky enough to live out your retirement in the ideal location, many retirees report significant challenges in keeping socially active lives.

In fact, one in four older adults say they feel isolated from other people at least some of the time, and one in three say they lack regular companionship. That’s a lot!

Why is that so important? Sadly, loneliness and social isolation have serious health repercussions. Both conditions frequently contribute to an increase in:

    • Chronic disease
    • Depression and anxiety
    • Functional and cognitive decline
    • Early mortality

    Ouch!

This brings us back to the idea of “use it or lose it”.

Studies show that engagement in social activities is directly associated with better cognitive performance over time. The more someone participates in social activities and maintains healthy social connections, the better their cognitive abilities. Conversely, less social interaction results in cognitive decline.

The good news is that there are many impactful ways you can address these issues in your own life. In the remainder of this article, we’ll touch on the areas of your health that social connections can improve. Then, we’ll offer you some inspired ideas to help you create, maintain, and expand your social life in retirement. It’s vital, after all.

    Read on!

How positive social connections improve health outcomes

    Decreasing anxiety

Oxytocin is a hormone produced by the body activated by positive social interactions. We’re all familiar with the special bond between mother and baby. Oxytocin plays a crucial role in creating these unique bonds, which has led to it being called the ‘bonding hormone.’ Oxytocins’ effects, however, go far beyond this one specific relationship.

Importantly, Oxytocin works with neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine to counteract feelings of anxiety and improving our sense of wellbeing. Evidence shows that Oxytocin is released through a wide variety of activities we associate with social connnection, such as holding hands, seeing a smiling face, dancing, and even hugging!

    Reducing obesity

We’re all aware that obesity is rising among the general population worldwide. Shockingly, more than 40% of American adults are obese, and that statistic is similar in many developed economies.

Obesity increases the risk for the following serious medical conditions:

    • High blood pressure/cholesterol; risk factors for heart disease
    • Type two diabetes
    • Breathing problems, such as asthma and sleep apnea
    • Joint problems, such as osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal pain
    • Gallstones and gallbladder disease

Obese older adults also have a higher risk of stroke, cancer, premature death and mental illness such as clinical depression and anxiety.

So what can you do about it? The simplistic answer is limiting your calorie intake, reducing alcohol consumption and eating a healthier diet. The less obvious answer (and more fun one) is increasing your social interaction.

Evidence shows a strong link between the size of a person’s social network and their body mass index (BMI). The more social interaction you have, the healthier your BMI is likely to be. Social connection helps with weight management as well as having a significant impact on individuals looking to lose weight.

    Cancer

Social connections also contribute to the quality of life experienced after a cancer diagnosis.

A standard narrative amongst cancer survivors is that the support from friends, family and even medical staff significantly increased their desire to fight the disease and live, and many studies show that this isn’t just anecdotal, it’s very real.

Beyond survivors’ social circles, significant benefits have been seen in attending group therapy, where patients with the same illness can get together and talk about their experiences. The results from research on a group of women with metastatic breast cancer showed that women who attended group therapy survived, on average, 36 months. While those that didn’t survived only half as long, at 18 months.

While the therapeutic effect of social connection is clear for those who already have cancer, research also indicates that the quality and number of connections an individual has greatly reduced their risk of developing cancer. For example, men living alone or with one other person have an increased risk of cancer mortality compared to men living with three or more people.

Living with people, interacting socially regularly and being involved in activities and hobbies offers protection against cancer.

    Cardiovascular Disease

In a recent article, researchers identified and defined five behaviours that are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. These were:

    1. Physical health behaviours
    2. Negative emotions and mental mindsets
    3. Chronic stress
    4. Social isolation and poor social support
    5. Lack of a sense of purpose

More and more research points to the importance of social connectedness for cardiovascular health. When comparing men with large social networks, socially isolated men (defined as unmarried, having fewer than six friends or family, and not belonging to any church or community groups), had a higher chance of dying from cardiovascular disease.

    Mental health

Up to this point, we’ve discussed the positive effects of social connection on our physical health. It should come as no surprise that social interaction has just a strong impact on our mental health.

    Some quick facts then:

The more dense social connection is within a community, the better mental health is across all groups. Those with strong support networks require less help with their health and feel more capable of taking care of themselves.

OK, so how do I improve my social life during retirement?

Now that you’re fully aware of the importance of maintaining a socially active life during retirement, how do you meet more like-minded people?

Many retirees often look to join groups or activities in their local community. These often include low-impact physical activities such as:

    • Swimming
    • Tai Chi
    • Yoga
    • Dancing
    • Tennis
    • Golf
    • Lawn bowls

Or, for more mentally stimulating activities:

    • Social walks
    • Coffee meet-ups
    • Lunch or dinner catch-ups
    • Games such as Chess, Mahjong, Cards
    • Attending quizzes
    • Book clubs
Older men being socially active by taking a walk in the park together.

The search to find like-minded companions can, however, be easier said than done.

Changes in society over the last couple of decades have meant many traditional community groups have closed and no longer exist. The worst years of the COVID pandemic compounded this issue and had a devastating impact on social networks for many retirees.

Rapid advancements in technology have created new opportunities to connect with other people online, but many online platforms have been shown to have detrimental effects on mental health and can result in increased feelings of social isolation. To top it off, most of the health benefits we outlined earlier come primarily through in-person interactions and a strong sense of being included in a community, rather than simply online interaction.

This, in a nutshell, is why we created Stitch.

Stitch is a community built to help anyone over 50 find the companionship they need.

Our grand vision is to help improve the lives of older adults in every country around the world and provide an answer to the social isolation and loneliness that everyone ultimately faces at some point in their lives.

What makes Stitch completely unique is that it’s a community, one that’s been built by members, for members.

That means everything at Stitch is a result of the efforts of Stitch members, whether that’s local activities and events designed to bring people together, online discussions with other members around the world, group travel events, helping with member verification, even volunteering their time to help grow the community.

Our members know what it’s like to need companionship, and ultimately everyone has a role to play in making life better for each other.

As a community, we are able to define standards of behavior that all members are expected to adhere to, such as being kind, being welcoming, being supportive, being friendly. And we are able to build and grow social connections for all our members. This may start online, but almost without exception eventually develops into real-world interactions, with the overall goal of making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of all our members.

If you’re retired, or even thinking about retiring, why not sign up for an account on Stitch and find out more? No matter where you live, you’re going to meet other Stitch members who can introduce you to the community and make you feel welcome.

We can’t wait to meet you!

  • 5 Creative Ways to Ask a Girl Out

5 Creative Ways to Ask a Girl Out

    [ad_1]

It’s a fact: women get approached all the time by guys who are interested in them.

Some days, it can even feel like there are fewer single women than men out there. So how are you supposed to get noticed if you don’t already know a girl…or even if you do, how do you stand out from all of the other guys out there trying to get her attention?

You’re definitely right to assume that she’d heard every cheesy pick-up line in the book, but don’t worry! Finding a way to make yourself stand out and catch a girl’s interest is easier than you think.

First things first: use your words

Whether on a dating app or in person, trying to start a conversation with “hey” or “’sup” won’t just get you ignored—it’s likely to annoy her. While you may see it as a friendly hello, to her, it’s a signal that you can’t keep up your end of a conversation. If you’re online, use full sentences and show interest in her based on what’s in her profile.

After that, be prepared to keep the conversation going! In person or online, communication is key. And while there’s probably some creative way to ask out a woman using mime or interpretive dance, the cringe factor is high. Creative and risky are two different things. You may be disappointed, but the fact is that a well-thought-out conversation starter is almost certainly a better approach than something showy.

Offer to buy her a drink. Yes, really.

This may seem like a cliché, or maybe even total Creep City, but when done right, offering to pick up the tab at a bar or coffee shop is a nice, low-pressure way to set the tone and let her know you’ve noticed her. If you’ve seen her at a café ordering the same drink you normally get, that’s a great way to open the conversation: “I noticed you and I both order pumpkin spice lattes in the middle of July. Since I was getting one for myself I thought I’d get one for you, too.”

You may think that if buying someone a coffee is good that offering to buy them lunch or dinner may be even better. However, coffee or a drink is definitely the go-to; it gives both you and the girl you’re interested in room to maneuver.

If she’s in a hurry, paying for her coffee is a simple, gentlemanly gesture that allows her to accept the gift even if she can’t stay and chat — but it will still give you the opportunity to connect, and puts you on good footing for the next time you run in to one another. And keeping it light and easy benefits you, too. If you two do get a chance to chat and the sparks aren’t flying, one or both of you can politely bow out in the course of minutes rather than an hour.

    Recommend a book or artist

This may seem a little bit puzzling if you haven’t actually talked to the girl you want to ask out yet. But if you’re online, look for something in her profile that resonates, and start the conversation with something like “Your profile mentioned (a certain book). Have you read this other, similar book? You might like it.”

In person, you can do roughly the same thing. But obviously no woman is walking around with a list of her likes and dislikes pinned to her back. Try reversing it: Walk up and say “I’ve been looking for something new to listen to. What’s been on repeat for you?” It’s a good way to start a conversation where there’s no natural “in.”

Do you see the common thread yet?

You may have picked up on something: it’s just plain easier to ask a girl out online. From finding a person to ask, to starting a conversation, to figuring out how to ask at all, online dating takes a lot of the guesswork out of setting up dates.

Unlike asking someone out in person, if you’ve been chatting with someone on a dating app, it’s clear they’re single and there to meet someone. And if they’ve been chatting you for any reasonable amount of time, a woman will most likely be interested in meeting you in person.

This isn’t to say that you should ditch meet-cutes in person. Flirting can be fun, and that in-person spark is a great feeling. But those moments are rare, and leave a lot to chance. Keep the possibility of in-person connections open, but it’s worth it to keep apps in mind.

    Finally: Just ask. Seriously

The most surprising way you can ask a girl out? Just say hello, tell her you find her attractive, smart and funny (if you know—don’t fib), and that you’d like to get to know her better.

You’d be surprised how few guys are actually direct when they want to meet a woman. Whether you’re in person or online, simply being straightforward is probably the most surprising thing you can do.

    A few things to remember

While a girl likes charming and direct guys, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when you approach women. First, being overly persistent isn’t attractive. Ask once, and if she says she’s not interested, respect that. While wearing her down with repeated requests to go out may win you a pity date, it definitely won’t win her respect.

Second, pick your moment. If you’re approaching a woman in person, don’t walk up and expect her to have time to talk if she’s reading, or has headphones in—or is at work—she’s busy and is giving off the nonverbal cue that she doesn’t want to be interrupted.

This can be tough, because you may feel like you need to work up the nerve to approach her at all. But if you wait until the time is right, your odds will be much better.

And remember — as cliché as it sounds, being yourself gives you the best odds of scoring a date with a girl you’ll hit it off with.

  • What Should I Never Say to Someone Who Is Grieving?

What Should I Never Say to Someone Who Is Grieving?

    [ad_1]

He sat in the ashes, scraping oozing sores with a pottery shard. Once a wealthy man, Job mourned alone in the city’s trash heap.

Following an encounter between God and Satan in the heavenly courts, the enemy set his sights on Job. Determined to prove that the man would only remain faithful to the Lord while under cover of blessing, Satan killed Job’s 10 adult children, enlisted men to destroy Job’s property and source of wealth, and attacked Job with festering boils from head to heel. Grief consumed Job. Scripture tells us that three friends “made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him” (Job 2:11 NKJV). If you’ve read the full story, you know that things did not go as anyone planned.

This story of Job and his friends raises an important question: should Christians say anything to someone who is grieving? If so, what things can we say? When should we avoid saying anything to someone who is grieving?

We will consider these questions and a few others in this article.

What Can Be Harmful to Say to Someone Grieving?

As part of my annual Bible reading plan, I am going through the book of Job. I am always a little surprised that Job’s friends so easily turned from their goal of supporting Job to words of accusation. The passage where they switch attitudes reminds me of Bible verses like Romans 12:15 (NKJV), “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep,” and Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV), “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted….”

The word translated as “tenderhearted” comes from the original word eusplagchnos which means gut-level empathy and compassion. A gut-level compassion reaches into the core of our experience and personal pain. It invites understanding and helps us relate to another’s experience. That sort of tenderhearted empathy neither minimizes, disregards, or judges the grief with which someone is struggling.

A few years ago, a friend lost her teenage son to suicide. A gentleman we both knew approached her and said with a bright smile, “He’s in a better place.” My friend blanched and tried to offer a response, but she was visibly uncomfortable. She longed for her child to experience life and grow into adulthood, but her grief and the manner of her son’s death were downplayed.

Though well intended, many other platitudes may illicit anger or injure an already hurting person. They include the following:

    1. “God needed another angel.” Not only is this statement theologically unsound, but God does not need people. (Acts 17:25) Instead, we are his unique creation in need of Him.

    2. “The Lord never gives us more than we can handle.” If we could manage life, then why would we depend on God? And those of us who have lost loved ones know that death feels far from bearable.

    3. “I know how you feel.” Every individual walks through grief differently. Other people can empathize, but assuming another’s feelings might make the bereaved feel misunderstood.

    4. “You’re young. You can [get married again], [have another baby] [insert other “you can do it again” action here].” Youth does not diminish death’s impact on the spirit. People are not commodities to be replaced. Grief, though uncomfortable, must be allowed its place for those in mourning to process their loss.

    4. “Time heals all wounds.” While tender thoughts of remembrance eventually replace the raw ache left when death occurs, the absence felt when a dear one passes remains.

    5. “At least they are not in pain anymore.” If the individual who died was a believer, family and friends will eventually find comfort in knowing their loved one is in heaven with the Lord. But to say this immediately following a loved one’s death? They are in pain. Empathizing with their situation would make a far more positive difference.

What Helpful Things Can We say to Someone Grieving?

While rash, haughty words tear down, empathetic words often provide comfort—like salve to a bleeding wound. Consider the words below that can help someone who is grieving.

    1. “I’m here for you. Why don’t I (fill in the blank).” Examples include watching the kids on Wednesday, organizing a meal train this month, or stopping by to pick up laundry on Saturday. Immediately following a death or funeral, those left behind may struggle to concentrate, deal with depression or anxiety, and require assistance with household tasks as life falls into a new rhythm.

    2. “It must be so hard to have lost ___________.” A blog post by funeral and cremation service Tippecanoe Memory Gardens observes that an important key to expressing empathy is indicating to the grieving individual that you understand their emotion. This sort of sentence conveys a willingness to listen to the heart of a friend in suffering.

    3. “Do you want to talk about how you are feeling today?” This question invites conversation and the healthy voicing of difficult feelings that may otherwise leave a mourner experiencing inner isolation.

    4. “I remember when we all….” Sharing a special memory or trait with a grieving family member or friend will encourage them during a dark time.

    5. “I would love to know more about ____________. Tell me about them.” Do not avoid mentioning the name of the loved one who has passed away. Instead, invite your friend to talk about them. The invitation will be a welcome one.

    6. “I can imagine how painful this must be.” While not every situation is the same, we all have or will experience emotional pain—including the searing sorrow associated with death. If we have not already experienced such loss, we can at least put ourselves in a similar position.

When Shouldn’t We Say Anything to Someone Who Is Grieving?

Some situations require wisdom and careful evaluation. As Proverbs 15:2 (NKJV) reminds us, “The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.”

In Job’s situation, his companions initially joined in his pain—weeping, mourning, and sitting in the dust with their bereaved friend for the traditional number of days. They empathized both through their actions and silent presence. But when each man opened his mouth? Stinging words pierced Job as much as the lesions Satan inflicted upon him.

Job’s companions hoped to encourage and instead inflicted pain. To avoid adding to someone’s emotional distress, we should sometimes avoid saying anything. A few general guidelines to consider include the following:

    – Knowing ourselves

    – Knowing the bereaved

    – Knowing the situation’s needs

Are we verbose or known to exaggerate? When a friend or family member experiences a difficult situation, do we tend to make comparisons? If so, it may be best to choose a different way to express care and concern.

Is the grieving individual an unknown colleague in a remote part of the building? Many of the personal statements listed in the previous section would seem disingenuous. At the same time, avoiding a coworker out of discomfort appears uncaring, while a group sympathy card or flowers might effectively communicate caring.

When heartache and loss are involved, we should err on the side of caution. As Aaron D’Anthony Brown wisely shares, “Less is often more, or in other words, the greater the grief, the less you say.”

How Can We Say Something with Actions to Someone Who Is Grieving?

When my friend lost her son, I hurt for her. One of my children had battled mental health issues, and my friend and I had been praying for each other. It was not difficult to imagine myself mourning at the graveside of my own child.

A few months after my girlfriend’s son died, she asked if I would like to participate in a suicide awareness walk as part of her son’s “team.” Her fresh, new pain poured out like water—sometimes like a brook filled with laughter as she spoke of favorite moments with Tucker. Other times, the raw ache came down as fierce as a summer storm—sudden and cathartic.

Even though I was invited to support a grieving companion through one specific action, other helpful actions include:

    – Babysitting

    – Petsitting

    – Cleaning

    – Yardwork

    – Laundry

    – Car maintenance

    – Grocery shopping

    – Meal preparation

    – Sitting together

    – Donating to a cause the deceased supported

What Is the Most Important Thing We Can Do For The Grieving?

In A Sacred Sorrow: Reaching Out to God in the Lost Language of Lament, Michael Card writes, “And as His loving wisdom does with all things… God would redeem… sorrow, transforming it by means of His hesed into a pathway back to the loving-kindness of His Presence.”

We may provide some comfort to the bereaved through words of hope, acts of service, or listening. But praying regularly for—and, perhaps, with—the bereaved as we gently point them to the love of Christ is the pattern scripture provides.

Through prayer, we seek God’s intervention which is far more powerful than our own.

  • How To Control Anger In A Relationship – 12 Ways To Tame The Temper

How To Control Anger In A Relationship – 12 Ways To Tame The Temper

    [ad_1]

On a spectrum of feelings in a relationship, if love and harmony are considered something to aspire to, anger is considered inexpedient. That’s why many couples are constantly in search of an answer to how to control anger in a relationship. Anger is a natural and inevitable part of any romantic partnership. When two people share their lives so intimately, there are bound to be clashes and disagreements.

When such situations arise, the focus should be on dealing with them the right way rather than suppressing your feelings out of the “anger is ruining my relationship” fear. At the same time, it’s of utmost importance to be mindful of your way of expressing this rage. If you can’t control your temper in a relationship, it can spell doom for your future together.

Unresolved anger in a marriage or relationship can have far more damaging consequences than letting it out. That’s why when you work toward controlling anger in a relationship, the endeavor should be to process it correctly and not let it pent up. Let’s figure out how you can do that with insights from counseling psychologist Niki Benjamin (M.Sc Psychology), founder of Papaya Counselling, who specializes in dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, CSA, and marital/interpersonal conflict.

Is It Normal To Feel Angry In A Relationship?

Before we try to understand the place of anger in a relationship, let’s delve into what anger really is. This emotion is largely misunderstood as a negative feeling that can wreak havoc on romantic relationships. Anger is also often regarded as the opposite of love. The belief that anger damages relationships is typically rooted in the idea that when you express your anger toward someone, you cannot love them.

In reality, all of these notions associated with angry feelings are incorrect. Anger is just another human emotion that cannot be dispensed with completely. It does not necessarily spell doom for your relationship, if it did, no couple in the world would be able to survive. What really matters is how you control anger in a relationship, instead of trying to avoid it altogether.

For more expert-backed insights, please subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Click here.

According to a research article by APA, there are some short-term benefits of anger such as drawing other people’s attention to us, correcting the wrongs in the world, and fighting against injustice. Although the long-term effects can be quite dreadful, anger energizes us to retaliate. APA data says that 25% of anger incidents involve thoughts of revenge. About managing anger in a relationship, another article published by UC Berkley gives two valid suggestions:

    • Don’t suppress yourself with statements like “I need to get rid of my anger” to avoid angry feelings
    • Take it slow when you get angry. Pause for a second, take deep breaths, and reflect on the situation

Circling back to the question, “Is it normal to feel angry in a relationship?”, Niki says, “Yes, it is normal to feel angry in a relationship but to what extent would depend on a variety of factors. Reasons such as betrayal, loss of trust, lack of clear communication, differential or imbalanced power dynamics could be legitimate reasons for feelings of anger.”

While it’s normal, the reasons largely determine the validity of your anger/response. If you get angry quickly in your relationship and lose your temper over the smallest of things, it isn’t going to be smooth sailing for anyone involved. To maintain harmony and not cause harm, understanding how to control a short temper in a relationship is vital.

Understand the reasons for anger in relationships

That being said, not all reasons for anger in relationships are created equal. Psychotherapist Erin Leonard believes that there are typically two forms of anger in relationships. The first kind is where one partner feels misunderstood, slighted, unheard or invisible in the relationship. The second kind stems from external factors affecting one of the partners.

For instance, Sasha and Martin often found themselves at loggerheads because Sasha felt that her partner didn’t take the things that were important to her seriously. He had a tendency to not show up or be late for her art shows, which meant the world to her. The more often it happened, the more it enraged her. She felt he didn’t value something so important to her. Such fundamental differences can be among the common reasons for anger in relationships.

The issue isn’t that anger arose in the first place. But what matters is how you react to being angry. If Sasha were to act irrationally, it would cause more problems than just Martin not attending her art shows. When you learn how to control anger in a relationship, you can process your emotions better. When love turns to anger due to such couple dynamics, it is possible, as well as crucial, to address the underlying issue swiftly, so that feelings of love and closeness can be restored.

Related Reading: 10 Things You Should Never Say To Your Partner

The second kind of anger does not stem from the relationship itself. In the case of Hannah and Miguel, for instance, her missed promotion at work, coupled with the mounting stress of managing children, home, and professional responsibilities, became the root cause of her rage. This tendency to lash out when things are not going your way is a manifestation of projecting your own angry feelings onto your partner and relationship.

That’s neither valid nor healthy. Since external factors do get the better of us most of the time, all of us could use some tips on how to control anger in a relationship. The key to controlling anger and sadness in a way that doesn’t damage or adversely impact your relationship is to treat it as a symptom that will allow you to get to the bottom of underlying issues that need to be worked out.

Speaking of the root of anger and frustration in a relationship, counseling psychologist Kavita Panyam previously told Bonobology, “Anger issues manifest in many ways. It may not only be screaming fits or verbal abuse. Emotional neglect could also be a way to tell if someone has anger issues. If they never have your back, show no support or care, and don’t make it a point to communicate with you every day, there’s a good chance that there are, at the very least, latent anger issues. The silent treatment is a symptom of anger issues as much as screaming and shouting.”

How To Control Anger In A Relationship – 12 Ways To Tame The Temper

Even if one accepts the fact that it is normal to feel angry in a relationship, there is no denying the fact that it is an exceedingly unpleasant place to be in. Besides, the way most couples channel these emotions is what causes anger issues in a relationship to turn chronic.

The bottom line is that anger in itself is not the problem. It is the inability to control anger and draw the line between fighting fair in a relationship and dealing low blows that’s problematic. That’s when anger damages relationships. Don’t exhibit your frustration in a relationship in such a way that it makes your partner tiptoe around you.

The key is that whatever causes anger in a relationship is not under your control for the most part. However, the same principle does not apply to your actions. You are 100% responsible and accountable for your actions and behavior irrespective of your state of mind. That’s why learning how to control anger in a relationship becomes even more vital.

If you’re wondering, “How do I stop being angry with my SO all the time?”, these 12 tips to tame your tempers will make you better poised to control anger and sadness in your relationship:

    1. Don’t direct your rage at your partner

Niki says, “Never act or speak while in the throes of anger. Wait for 20 minutes before reacting. Take deep breaths and sit down in a comfortable spot. Once you feel your breathing normalizing, reimagine the situation that triggered your temper. Then ask yourself, if your emotional response was/is legitimate and reasonable.”

Of course, it takes a great deal of self-control and practice to be able to contain your angry emotions within. Here are a few actionable steps you may follow to get started:

    • You could experiment with different ways to diffuse anger such as taking a walk, turning up some music, baking, and stepping out for some fresh air
    • Distance yourself from the situation that angered you
    • If your partner is demanding an answer from you right that very instant, try to calmly make him/her understand that you need some personal space to better process the situation
    • If you get angry quickly, things will go from bad to worse. Indulging in an activity that brings you joy and happiness can help you center your mind and process your feelings more pragmatically

    2. Understand why you feel angry

Niki adds, “If the answer to the above is yes, then make a list (by yourself) about why you felt/feel the way you do. Read it out loud to yourself. Does that make sense?” To fix anger issues in a relationship, first, you have got to identify the triggers which in particular provoke you to lose control over your rational senses and say hurtful things to your partner.

Overreacting when you’re full of rage at your partner is not completely unheard of. We’ve all been in situations where someone’s actions or words triggered us unreasonably because we attached unnecessary meaning to them. Or interpreted them with the baggage of our own prejudices and preconceived notions.

In times like these, journaling your thoughts and reading them aloud can be one of the effective and creative ways to diffuse anger. It allows you to distance yourself from your own emotions, and view them as dispassionately as possible. If the reasons still seem valid to you, it’s time to take them up to your partner and clear the air.

    3. Talk it out with your partner

Even if your reasons for feeling angry do not make sense to you after you’ve had a chance to process your emotions, reach out to your partner. There is hardly a problem out there that can’t be solved with the right intent and proper communication, a key to conflict resolution strategy in relationships. But to take that first step and open up about your adverse emotions is the real task.

Niki advises, “Ask your partner when is a good time for you to talk to them about something important that matters to you. Try and mutually agree upon a time that is reasonable to both of you.” Own your part in aggravating a situation or reacting in a less-than-pleasant manner. After all, that’s what fighting fair in a relationship is all about.

    4. Communicate effectively

One of the key elements of the “how to control anger in a relationship” puzzle is to communicate effectively. When you’re angry and hurting, communication hurdles can get amplified manifold. Especially, if you’re speaking to prove a point, win an argument, or score over the other. “Once you sit down to discuss, address each of your points with each other and give your partner the opportunity to explain their side of the argument. Let them finish what they have to say,” Niki recommends.

Regardless of the amount of frustration in a relationship that you are dealing with, you can’t ignore that you are still talking to your partner, a person whom you love dearly and who’s a big part of your life. Irrespective of your state of mind, you are supposed to treat them with respect. They deserve every bit of it, plus, a great deal of clarity about what’s bothering you. Active listening and choosing your words carefully is the trick here.

    5. Express disagreements calmly

“Express your disagreements, if there are any, only after you have heard each other out for every point you listed,” Niki adds. This allows you to approach your differences in a calm, collected, and matter-of-fact way and diffuse a potentially volatile situation. If you fret over the “anger is ruining my relationship” realization, a simple change in how you approach disagreements can make a huge difference.

Commit to eliminating saying hurtful things, using cuss words, or resorting to verbal abuse during arguments. If you’re trying to control anger in a long-distance relationship, remaining calm is paramount. Once the calmness has been compromised, it may make matters a lot worse. When you look closely at how anger damages relationships, these are the most common culprits. While you allow yourself to feel the full extent of your angry feelings, don’t channel them toward your partner unfiltered.

    6. Explore the other emotions involved

Kate had just discovered that her boyfriend, Ronni, had slept with a coworker when the duo took a business trip after months of working from home during the pandemic. Of course, as she discovered the cheating, she was full of rage toward her partner. It led to screaming, tears, a few things smashed around the house, and his phone flung out of the window. Since the two lived together, breaking up right then and there wasn’t an option.

Even though that was Kate’s first instinct, as tempers cooled down they decided to stay together and work past the cheating episode. Later, during a session, her therapist asked Kate to consider if any other emotions could’ve triggered her reaction that day. Kate, herself, hasn’t stepped out of home in 10 months, except when absolutely necessary.

Her whole world had shrunk to Ronni. Every other relationship – personal or professional – was consigned to the virtual realm. Then, for Ronni to have jumped in bed with someone else at the first opportunity was an unfathomable betrayal for Kate. It was the hurt, loneliness, and the effect of long-drawn isolation that triggered her anger.

Kate’s example applies to all of us too. Anger is always a secondary emotion that emerges as a defense mechanism to shield our primary emotions that may bring forth our vulnerabilities. Of all the tips on how to control anger in a relationship, this one may well be the most important, considering how easily most people might overlook this.

    7. Your anger belongs to you

No matter what the reasons for anger in relationships are, you must find a way to own your emotions. Unresolved anger in a marriage or a relationship may be directed at your partner, but since it stems from you, it also says something about your state of mind.

This is not to suggest that your complaints about your partner are not valid or all their actions are justified. They may be in the wrong. Even so, the actions may be theirs but the reaction is yours. That’s why the key to how to control anger in a relationship is to own it.

Once you own your anger, you can focus on yourself rather than your partner. Again, this is not to suggest that your partner is right and you’re wrong or vice versa. The idea is that when both partners focus on their own role in a situation, they are best poised to express themselves more clearly and work together to explore possible solutions.

    8. Look for solutions

How to control anger in a relationship? The simple answer is to remember that anger doesn’t solve anything. If anything, it makes situations worse. Now that you’ve taken another step to own and control anger in a relationship, the focus must shift to resolving the issue that triggered this emotion.

This is particularly helpful when there is unresolved anger in a marriage or relationship. Or when you’re caught in the loop of having the same fights over and over. Sophie and Tracy both work long hours, often at different times of the day. Sophie expected that she and her partner would eat at least one meal together. Tracy thought it was unreasonable to place such prerequisites in a relationship. This small, albeit persistent, difference of opinion had become the source of chronic anger issues in the relationship.

ʼMany fights and heated arguments later, they sat down to truly find a middle ground rather than each stubbornly holding on to their stance. Eventually, they decided that they’d eat breakfast together on at least three weekdays. For dinner, Sophie would check in with Tracy, and if the latter was free, they could quickly grab a bite together. If not, the former won’t hold a grudge. You see how shifting focus to finding solutions can help resolve even the most long-standing issues?

    9. Use ‘I’ statements

This tip on how to control anger in a relationship is essentially an extension of owning your emotions. To convey it to your partner without blame shifting or coming across as critical, it’s imperative to stick to ‘I’ statements. When you are using ‘I’ messages, you are only talking about the way you see the situation at hand. While ‘you’ statements are broadly based on assumptions you are making about your partner’s perspective. Here’s how to use ‘I’ statements to fix anger issues in a relationship:

    • Say “I felt bad that you didn’t show up on time” instead of “You are always late. It’s pointless to expect anything from you”
    • “I want you to share more about your life with me. Involve me, let me in” instead of “You never tell me anything about your life. I don’t know the first thing about you and it’s been six months of us dating”

The first statement opens channels for communication. The second only makes the other person defensive, leaving you trapped in a vicious cycle of arguments that lead nowhere. An article published by Boston University states that ‘I’ messages are not supposed to force the other person to fix your issue and aren’t concerned about their responses. It’s an expectation-free way of expressing your side of the story.

    10. Let go of grudges

Forgiveness in a relationship can be an effective tool for managing anger in a relationship. If you hold grudges for past actions, mistakes, and slip-ups, you will inevitably find yourself consumed by a sense of bitterness and injustice. Once you have resolved a fight and moved on, leave that issue or instance behind.

Don’t rake it up every time you and your partner get into an argument. “What about the time you forgot our anniversary?” “You stood me up in front of my friends six years ago.” “You used to spend hours stalking your ex on social media.” By repeatedly throwing around statements like these, you are essentially not letting old wounds heal.

Every time you bring up past issues, you will experience the anger, hurt, and sadness associated with them all over again. It will only aggravate the anger you’re feeling at the moment. On the other hand, by forgiving your partner and letting go of the past in true earnest, you foster an environment where every fight becomes an opportunity to strengthen your relationship.

    11. Cut anger with humor

Any angry situation can seem less towering and more manageable if you can find a way to laugh about it. That’s why lightening up is among the creative ways to diffuse anger and tension. This can be particularly helpful when you’re dealing with a usual flaring of tempers over unmet expectations in a relationship or feeling disappointed in your partner.

Likewise, if your partner tries to use humor to get through to you when you’re angry, play along as long as the issue at hand is not grave. However, in doing so, it’s vital to differentiate between sarcasm and humor. Sarcastic comments only hurt feelings and can make a bad situation even worse.

    12. Seek help when necessary

If you just cannot figure out how to control anger in a relationship, and it is damaging your bond with your partner, it may be an indication that you need help. This is especially crucial if you tend to spiral out of control when angry, doing things you regret later, or hurting your SO emotionally or physically.

In such cases, anger issues in a relationship are a symptom of deep underlying issues. It can range anywhere from stress to dysfunctional family dynamics (at present or in the past), financial matters, or even addiction. A trained therapist can help identify them and equip you with the right coping techniques. • It’s Time to Love Yourself This Valentine’s Day

It’s Time to Love Yourself This Valentine’s Day

    [ad_1]

Learning to love yourself may be harder than learning to love someone else. And having a great sex life when you don’t love yourself – well that can be tricky. So here are some things to think about as we approach Valentine’s Day:

    • Be your own best friend: When you start putting yourself down for something you did or didn’t do, or for something you are feeling, stop, just for a minute and pretend, that you’re having the same conversation with a friend. Would you really say to your friend “Boy, you are such an idiot that you fell for that guy? You could see a mile away he wasn’t that into you!” Or, and I think this is more likely, would you say “Stop beating yourself up. That guy is such a jerk and really led you on. You are worth ten of him!” Try, just for this week, treating yourself the way you’d treat a friend. You would be amazed at the difference.
    • Be good to your vessel: When you find yourself hating your body and imagining how much better life would be if you were thinner, taller, more toned, more flexible or whatever, just stop for a minute. Step outside your body and think how your body must feel when it is constantly being berated, blamed, abused and trying to be changed. And ask yourself: “Is that really how change happens?” by berating someone into something. Is that how you’ve changed other behaviors? No. The simple answer is to love your body, accept that it’s not perfect and take care of it, in the most loving and genuine way you can.

  • 3 Important Steps That Can Lead To Mr. Right After 50 | Find a Quality Man

3 Important Steps That Can Lead To Mr. Right After 50 | Find a Quality Man

    [ad_1]

3 Important Steps That Can Lead To Your Mr. Right After 50

Before we get started, wanted to let you know I’ll be teaching a FREE CLASS that will show you how to stop dating the wrong men over and over again and how to identify the right man for you.

It’s happening this Tuesday, February 7th at 8 p.m. ET.

Watch your inbox for details starting on Sunday. You won’t want to miss this!

    Now onto today’s over 50’s dating topic . . .

You can read the blog below or watch it on YouTube by clicking here.

Asking the Universe to bring Mr. Right to your doorstep is a great beginning for the love life after 50 you imagined for yourself.

By stating your desires, you are actually laying the groundwork about the man and life you want.

Once the foundation is in place, you’ll want to take action to get yourself closer to your love goals and these 3 steps are a great way to get on the path that leads to your dream.

Step #1 – Know Why You Want A Man And A Relationship In Your Life in your 50’s, 60’s and 70’s

Getting married at a young age, you and your ex probably shared pretty traditional goals.

You were poised to build a life together filled with jobs, a house, kids and maybe even a dog or cat.

Other than a fear of being alone or maybe wanting some financial support as you age, have you given any thought to the reason you’d like a man to be part of your life today?

As a single woman over 50, are you looking for companionship, a Saturday night date or a relationship where you’ll create a life together?

Do you want to marry again or live with someone . . . the two of you ready to support each other through the good and the not so good ride called life?

To get what you want . . . you have to know what you want and why you want it so you can choose someone who’s on the same page as you are.

Step #2 – Why Affirmations Alone Are Not Enough

You can say affirmations like . . .  “I deserve a man,” or “I’m worthy of the right relationship,” until you’re blue in the face.

Yet making your dreams come true starts with feeling the dream inside your whole being, especially in your heart before you’ve even met your Mr. Right.

Feel yourself with this great guy you’ve imagined coming into your life.

Dream how it feels to have him kiss you.

Create a vision and imagine what it would feel like taking a great trip together or hanging out with each others friends and families.

Once you are feeling the “AS IF” feeling . . . then say your affirmations.

The two work well together for keeping your dreams alive.

Step #3 – Date To Date While You’re Waiting For Mr. Right

Being around male energy in your 50’s, 60’s and 70’s not only feels good . . . it can be a lot of fun when you allow it!

The best way to make this happen is by dating to date.

Dating can be the biggest drag when you go on a date looking for your next husband.

You sip your coffee and mentally check off what the guy does and doesn’t have based on a first impression, which by the way isn’t always right.

Instead, why don’t you set an intention of going on a date just to meet someone new and interesting?

You might find if you give a nice guy a chance by hanging out and truly getting to know each other . . . he might turn into the Mr. Right the Universe brought to your doorstep.

I met the man of my dreams in my 60’s!

Lisa, before I met you, I was struggling with falling for the same type of guy who always ended up hurting me and breaking my heart. In your Group program, I created my Quality Man Template (a clear vision of who I wanted in my life today). It helped me see that in the past, I was always looking for what was on the outside versus the whole package. I had a hard time changing my mindset to break this pattern but your program helped me to change that and you were always there for me all the way until I met the man of my dreams!

Your program changed my life. It works! I don’t think I’d be in this type of relationship without your help! Lucy, NY

Would you love having a good man in your life like Lucy now has?

Imagine . . .  no more searching for Mr. Right.

No more wondering where can I find him?

And waking up every morning with that love and sweetness in your life.

If this sounds amazing, just click here and let’s set up a time to talk and see how we can make this happen for you!

    Believing in you!

    Big hugs ~

  • What Reclaiming Feminism Means to Me as a Black Feminist

What Reclaiming Feminism Means to Me as a Black Feminist

    [ad_1]

I’m a Black feminist. A womanist. A hip-hop feminist. A crunk feminist. An intersectional feminist. A Caribbean feminist. A diasporic feminist. A disabled feminist. A justice feminist. A Feminist.

These are all the terms I grappled with as I sought to better understand my own relationship to feminism. These subsequent terms all served as not only a theoretical praxis but a political intervention in the social, cultural, and political exclusion of Black women, femmes, and gender expansive people within the feminist movement. To me, feminism would never serve as a liberatory framework so long as it did not center my liberation and the liberation of the most marginalized. Feminism was for white women.

Instead, I looked to the Black radical tradition for guidance. I opted for intersectionality, womanism and Black feminist frameworks from our feminist forebearers like Kimberlé Crenshaw, Audre Lorde, Brittney Cooper, Joan Morgan, and more. I was inspired by the likes of powerful Black women throughout history, from Harriet Tubman and Nanny of the Maroons to Angela Davis. I admired the Black women making history now, including Tarana Burke, Alicia Garza, Raquel Willis, Bree Newsome, and more. All of whom, in many ways, embody feminism as an intersectional liberatory framework.

I, like so many of the women I both celebrated and admired, live in the intersections. I am a Black woman, living with an invisible illness here in the United States. Raised a Rasta and born from within the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. To me, feminism would never be sufficient. But as I began interrogating my relationship to feminism as a Black woman, I have made space in my personal evolution to reclaim what it means to be a feminist. I embrace intersectional feminism as part of a feminist praxis. One that has been defined and refined by Black women, especially queer Black women.

I have had the immense privilege of interviewing, speaking with, and communing with some of the very same women I’ve been inspired by as part of my work as co-founder of FEMINIST alongside my comrades in this work, Blair Imani and Ky Polanco. In almost every interview, we pose a version of the question: What does being a feminist mean to you? A central reflection you’ll see throughout the pages of this Zine.

Surprisingly and yet, not surprisingly, almost every influential Black woman I have spoken to has either resisted feminist terminology, made a point to add a descriptor before claiming themselves a feminist, or expressed a similar evolution in their understanding around Feminism.

I spoke with activist, organizer and cofounder of SisterSong, Loretta Ross, who coined “Reproductive Justice”—a term we’ve since embraced as a feminist rallying cry. When I asked her what it means to be a feminist, she said, “I thought feminism was a white women’s thing. And so I had been a practicing feminist before I would use the ’f-word’ for like a decade. Because I was in the early anti-rape movement but I used to say, “I’m not a feminist, but…”. That always preceded me denouncing feminism.”

In speaking with the activist, organizer, author, and founder of the #MeToo movement Tarana Burke, she shared a similar sentiment, saying, “I remember there was a time of my life when I didn’t identify as feminist. It’s always funny when I think about that time period and how much I’ve learned between then and now. But feminism is just what I do, and who I am, and that’s not to the exclusion of anybody, and I think people don’t understand that about feminism in general.”

To know that these Black women, these feminist icons whose work feminists everywhere have looked to, also struggled with their relationship to claiming themselves as Feminist speaks to the continued exclusion of Black women within feminist movements. And yet resistance, particularly Black resistance, is at the foundation of my experience with feminism. Black women and gender expansive people have charted the path for feminism. They have refused patriarchal violence, racial violence, and gender-based violence. They have stood at the frontlines of almost every movement, coined the terms and language popular culture has since adapted, and have continued to deepen our own intellectual understandings of feminism.

To be a feminist is to be entrenched in the work of Black feminists. And so, feminism is not feminism without Black women and gender expansive people. Feminism is not feminism without Black queer people. Feminism is not feminism without the most marginalized. Feminism is not feminism without us all.

We must continue to reclaim feminism no matter what precursor, descriptor, or version of it we choose to proclaim so long as it centers the most marginalized because as Burke said, “Feminism is just what I do, and who I am, and that’s not to the exclusion of anybody.” Our collective liberation requires it. It requires us to be transnational, to be intersectional, to collectively fight for our liberation. To listen. To share our stories. And to defend us.

What Percentage Of Marriages Come From Online Dating?

    [ad_1]

I was in a long-term relationship during the rise of Tinder. When I found myself single and ready to date again, I was skeptical of dating apps. The idea of meeting someone online felt forced, and the horror stories I heard from friends fueled my skepticism. I gave online dating a shot with low expectations. Perhaps it’s why it worked so well for me – I met my fiancé on Bumble soon after my first foray into the world of swiping.

The Percentage Of Marriages That Come From Online Dating

Since then, I’ve attended three weddings where the couple met online. Anecdotal evidence aside, all this begs the question: What percentage of marriages come from online dating these days? According to SimpleTexting data shared exclusively with Bustle, over 13% of daters got engaged or married after meeting through an app. This is in line with the findings of a Pew Research Center study that revealed that 12% of Americans have married or been in a committed relationship with someone they first met through a dating site or app.

“A growing number of marriages today can be attributed to online dating platforms, as more and more singles are relying on them to build meaningful relationships. The convenience they offer and the ability to tailor one’s search to their specific preferences have made them increasingly popular for finding long-term partners,” says Sam Holmes, a relationship counselor and the editor of Feel and Thrive

The growing number of marriages that come from online dating is not surprising when you consider the fact that online dating is now the top way of meeting a love interest. A 2019 study showed that meeting online has become the most popular way couples meet, eclipsing meeting through friends for the first time around 2013.

The Benefits Of Meeting Your Future Spouse Online

Michael Rosenfeld, a sociologist at Stanford who has extensively studied online dating, shared some of the benefits of this trend in a Washington Post interview. “For people who have a hard time finding partners in their day-to-day, face-to-face life, the larger subset of potential partners online is a big advantage for them,” he said. “For folks who are meeting people everyday—really younger people in their early twenties—online dating is relevant, but it really becomes a powerful force for people in thin dating markets.” For example, if you’re in your 40s and divorced, a lot of people your age are already settled down. Online dating opens up more chances of meeting someone.

Rosenfeld also discovered that people who meet online tend to progress towards marriage faster than those who meet offline. According to him, there are two reasons for that. The first one is the ability to be more selective: “When you’re using online dating, and there’s the possibility of selecting on characteristics that you know you’re going to like, you’re going to know a lot more about people before a first date.” Additionally, the “information-gathering that courtship is really about is sped up by the information you can gather from the profiles and from a person before actually meeting them.”

Makes sense, right? Your partner pool expands, your ability to make choices increases, and you get to assess your compatibility more efficiently than when meeting in real life.

Interestingly, the journey of meeting online may also lead to happier, stronger relationships. Research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) revealed that marriages that began online were slightly less likely to result in a marital break- up (separation or divorce) and were associated with slightly higher marital satisfaction than marriages that began offline.

Want To Get Married? Make Online Dating Work For You

You may be thinking, “Great. But 13% of marriages is not a lot.” Regardless of the data, successfully dating online is about making it work for you. Just like in the days before the internet existed, there will be people who are just looking to hook up and people you won’t connect with on dating apps. Plus, nurturing a relationship requires effort no matter how you meet. Instead of focusing on the odds of online dating leading to marriage, your best bet is to refine what you can control – the way you approach the process.

“When it comes to online dating, it is important for singles to keep an open mind and be realistic about their expectations. While it can be tempting to expect a perfect match with someone you find online, online dating is still about connecting in a meaningful way and building relationships. Additionally, a realistic and honest approach to online dating can actually increase the chances of finding someone compatible with your goals and values,” according to Holmes.

The Pew Research Center survey mentioned above showed that about 7 in 10 online daters think that lying to appear more desirable is common on dating platforms, so honesty is a crucial factor for success, both in terms of being honest yourself and using your discernment to identify potentially dishonest dates.

“With the right strategy, online dating can be a great tool to help you find your perfect partner. Start by asking yourself what kind of person you want to meet and be clear on your intentions, then narrow your search according to those parameters,” adds Holmes. “Once you’re engaging in conversations, keep things genuine and authentic to get to know the other person. Finally, don’t be afraid to take the conversation offline – a good relationship should begin in person.”

According to Daniel Conn, a relationship coach at RelationshipAdvisers.com, there are some online dating apps that are better for marriage than others. “If you are looking for a serious relationship or want to get married through online dating, I would recommend specialized dating sites like eHarmony, which will match you with compatible people based on a very extensive test.” He also suggests staying away from Tinder, which tends to be more hookup-oriented.

He’s onto something – eHarmony once revealed that 542 users a day get married through its platform. If you date with intention and show up with honesty and transparency, you could soon become part of the promising statistics about online dating and marriage.

We dig into ‘snow storming’ relationship trend

    [ad_1]

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2023/01/24/snow-storming-anti-cuffing-season-dating-trend-explained/11018371002/?gnt-cfr=1

We dig into the ‘snow storming’ relationship trend

    Jenna Ryu

    USA TODAY

Not everyone is looking for a cuddle buddy during the colder months. Some people are opting for the opposite in a new, anti-cuffing season dating trend.

It’s called ‘snow storming,’ which involves ending your relationship in favor of a fresh start in the new year.

‘Snow stormers tend to up and leave their long-term relationship, even when it might appear there is not an obvious reason,’ says dating and relationship coach Kate Mansfield

. ‘In some circumstances, it is because the relationship is toxic.’ But in other cases, people may have felt pressured to stay in dissatisfying relationships – especially during a season characterized by loneliness.

That’s why snow storming offers some people the chance to reevaluate their romance while encouraging them ‘refine their standards and become firmer about what they will not put up with,’ says Suzannah Weiss, residential sexologist for Biird.

But is this dating trend for everyone? Experts say it’s important to proceed with caution.

What is ‘snow storming’ – and should you consider it?

Unlike winter coating, experts say snow storming is a more refreshing and healthy trend, inspiring people to decisively leave unhappy relationships and embrace being single.

For anyone in an unhappy or toxic dynamic, snow storming can help to achieve freedom and relief from a high-conflict environment. However, a relationship doesn’t have to be abusive to justify leaving.

Some couples, for instance, stay in dead-end relationships that they know won’t last because ‘it is comfortable for now or saying goodbye feels too hard,’ Weiss says. That’s why the new year can be a time to reevaluate whether your current romance fits with your goals.

‘The people best suited for snow storming are those who have a history of accepting subpar treatment or staying in relationships after they are no longer experiencing a net gain from them,’ she says.

‘Snow storming’ isn’t for everyone. Here’s what to keep in mind

So should you break up with your partner?

Not so fast. It’s normal, especially in long-term relationships and marriages, for your feelings to wax and wane. But boredom alone should not be the reason to end an otherwise comfortable and stable romance.

Before breaking up, Weiss says it’s crucial to communicate your concerns and resort to snow storming only if you are unable to resolve incompatibility issues. ‘If the relationship is good overall and you’re just feeling bored, try doing something to reconnect like going on dates or a trip together. Going to couples’ therapy might also be helpful for working through issues,’ she suggests.

Mansfield also warns against using snow storming as a tool to avoid intimacy and commitment. ‘They may have unresolved trauma or intimacy avoidance, and snow storming can be a way for them to keep jumping ship, rather than dealing with your own fears and issues.’

Having trouble ending your relationship? Here’s how you can ‘snow storm’

Ending your relationship abruptly, and seemingly without warning, can be upsetting for both parties. To make things a little easier, Mansfield and Weiss suggest:

Reevaluating your priorities: Ask yourself, ‘Are they treating me in a way that feels good?’ ‘Are they someone I respect?’ ‘Is this relationship adding to my life?’

Trying to resolve your problems together before resorting to snow storming.

Snow storming in person: Be calm, open and honest in providing your partner closure.

Being upfront : ‘Make sure you are not just bored or playing games to avoid commitment,’ Mansfield says.

Changing your attitude about singlehood : Being single during cuffing season doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Weiss says it can be an opportunity to meet new people or plan fun activities with friends and family.#datingtips

  • Enhance Your Valentine’s Day With Some New Toys

Enhance Your Valentine’s Day With Some New Toys

    [ad_1]

Part of our overall treatment is helping men expand their sexual activities to a more playful and pleasure-focused approach. Many men adhere to a very rigid sequence of events that unfold for sex to be considered “successful.” Understandably, this rigid approach can frequently result in performance anxiety which leads to all kinds of sexual function issues.

One approach is to incorporate toys into sexual activity. And as Valentine’s Day is coming up, toys are a great way to bring more fun into the bedroom. Men are used to toys. We had them as babies and we played with them as kids in the sandbox! Lots of men have adult toys such as motorcycles, computers, and sports equipment. I like the idea of using it because a toy invokes the idea of play. If we’re playing, the focus is on just having fun.

Unfortunately, the term “sex toys” carries a lot of baggage. If I mention a sex toy in a session many men often go straight to imagining giant dildos or scary devices they’ve seen on the Internet. When I suggest toys however, it is far more benign. Everyday objects can become sex toys! A tennis ball can be rolled up and down limbs and bodies as a great massage toy with a partner. Pieces of fabric, scarves, and even old neck-ties, can be used to enhance sensation or even as a blindfold. A hairbrush gently rolled on the skin can deliver a delightful prickle-tickle.

One of our top recommendations is a body massager called the Lush Passion Wand. Many of our patients purchase them here in the office. These are body massagers that are sold in department stores or specialty shops or even drugstores. These devices are very strong vibrating massagers that feel amazing on a sore neck or sore muscles and tired bodies. They also feel amazing on erogenous areas. We often don’t think of vibration as a great sensation for men, but the fact is, many men love the strong stimulation that comes from these devices.

So, do some exploring. Take a look around the house for everyday objects which you can turn into erotic toys. Do some online shopping and find some devices which tickle your funny bone and start playing! If you’re interested in exploring with sex toys, but don’t know where to start, we can help. We’ve compiled a list of our top recommended products to give you a leg up this Valentine’s Day.

You can also contact us to schedule a free consult if you’re experiencing sexual dysfunction or would like to learn more about how to incorporate these toys into your sexual routine.

  • Lust Vs Love Quiz

    Lust Vs Love Quiz

    [ad_1]

Are you in love? Or is it just good sex? Wondering how to spot the love and lust difference? After all, both can overlap sometimes. And love is incomplete without lust, isn’t it?

British writer C.S Lewis says,“Lust is a poor, weak, whimpering, whispering thing compared with that richness and energy of desire which will arise when lust has been killed.” Another saying goes like, “Lust without love is pleasure. Lust with love is passion. Love without lust is pristine. Love with lust is poetry.”

So, is it lust or love? Are you mistaking overwhelming physical attraction for love? Take this easy quiz, consisting of just seven questions to find out…

Finally, counselor Neelam Vats says, “People who are in love generally feel a powerful sense of empathy toward their beloved. Feeling the other person’s pain as their own and being willing to sacrifice anything for the other person comes naturally when you love someone unconditionally.” So, if that sense of empathy is missing, maybe it’s just lust.

  • Telepathy In Love – 14 Undeniable Signs You Have Telepathic Connection With Your Partner

Telepathy In Love – 14 Undeniable Signs You Have Telepathic Connection With Your Partner

    [ad_1]

Have you ever loved someone so much that you found yourself asking whether telepathy in love is real? If you have, then you are at the right place. Some might argue that you are being delusional and ridicule the idea of having a psychic connection with another human but contrary to that notion, feeling a telepathic connection with soulmates is actually possible.

We reached out to Kreena Desai, an Astrology and Vastu consultant, and she said, “Yes, soulmates can truly have a telepathic connection. Soulmates are usually considered to be parts of the same soul, like leaves on the same branch. Just like we can intuitively work both our hands together – the way one hand knows what the other is doing – the same goes for soulmates as well. There’s a common myth that one person can have only one soulmate.”

When we fall completely and madly in love with someone, we often use the phrase “two bodies and one soul”. It basically means the ability to connect with your partner on a deeper level. You will develop intuitive abilities toward them. Most of us might have experienced this scenario – You think of your significant other and you receive a text from them as if they knew you were thinking about them.

That’s one of the examples of telepathy in love. Surely it could have also been a pure coincidence, but what if that was the power of the psychic bond you share with them? Now that’s something to think about.

Can True Love Create A Telepathic Connection?

To answer that question we must first understand what telepathic connection means. In simple terms, it’s a twin flame connection and it’s the non-verbal ability to communicate with someone with the help of your thoughts. No sign of the five senses will be involved in this type of communication. Of course, nobody can experience fully and exactly what is going on in another person’s mind. It’s just the transmission of thoughts from one mind to another.

If you are asking, ‘Does telepathy work in love?’, then the answer is, ‘Yes, it does work.’ Communicating telepathically with someone you love is one of the most uplifting feelings ever. Imagine someone understands you without you having to tell them how you feel. Isn’t that the sweetest thing ever? Telepathy in love can is something like that.

Kreena says, “One of the most common signs of telepathy in love is when conversations just flow. It doesn’t have to be deep conversation topics. It can be anything trivial or silly either. You often find yourselves finishing each other’s sentences.” Maybe you and your partner say the same phrase together. Maybe you were thinking of a song and out of the blue, your partner starts humming it. These are the common signs you have a telepathic connection with someone which we often overlook. Keep reading to find more interesting ways of soulmate psychic connection.

    Does Telepathy Work In Love?

Is it possible for you and your soulmate to talk telepathically? While telepathy does work when you are in love with someone and share a good bond with them, it doesn’t mean you will be able to communicate with them. You won’t be able to have full-fledged conversations with them. This is what you need to understand about the telepathic connection between soulmates. Telepathy doesn’t need words to convey the message that you love them.

Soulmate telepathy is a feeling that gets transported telepathically from one person to another. Telepathy with someone you never met is a little bit impossible, says Kreena. On the other hand, soulmate telepathy can any time during the day. You can also end up communicating with soulmate in dreams. Telepathy in love works best when both the partners are empathetic toward each other and share an unbreakable bond. Telepathy in love won’t work if there is a lack of affection in a relationship. They must have immense trust in each other and don’t let suspicion dent the relationship. Soulmates separated by distance can talk to each other by following the below steps:

    • Sit in a meditative state
    • Visualize your soulmate and try to imagine what they must be doing at this time
    • Send positive energy toward them
    • Be ready to hear from them

How Do You Know If You Are Telepathically Connected To Someone?

Soulmates separated by distance can definitely feel the telepathic connection if they have been practicing meditation regularly because meditation is one of the ways a person can cultivate self-awareness and can be aware of one’s innermost thoughts, feelings, and desires. You will know you have a strong telepathic love connection with someone when you sense that they are trying to contact you. This person you are thinking about is trying to reach out to you by thinking about you at the same time as you are thinking about them.

When you have an emotional connection so strong, you will be able to feel their love. Furthermore, the two of you must have an intense spiritual bond if you are trying to telepathically connect with each other. You have to remember when trying to establish a telepathic love connection with someone that you won’t directly be able to experience what they are thinking or what they are going through. All you will feel is:

    • Their energy and positivity radiating toward you
    • You will feel their presence even when they aren’t around you
    • A mutual friend will talk about them at the same time when you are thinking about them

14 Undeniable Signs Of Telepathy In Love

Telepathy in love is when there is an automatic receipt of your loved one’s thoughts and feelings irrespective of the location. Whether you are miles apart or sitting right next to them, you will feel a strong sense of cosmic connection and spiritual connection with them. It’s an authentic and timeless bond which is very rarely formed. It cannot be seen or touched. It can only be felt.

    1. You can predict their moods

Kreena adds, “A telepathic connection with soulmate happens when one can predict the other person’s mood. You can tell whether they are in the mood for coffee or tea. You can predict how your partner is going to react to a certain fight scene or a love song. If you can predict each other’s moods, it is one of the signs you have found your soulmate.

You know how to cheer them up. You even know intuitively what they will like when they aren’t feeling good. It’s a shared emotion that takes place between two people. You are with the love of your life and you just know what’s going on with them and what they are feeling.”

    2. You can feel their love in silence

The beauty of silence emerges when it’s between two lovers. Imagine it’s a lazy Saturday evening. Instead of going out to a party and meeting friends for a drink, the two of you decide to pick up Chinese takeout and stay in. That can be a romantic indoor date. The two of you are reading a book or just scrolling Instagram.

And all of a sudden, you feel a wave of love and comfort surround you. You can feel their hugs and kisses even when there is no kissing or touching involved. You feel safe. You feel you belong there. Telepathy in love is an inexplicable emotion that doesn’t restrict itself to just tranquil situations.

Even if you find yourself in a difficult place at work or facing some issue with a family member, you might feel the love of your soulmate protecting you and telling you that they are there for you. Their love which is guarding you from harm’s way is one of the signs you have a telepathic connection with someone. It’s one of the ways to show someone you care by being there for them.

    3. Hearing their voice in your head

She says, “Another sign of a soulmate psychic connection is when you hear their voice in your head with the exact sentences that they would say when you think of them in certain situations. Like when you wear a particular dress, you know exactly what they would say and how they would compliment you.

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation that your partner would have warned you about beforehand. You can hear their lecture even before you narrate this specific incident to them. It’s little things such as these that contribute to telepathy in love.”

    4. You can interpret their thoughts and emotions

When the terms telepathy or soulmate psychic connection are uttered, most people are under the impression that it’s something spooky, straight out of a horror movie or a satanic ritual. But it’s not. It’s just a deep soul connection. It’s as simple as knowing what the other person is thinking at a particular moment.

You don’t have to ask your significant other if they are upset even if they aren’t showing any signs of being disturbed. You just know that they are. Even without your partner verbally expressing their worries and difficulties, you will be able to tell what’s eating them up on the inside.

    5. Always in agreement with them

Kreena says, “When looking for signs you have a telepathic connection with someone, look for the ways in which you agree with each other. You will find yourself agreeing very easily to do things that they like without them expressly telling you to do so. It’s one of the signs of unconditional love in a relationship.

“For example, you might hate late night outings but you agree to do them. Or you may quit a particular habit because you know that they don’t like it even though they haven’t expressed their concern over it. It’s basically a very effortless transformation within yourself. Change is never easy. It’s the efforts you make to bring about the changes within you. It’s as if an internal energy of love is making you do so.”

    6. Signs of telepathic connection with your SO – Your thoughts align

One particular sign of telepathy in love I commonly experience is the alignment of thoughts between my partner and me. This ability springs from a strong bond of love and intuition. A few days back I wanted to eat burgers. And my significant other, who is not really a fan of McDonald’s, looks up from his screen and asks if I want to get burgers. When your thoughts align, that’s when you know you have found “the one”.

I always wonder if that kind of soulmate psychic connection happens because our minds are also connected along with our souls and bodies. My mind transfers the idea even before it escapes from my lips. This is undoubtedly one of the most unique and magical experiences of being in love.

    7. Telepathy in love in the form of dreams

Some dreams are known to be signs and messages from a loved one. Kreena says, “Dream telepathy is a concept that believes it is possible to communicate thoughts and ideas to another person while they are dreaming. It is a psychic way of communication and is believed to be effective in creating bonds. It is one of the signs of magnetic attraction between two people.

“While there is no concrete proof of this and the concept in itself is very rare, there is a slight variation to this called lucid dreaming. It’s that phase of sleep when you are asleep and dreaming but you are aware that you are dreaming. It’s that phase between being asleep and waking up. Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, was the first to document telepathic dreaming.

“It has been proven that at this particular point in time, our subconscious mind is most alert and hence unknowingly picks up on a little environmental information which gets ingrained in our minds. This is the idea behind the technique of listening to tapes while sleeping to help people get rid of addiction, depression, etc.”

    8. Spiritual connection

The spiritual synchronization which takes place between two people can happen only when both of them feel secure and comfortable with each other. When you allow yourself to be free and your true self around someone and cultivate emotional safety, that’s when the spiritual connection happens.

It’s truly a miraculous feat how all your worries and anxieties melt away when you are with someone you feel a soulmate psychic connection with. This could easily be one of the highest forms of telepathy in love as it requires a balanced mind and soul.

    9. You receive love energy

Kreena says, “Energy travels from one place to another very quickly. For instance, try smiling in a tense situation and you will notice a lot of people doing the same around you. One of the signs someone is sending you love energy is when you feel a warm sensation out of nowhere. There are different types of relationships, but the one where you receive and send love energy is the most special one.

One of the scientific examples of energy traveling is when the taste of food changes depending on each other’s moods.” One of the signs you have a telepathic connection with someone is when your mood gets altered all of a sudden. You feel loved, happy and energetic. You will feel their presence. It’s the positive energy and love they sent you that’s making you feel that way.

    10. Accepting change is a sign of telepathy in love

As human beings, one of the things we find difficult to accept is change. And when you find yourself becoming more accepting toward change or even changing your routine for someone, then it is one of the signs you have a telepathic connection with someone. The willingness to change is what matters.

“If you are in love with someone and you are looking for ways to enhance your telepathic abilities, then be open to learning about them. When you find yourself in the wrong, accept it. Be open to criticism about yourself and correct your own judgments”, she says.

    11. Telepathy in love will make you more empathetic

She adds further, “To find out the signs someone is sending you love energy, look at yourself and notice if you are learning to be more empathetic and compassionate. You will find yourself becoming more open and receptive to what they have to say and how they feel.
