    I know we’re all at our limit with tech ventures that the financial powerhouses of the world rapidly rally around as more foundational and beneficial resources to civilization wane. I know we don’t have enough ear space to fill with all the promises of utopian computer advancements that in practice require comical amounts of human intervention. That after all of the crypto, NFTs, AI, video pivots and pets.com collapses, the last thing we need is more gambling on speculative futurist nonsense. But hear me out: what if we fucked with the moon?

    This week, Deutsche Bank said they are fixing their attention to the “moon economy.” Earth’s lonely little celestial satellite, greeting us each night, shifting the tides and summoning werewolves. Though the grand prize of the 1960s space race, it hasn’t really taken center stage in the human imagination for generations. While we love our big floating space rock, it doesn’t have the potential or allure of Mars, our nearest understudy. The richest among us have begun to feel otherwise.

    Deutsche Bank’s focus is on Intuitive Machines, a Houston-based company developing tech for lunar exploration. They’re primed for the windfall of any moon-bound interest, and Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu says the moon economy “may have just gone through a key inflection point.” Which is to say we’re gearing up for a nitwit-off.

    Through 2025, the White House stated a renewed interest in moon missions. As part of the Artemis program, the U.S.A. is looking to beat China to the moon for military infrastructure and spycraft securities. That space race has kicked off a second, simultaneous one amongst billionaires. Jeff Bezos announced that Blue Origin is aiming to develop lunar landers for the program. It plays into the tension between NASA and SpaceX, whose progress on their contract has been sluggish.

    Incapable of sitting still, Elon Musk, who previously wrote off the moon as “a distraction,” said he is shifting SpaceX’s focus toward building a “self-growing city” there. It’s a screeching pivot for SpaceX, a company whose sole mission is colonizing Mars. “We can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years,” Musk posted.

    Obviously government contracts are a financial boon in and of themselves. Much of Musk’s fortune comes from federal arrangements. But what’s the long-term economic benefit of chilling on the moon? Never mind establishing the first space city? As far as space campaigns go, it’s much easier to launch off a low-gravity body than fighting to escape Earth’s orbit and barrier of space junk (though new complications will surely emerge). You probably wouldn’t be surprised to hear this moon situation links up with the current AI situation.

    You’ve probably noticed AI, for all of its promises, is incredibly expensive. Consumer technology is in disarray as firms get first dibs on microchips. Data center construction is the toothpick holding up the American economy. The use of electricity and water cooling is exhaustive to local infrastructure. To set up camp on the moon would solve… some of that. If you think that sounds risky and untested, you’re correct. Just like current AI ventures, a loose promise is enough to bet the house on.

    The original space race ended on a win, something our current futurists are desperate to secure. It came through sweatbox collaborations between technicians, physicists and experts across all disciplines. It was to prove the capitalist west was greater than the USSR and develop some new rockets along the way, but still required putting that glory before short-term gains. The theme of the last decade has been “why we can’t have nice things.” There are strong use cases for the blockchain, language learning models and moon bases alike. But instead of researching and refining how this tech can secure a better future for all, we’re subjected to useless tchotchkes at the cost of breathable air. Our survival into this century is increasingly beholden to refried futurists, addicted to singular persuasive visions that don’t behave well with reality.

    Sundays are for lying in bed and listening to the persistent rain beating at the skylight. It’s a comforting sound but one that’s become all too familiar in this seemingly endless winter. This week has at least brought murmurs of sunlight in the mornings, but for now they’re often drowned out by the tap tap tap of rain.

    While the sound of the rain is exhausting its welcome, the urge to stay in a cosy bed and pooh-pooh the outside remains very welcome. For now, I will put the thought that I need to go to the shops and pick up food for the week into a shoebox and hide it away under the bed, next to the lost socks and sleeping spiders.

  • Silent Hill 2 Remake Developer Bloober Team Announces Layers of Fear 3 – IGN

    Bloober Team has revealed the video game it teased last month as Layers of Fear 3.

    In a video presentation celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Layers of Fear franchise, CEO Piotr Babieno thanked fans for keeping the series “close to your hearts for all these years,” before setting up the final reveal: Layers of Fear 3.

    Layers of Fear is a psychological horror series that has seen three main releases so far: 2016’s Layers of Fear; 2021’s Layers of Fear 2; and a remake released in 2023.

    Layers of Fear 3 doesn’t have a launch window or confirmed platforms, but Bloober Team did release a creepy live action teaser, which features a man reading William Blake’s The Sick Rose in a grand room. We see a painting of a woman, presumably the “sick rose,” and another painting of what looks like a humanoid figure, potentially the same woman, amid a sickness with their mouth sewn shut. A ghostly figure moves past this painting before the painting of the woman falls to the ground. The man waves this away as being the responsibility of his “little friend” who “tries to help” but hasn’t quite got the hang of the afterlife. The teaser ends with the man issuing a Valentine’s Day warning to the audience before turning over a sand timer. The Layers of Fear 3 tagline reads: “Some Things Never Leave The Walls. They Only Learn To Wait.”

    That’s pretty much all we have for now on Layers of Fear 3, which sits alongside the Silent Hill remake Bloober Team also has in the works. There’s also a number of smaller games from its subsidiary, Broken Mirror Games, which include a mysterious Switch exclusive codenamed Project M. This all follows what has been a high-profile period for the Polish studio, which has enjoyed success with the Silent Hill 2 remake for Konami, as well as self-published releases including Cronos: The New Dawn and The Medium.

    Larian recently streamed Divinity: Original Sin 2, the studio’s last RPG in the Divinity series before it made Baldur’s Gate 3. During the stream, communications developer Aoife Wilson brought up the topic of hints in D:OS2 about what Larian was working on next.

    “Originally the reference to BG3 was very explicit,” Larian CEO Swen Vincke explained while plotting out his next move in the famously flammable oil fields of the Blackpits area. “We did it very last-minute because we actually, in the summer when D:OS2 shipped, we wrote the first draft of BG3 because we had a contract with Wizards of the Coast and we needed to do it then. It was very bad.”

  • Lego Batman Slashes RAM Requirements On PC As Prices Spike

    PC gamers were left scratching their heads when Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight revealed its surprisingly beefy spec requirements last month. The recommended rig to play the open-world action game would need a whopping 32GB of RAM. No longer. The action-adventure’s developers have now slashed that requirement in half as the great AI-fueled RAM shortage of 2026 intensifies.

    The Lego Batman specs were a shock when they were first spotted on January 17. They were immediately compared to the specs for the last Lego game, 2022’s Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which had a recommendation of just 8GB of RAM. That number had been multiplied four times for TT Games’s newest Lego anthology in as many years. It was immediately accused of being the latest example of PC games coming in hot and under-optimized.

    The studio responded at the time by saying that Lego Batman was still being optimized but something had to be submitted on the spec sheet to get a Steam listing published so the game could start collecting pre-orders and wishlists. It turns out TT Games was being conservative and significant improvements have been made. No one’s going to have to go out and buy another 16GB stick just to run around Lego Gotham when the game launches on May 29.

    “As part of our ongoing testing for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC, we have revised our recommended hardware specifications from 32 GB RAM down to 16 GB RAM,” reads a new update on February 13. “Please note, our PC specs at this stage are not final. We will be continuing to optimize and make improvements as we move closer to launch. For more information, visit our product page on Steam.”

    RAM shortage fuels spec retreat

    Lego Batman isn’t the first game to go on this recommended PC spec rollercoaster ride. IO Interactive’s 007: First Light, out just days before on May 27, also walked back a pretty unforgiving initial spec sheet earlier this year. That game also recommended 32GB at first before later dropping the requirement to 16GB. Its VRAM requirement dropped as well. IO Interactive blamed the whole thing on a miscommunication.

    To put this all in perspective, say you were someone planning on playing one or both of these games on PC. Your rig only has 16GB of memory right now, so you’d have originally needed to upgrade. If you’d done that last fall, the popular Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory would have only cost you $80. Now it’s being sold for double that at $160, at least when it’s available to buy at all.

    These AI-fueled price hikes don’t seem to be turning around anytime soon. Valve already blamed these spikes for why the Steam Machine’s pricing hasn’t been revealed yet and why it’s now expected to ship later in the first half of 2026 than previously planned. Lego Batman wasn’t the first to budge on its spec requirements, and it definitely won’t be the last PC game this year to blink, either.

    The second series of Amazon’s Fallout adaptation has now fully emerged from the vault, its eight episodes having been plinked out gradually, rather than whipped out in one fell swoop. Naturally, one of us has taken in the show how its distributors intended, injecting a stimpak a week in calm and measured fashion. The other waited until all the episodes were out, and then injected them all at once like an unhinged adventurer blowing through half their chem stash in a mid-fight panic.     During the day, take care of the gas station as an ordinary employee. Restock the shelves, order wares for the shop, refuel passersby, and exchange goods for cash. At night you will be able to gather your thoughts, and plan for the next day.

    Upgrade and Customize

    Balance between two missions, upgrading the gas station to attract more customers and upgrading your alien tech to process data and gather information more efficiently. To blend in, draw a very normal human expression on your state-of-the-art disguise.

    During closing hours, you can also upgrade the station, inside and outside to make sure everything is going according to plan.

  • What are we all playing this weekend?

    I thought I would make it all the way through winter without getting ill. We’re practically touching March. Yet, despite being within spitting distance of the clocks changing and bright evenings returning, I have the lurgy. This weekend, I will practice the art of the double duvet sausage roll.

    I would hope we’re all familiar with rolling over and over in a duvet until we’re wrapped up in its insulating down, for all outward appearance becoming a blanket sausage roll. Of course, to the true artist there’s more to it. You’re not really looking for a sausage roll effect, that would mean your feet are exposed to the elements. That wouldn’t do. You must tuck a bit of blanket between your feet so that when you roll, the end of the duvet becomes a tight little hat for your toe hands.

    Toe hands? I think the virus has got to my word store. I best let the team take it from here.

    Against the odds, my group has returned to Overwatch. Which is now Overwatch again, rather than Overwatch 2. We had a look at the Stadium Mode for the first time last night, and it’s rather overwhelming, but it reminded me how good a game Overwatch still is. We always end up giving it up after a while though, because we’re just a group of 3, and it becomes too frustrating to be let down constantly by random teammates playing their own game. Maybe this time will be different. Or maybe we just need to find more friends. Or perfect the cloning process.

    God help me, I’ve started playing Dota 2 again. Only against bots for now, but I’m already finding them too easy to roll over, so I might have to hurl myself off that cliff and into the raging sea of unranked All Pick. Has my constitution remained strong enough after my time away? Can I learn all the updated ward spots? Do I understand enough Russian swear words? I just don’t know.

    I’ve managed a few runs through Mewgenics‘ alley and sewers so far, so my churning army of feline friends will likely face more this weekend. Despite generally being a bit crap at turn-based combat, I’m faring surprisingly well so far, which is probably a sign that I’m about to hit a boss I’ll end up stuck on for a month solid.

    Valentine’s Day weekend, you say? NOPE! IT’S REANIMAL WEEKEND! While you’re all out there appreciating your partners, eating heart-shaped pistachio chocolates and holding hands over romantic candle-lit dinners, I’ll be running away from a mutated lamb titan with human limbs sprouting from its spine. Yes, this is definitely by choice. No, we won’t consider that I’d maybe have plans for Valentine’s Day if I didn’t keep talking about mutated lamb titans with human limbs sprouting from their spines.

    If I break out of the swaddling embrace of this duvet I want to play some XCOM 2. I’ve a hankering to kick some alien invaders out of our solar system. I could do that in Terra Invicta, but the slow build of that grand strategy’s ramp up is putting me off playing. If I have an hour to play something, I want it to feel like I can do something meaningful. It’s also why I’ve been playing quite a bit of Ball x Pit lately.

  • Capcom Restores Free Viewing Option For Street Fighter World Championship After Backlash

    Capcom has announced that its plan for the Capcom Cup finals and Street Fighter League World Championship as a $40 pay-per-view have been reworked to include a cheaper price and a free viewing option following a backlash from Street Fighter 6 fans.

    Prior to this year, the Capcom Cup finals and Street Fighter League World Championship were free-to-watch events. However, Capcom’s decision to move the event to pay-per-view only triggered an angry response from fans. In the face of that response, Capcom backed down.

    Capcom’s eSports business department manager Tetsuya Tabuchi made the announcement on X (via GamesRadar) that the pay-per-view price is now $10. Players who own Street Fighter 6 will also be able to stream the Capcom Cup finals and Street Fighter League World Championship in-game. But the free option won’t include the commentary from the pay-per-view.

I know it doesn’t sound like the usual high-stakes affair that’s suitable for Warriors of Light, but don’t judge the sidequest too hastily. As long as you don’t complete the challenge alone, it rules.

  • Reanimal Review – IGN

    It begins with a group of children looking down a hole. A boy in a hood, the remains of a hangman’s noose around his neck, pilots a boat adrift at sea. I do not know where he has come from or where he is going or if he was one of the ones staring into that well’s abyss. I only know the way forward. Red lights peak through the dark and fog. They are my compass, and I follow them. Buoys. Where they guide me, I do not know, but there is no other path. The ocean is so vast, and my boat is so small. For a time, I am alone. At the fourth buoy, the boy stops the boat and pulls aboard a girl. When he reaches for the hare mask covering her face, she pins him to the small outboard’s wooden bottom, her hands ripping at his mask until he kicks her away. They stare at each other from opposite ends of the boat. It might as well be a chasm. “I thought you were dead,” the boy offers. “Where are the others?” the girl asks. The boy doesn’t know. She takes a lantern and stands at our boat’s bow. The buoys are still our guide, but the girl lights the way forward.

    By the time I reach the end of Reanimal, the latest horror puzzle platformer from Little Nightmares developer Tarsier, I have forgotten all of this, and lost track of what parts of this opening are most important. I am too busy trying to make meaning from what I have seen, too focused on trying to connect the pieces of Reanimal’s puzzle, to understand how we got here. But stories, at least the good ones, the ones that know what they’re doing, tell you what they’re about from the beginning. And Reanimal is a very good story. Remember this, it tells you. Remember all of this.

    Together – I play the boy, my co-op partner plays the girl. There is no way to select who plays who; it simply works out this way – we sail through jagged cliffs, past mines larger than our boat, bisect a forest of jagged, barren trees. Then the banks of the river we have followed fade, and a large industrial building looms out of the fog ahead of us. It is a remarkable image in a game of remarkable images. Reanimal certainly knows how to set a scene.

    There is very little overt explanation.The boy and the girl are brother and sister, but this fact is never told to you. You learn it through the way they help each other up, comfort each other when things go wrong. Their relationship is something you experience, the questions largely left for you to answer. Why does she attack him after he fishes her out of the sea? What happened to them before they were in the boat? Reanimal unspools its story slowly, and asks you to fill in the gaps yourself. To remember what you’ve seen, to put together the imagery, the symbols, notice patterns in the shapes throughout its world. I’m unsure of what they’re after until we find another child separated from us by steel bars blocking a drain pipe. “You came back,” he whispers. “I knew you would. You should leave… while you still can.” But we don’t. The girl’s earlier question is the answer to mine. We are here to save the others. Our friends.

    Reanimal can be played alone, but it’s more meaningful to take the journey with someone else.

    We navigate broken buildings, push through dark forests, leap across gaps, crouch into places only a child can fit. Often, we need to work together. The world is so big, and we are so small. It takes two of us to lift a metal trapdoor. I hold a lever to still a rotating metal shaft so my partner can pilot the girl across. On the other side, she knocks down a piece of wood so I can cross a gap. Reanimal is simple, elegant. You walk, run, jump, interact with and carry objects, boost one another to ledges neither of you can reach alone, and occasionally fight off foes in the clumsy way a child might. Little distinguishes the boy from the girl, save that she can attach her lantern to her hip while carrying something else. The boy’s lighter, on the other hand, is only usable if his hands are free. It’s a subtle distinction, but an important one, and my partner and I often made significant choices about who would do what based on how much light it would cost us, and whether we felt we could sacrifice it.

    Reanimal can be played alone, but I found it more meaningful to take the journey with someone else, to coordinate and work together, to congratulate ourselves on our success and discuss our failures before trying again. Like the boy and the girl on screen, we are experiencing this together. Like them, we are not alone. That subtle distinction – of working with a living, breathing person – made it much better than it would have been had I spent the whole experience with a computer-controlled girl who always did exactly what she was supposed to. That’s not what this story is about, and I am deeply grateful that, in an era which has largely abandoned local co-op, Reanimal offers it.

    Both Reanimal’s gameplay and the choices it offers are satisfying, but simple. It is less a game you play and more a world you move through and experience without the obvious artifice of a video game. There is no HUD, no meters, no minimap. The camera is often fixed to show you exactly what Tasier wants you to see, and the sense of visual composition here is remarkable. Even horror can be beautiful when framed the right way. Often, the answers to the gameplay questions Reanimal presents are obvious – though not less satisfying for it – and the only way forward, though occasionally we get lost. What carries us ahead are not the puzzles themselves, but the desire to see what’s next. If you are expecting great leaps from the studio’s work on the first two Little Nightmares, you will not find it here, and I’m not bothered by that. You don’t return to your favorite restaurant angry the menu hasn’t changed, and here the chef is a master of his craft.

    The environment is not our only obstacle. We start to notice the horrors as we search for the missing wheels to a handcar. A body leans against a wall, its belly a gaping hole left by something that forced its way out – or in. A plunger applied to a clogged toilet reveals a key and the deformed, deflated skin of what was once, perhaps, a man; his features are off, deformed, his face caught between that of a person and a pig.

    What we’re up against isn’t obvious until we come across the second of the wheels we need for the handcart, and the man/animal skins around us come to life, slithering after us like snakes. We do the only thing we can do: we run. It gets worse from there; the first living human we encounter is impossibly tall, his face a Halloween mask of sagging skin, empty eye sockets, a maw that is always open. He skitters after us like a spider, biting our heads off if he catches us. He is not the worst of it; not even close. We spend most of Reanimal running from something. I don’t want to say more. These are terrors you really should see for yourself.

    But I can say this: the place the boy and girl have returned to is wrong. There is a theory that hell is the worst moments of your life, replayed over and over again, without ceasing, simultaneously something you recognize and fresh at the same time. What does it say that the boy and girl have seemingly returned here by choice after having escaped? “I told you to leave,” the boy we encountered tells us later. Or are they all trapped here, together, in a hell we can’t leave? Only one thing is certain: we are off the edge of the map. Here be dragons.

    As we continue, the world opens up to us. We navigate dark forests, the flooded ruins of cities, active warzones, and until the end, whatever shattered this place is only partially clear. Our journey is only partially linear. Returning to the boat allows us to explore, to explore this flooded place and find what lies off the beaten path. It is here that Reanimal is most obviously a video game, rewarding the curious with new masks, collectible concept art, and so on, but it never feels out of place or forced, and doesn’t detract from the atmosphere. Nor does the occasional replay of a chase sequence because you don’t initially know what to do or where to go, which is enough to spell your end. Reanimal’s atmosphere, its art, its sense of place and character and mystery carry the day at every turn, through the odd confusion, annoyance, or visual bug. It compelled us to see it through to the end, to understand the tale it was trying to tell in its roughly six-hour journey through hell. I think I understand. But I know there is much we missed, and I want to return to see it through, and see what, if anything, changes as a result.

  • High On Life 2 Guide: 13 Tips To Know Before Playing

    High on Life 2 is here on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and it’s even wackier, weirder, and bigger than the original game. While not every part of this new sci-fi comedy FPS works, there’s still a lot of fun to be had in the sequel, featuring new talking guns and larger worlds to explore. To help you out on your journey to save humanity (again), we’ve put together a list of 13 tips that you should know before hopping into High on Life 2. 

    Talk to people!

    High on Life 2 is at its best when it isn’t forcing you to fight dozens of aliens with living guns. Where this sequel excels is when it’s telling jokes, and a lot of the best ones can only be found by talking to NPCs. And you should keep talking to NPCs, as most of them will have many bits of dialogue and jokes. Likewise, if the game lets you do something over and over again, like kiss someone at a kissing booth, it’s usually a good idea to do it a few times and see if the NPCs react differently. They often do, and it can lead to some wild moments.

    Sit down when watching TV or movies

    There are multiple full-length movies in High on Life 2 that you can watch in a few places, including on Gene’s TV in the main hub area of the game. But if you stand there and watch these movies, the background music and audio of the game will still be heard. So sit down, which is often an option near the screen, and you’ll get a better view and won’t be distracted by all the noise.

    When told to explore the city, do it

    At certain points in High on Life 2, characters will tell you to go check out the city and explore while they get your next missions ready. And you should do this! Exploring the large multi-area world of Circuit Arcadia will often reveal new NPCs to joke around with, but more importantly, there are plenty of hidden puzzles to solve to unlock more currency, rare upgrades, and new cosmetics for your talking gun pals.

    Buy upgrades at your home base

    Speaking of upgrades, pretty early on in High on Life 2 you’ll gain access to a shop inside your main HQ. Stop by here regularly to buy upgrades for your guns to make them more powerful and useful. And don’t worry about spending too much money, as Gene will give you more cash if you need it for a specific upgrade that is required for progressing forward.

    Use your Gatlian special abilities often

    It is very easy to forget that all of your talking guns in High on Life 2 have special, secondary abilities. But don’t do that. Instead use them, and use them a lot. In particular, Sweezy’s ability to stop time in a specific area is very powerful and works on some bosses. I also think Gus’ magma disc is very powerful against tougher enemies. The point is, use these abilities often. And to help with that…

    Drink lots of Bounty Hunter energy drink

    Dotted around nearly every level of High on Life 2 are vending machines that spit out cans of energy drink. These are useful as you can pop one open by hitting the special ability button (RB on Xbox) and refill your gun’s special meter instantly. This lets you pop their secondary actions far more often during combat. And don’t worry, there are so many vending machines around, you can drink up as much as you want.

    Use takedowns to avoid damage

    Short but useful tip: When you do a takedown on an enemy using Knifey, you are momentarily invulnerable. This is useful during big fights to give you breathing room or avoid taking damage from a boss while murdering a minion.

    Don’t play on story mode difficulty

    High on Life 2 offers a few different difficulty modes, and while the game doesn’t punish you for choosing the easiest option, “Story Mode,” I’d advise against it as High on Life 2 isn’t a very hard game, even on its harder settings. The Story Mode is far too easy and boring. Stick to Easy or Normal.

    Use your radar to track down remaining enemies

    If an objective mentions killing all the enemies in an area and you can’t find the last one, check your in-game radar for a red blip. Very handy. Bonus tip: The radar will also show you where hidden caches are that can be broken up for extra money.

    Don’t forget about Jeppy

    I won’t spoil who Jeppy is, but eventually you unlock this odd alien sidekick who can only say his name. He functions as a sort of ultimate ability for your character. And I recommend popping him out once his meter is full, as he can clear out weaker enemies and put the hurting on bigger foes.

    Shoot your sister when you first see her at the zoo

    I know you don’t want to, but you should do it. Trust me.

    Maybe wait a month or two before hopping in…

    Perhaps the most important tip of all. If you’re reading this just a few days or weeks after High on Life 2‘s February 13 release, then I’d advise holding off on playing it. The game is currently filled with all sorts of bugs and issues. Some of these have been fixed via a day-one patch, but I’d still suggest waiting a little bit, playing something else, and then coming back to a game that is hopefully in better shape.

  • Magic Market Watch: Lorwyn Eclipsed Has Caused Elemental Cards to Rapidly Spike in Value – IGN

    Magic: The Gathering launched its first set of 2026, Lorwyn Eclipsed, and early signs are it’s a great return to in-universe cards.

    As we do regularly, we’re looking at how the latest set has affected pricing across the cardboard game we love so much, leaning on data from our friends at TCGplayer. Spoiler alert: Black and Blue cards are in vogue this season, it seems.

    Climbers

    Kicking off with an Elemental that makes for a nifty inclusion for upgrading the Dance of the Elementals precon, Sunderflock is a nine-cost card that gets cheaper the more Elementals you have in play.

    It also puts non-Elementals back in their owners’ hands, and is a 5/5 with Flying for good measure. It’s selling for around $10, having gone for (according to TCGplayer data) a single cent in recent months.

    Eddymurk Crab

    Eddymurk Crab

    Next up, Eddymurk Crab. Another Elemental (Crab), this one has Flash and costs less to cast for instants and sorceries in your graveyard. It also taps target creatures and is a 5/5 in its own right. It’s sitting at under a dollar right now, but has spiked from being worth next to nothing not long ago.

    Doomsday Excruciator

    Doomsday Excruciator

    Moving from Blue to Black, and Elementals to something a little more demonic, Doomsday Excruciator is a card that’s “spiked” to around two dollars. Not a lot, sure, but this six-cost, 6/6 with Flying was half of that last week. It exiles all but six of everyone’s cards, and dares you to finish a match more quickly by giving you an extra draw.

    Insatiable Avarice

    Insatiable Avarice

    Pairing nicely with that is Insatiable Avarice, which forces a player to lose life and draw three cards. This one is up to around $15 at the time of writing, but was $2 just a couple of weeks ago.

    Harvester of Misery

    Harvester of Misery

    Harvester of Misery jumped from $3 to around $18 (with some sellers shipping it for much more). This 5/4 with Menace dishes out -2/-2 to other creatures, and that might be enough to trigger a big with the Blight Curse precon.

    Crashers

    Now that Lorwyn has been released, we’ve got a few Crashers from the latest set that are worth a pickup.

    Hexing Squelcher

    Hexing Squelcher

    Everyone went mad for Hexing Squelcher, with the Goblin Sorcerer preventing counters and dishing out Ward. It’s not around $18, down from $50 before launch.

    Spinerock Tyrant

    Spinerock Tyrant

    Another big drop is the 6/6 dragon, Spinerock Tyrant. It deals damage as -1/-1 (making it a Blighter’s dream), and doubles up spells. Now, it’s under $3, having been close to $30 at pre-launch prices.

    Curious Colossus

    Curious Colossus

    Sticking with big numbers, Curious Colossus is a 7/7 that makes everyone else’s creature a 1/1. If you can pair that with a Massacre Wurm or something similar, you can board wipe an entire table in the late game. It’s now under $3.

    Ashling, Rekindled

    Ashling, Rekindled

    Finally, Ashling, Rekindled is a 1/3 that transforms into Ashling, Rimebound to generate more mana. It’s a cheap card in terms of mana cost, but it’s now just $2 – down from $15.

    We’re thrilled to have two actors who have both portrayed Kratos in the Greek saga reprise their roles for this game. TC Carson returns as the adult version of Kratos who serves as our story’s narrator, while Antony Del Rio portrays the younger version of Kratos, which he also did in God of War: Ghost of Sparta back in 2010! 

    We’re also excited to have newcomers join the series, including Scott Menville, as the voice of our young Deimos.

    A Spartan’s first weapons

    Kratos’ spear and shield can each be enhanced and adapted using different attachments. Each attachment comes with its own upgrade path, so you can tailor your build to empower whichever playstyle you enjoy.  

    Kratos also has access to three primary skill trees where he can learn new abilities to improve his offensive, defensive, and movement kits. 

    Gifts of Olympus 

    Throughout his adventures in Laconia, Kratos will acquire Gifts of Olympus, divine artifacts that can turn the tide in combat through their special and super attacks.

    Some of the Gifts excel in ranged combat – striking with precision from afar or launching an exploding projectile to hit multiple creatures. Others come with their own devastating melee combo to supplement Kratos’ spear attacks. 

    Myths and legends

    Sons of Sparta features the return of many iconic creatures from the Greek saga, including hulking minotaurs, nimble satyrs, and undead legionnaires. We worked closely with the team at Mega Cat Studios to faithfully translate the original animations to their 2D representations in-game. 

    On top of the classics, MCS has also brought in many new creatures from Greek mythology didn’t have the chance to explore in the originals.

    Stunning high-definition pixel art environments will take you on a journey through a variety of locations that bring Kratos’ homeland to life with incredible detail. 

    As you progress through the main story, you’ll find that Laconia is also full of content that rewards exploration – optional quests, hidden encounters, and loot await!

  • CoD: Black Ops 7 And Warzone Patch Notes Detail Weapon And Attachment Changes

    A new update has arrived to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone on February 13, and the patch notes detail weapon balancing across both games. These weapon adjustments include changes to sniper rifles and light machine guns, as well as tuning of specific gun attachments.

    Season 2 went live in Call of Duty on February 5, but the patch notes didn’t include the usual weapon balancing pass typically found in seasonal updates. Instead, Treyarch saved the gun changes for this new update, which focuses on various guns and attachments.

    For Black Ops 7’s multiplayer and Zombies, the update includes a notable buff for the DS20 Mirage assault rifle. This increases the damage range for the gun, and it also makes improvements to the weapon’s 17.1″ Abdicator Barrel attachment, allowing for less recoil penalty when it’s equipped.
