  • Jeffrey Epstein Sent Five Nights At Freddy’s Porn Via 4Chan Links, Emails Show

    Early today, the Department of Justice released more than three million pages of files connected to convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. And as people have started digging into all the new emails and documents, we are learning a lot more about Epstein and his elite inner circle. Oh, and apparently, he would sometimes send people links to porn featuring characters from Five Nights at Freddy’s.

    On May 4, 2017, Epstein sent a message to Karyna Shuliak, his last known girlfriend, that simply contained a link to an animated gif uploaded to 4chan that featured multiple characters from FNAF engaging in sexual activities. The animation was apparently made in Source Filmmaker and was shared on 4chan in April 2017. Epstein simply commented “amazing animations” in the subject line of the email.

    This 2017 email, as well as others from the Epstein files purporting to show him sending FNAF porn he found online to Shuliak, spread across social media as part of a collage image. Many assumed it was a joke. But Kotaku and others online have been able to verify that the 2017 email did include a link to this NSFW 4chan gif post.

    Discovering that Epstein looked at and shared porn based on the horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s is far from the worst piece of information to come out of the Epstein emails. But it is a strange piece of information I didn’t know before, and now I do. I can’t stop thinking about him writing “amazing animations” in the subject line as he emailed the link to his girlfriend. We live in a weird, horrible timeline, huh?

    In other Epstein video game news (because yes, there is more), he was banned from Xbox Live in 2013 after Microsoft figured out he was a registered sex offender.

  • Highguard Patch Gives Players What They Really Wanted From The Start

    Highguard players have shared their desire for expanded match-ups, and the game’s developer, Wildlight, has listened. Starting today and going through the weekend, Highguard is introducing an “experimental” five-on-five Raid playlist. This isn’t meant as a replacement for the game’s three-on-three Raids, but it could potentially become a full-time part of the game.

    Per Wildlight’s announcement, the 5v5 Raids will have 10 lives to players instead of the standard six. It will also take slightly longer to respawn during raids in order to allow more time for generator bombs to be planted or defused. Wildlight cautions players that while the current patch has some optimization improvements, 5v5 Raids aren’t going to have improved performance.

    The dev team also notes that Firing Range doesn’t support 5v5 yet, which is why the Play button will be grayed out when parties are over three.

    Life in Routine Village is peaceful, but it doesn’t take long for things to take a dark turn with the arrival of the evil wizard Double G.

    Your journey will take you through several freely explorable open worlds, each with its own distinct theme. You’ll need to overcome the challenges and minigames, and to progress in the adventure, you’ll also need to battle Double G’s minions, the Kobi, defeat Mr. Egg and Big Rock, eventually reaching the depths to face Double G himself. Read on to discover some of the best ways to explore, vanquish enemies and save the world.

    Exploring the planetoids and uncovering their secrets is a big part of the fun. Thanks to the smooth gravity shifts that keep you glued to the ground, you can walk across their entire surface. If you see the horizon getting close, don’t worry, just keep moving and you’ll discover you can loop around to the other side, uncover hidden areas beneath the surface, or even drop through a hole into the planet’s inner layer.

    There’s only one exception: those ultra-flat platforms have gravity fixed in a single direction, tied to their specific zone. So don’t try to stand on them upside down or you’ll fall into nothingness… or lava… or water… either way you end up respawning at the last checkpoint.    

    To save your impatient pals, you’ll need to overcome a wide variety of challenges and games. Here are a few hints of the ones you’ll have to discover: find the toy plane so a Kobi will agree to race you, convince a pterodactyl to carry you to a distant planetoid, chase and catch slippery critters, take on combat arenas, ground-pound buttons to flush out hidden Kobi, roll a massive ball of bones without falling into the void, and for those giant balls… find a proper goal.

    Oh, and will you manage to find the T-Rex? At first, it may seem a bit aggressive, but that’s only because you wandered into its lair unannounced. Soon enough, it’ll become a loyal friend, letting you ride on its back to reach places that would otherwise be impossible.

    As for enemies, don’t let them pile up. They may be small, but they pack a punch. If you keep them under control, you can definitely defeat them. Knock out the Kobi by hitting them or jumping on their heads. The karate dinos are easy to beat but very fast, so take them out quickly. If carnivorous plants give you trouble, try attacking them from behind. Snakes are sneaky, dodge their strike and hit back right after. And when it comes to skeletons, a solid ground pound will keep them from getting back up.

    If, when you start playing, you notice small white items floating around that don’t seem to do anything yet, don’t panic, they’re power-ups you’ll unlock later on. You’ll earn the anti-gravity feathers by defeating Mr. Egg, and these will allow you to jump higher and fall more slowly, making longer jumps possible and letting you escape the planet’s gravity at certain locations. The rock helmet, unlocked after beating Big Rock, adds weight so you can sink in water and grants damage resistance, enough to walk across lava. Finally, by defeating Double G, you’ll obtain the flaming club, which lets you shoot fireballs and access green fire areas.

    All of this can also be enjoyed in co-op mode with a second player. Invite a friend, sibling, parent, child, grandparent, cousin, anyone you like! They can jump into the game at any time.

    This co-op mode doesn’t use a split-screen setup to allow both players to work together toward the same goal without losing track of each other during exploration. And if the second player strays too far or gets a bit lost, the teleport function is always there to help.

  • Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney voices support for $900 million Steam lawsuit: ‘Valve is the only major store still holding onto the payments tie and 30% junk fee’

    Unsurprisingly, Epic Games CEO and frequent X poster Tim Sweeney has thoughts about the $900 million lawsuit against Valve in the UK, which recently got the go-ahead from a competition tribunal. Also unsurprisingly, given his competing store and past criticism of Steam, Sweeney approves of the action, and based on his related legal tussles with Apple and Google, thinks there’s something to it.

    The lawsuit, filed in 2024, very broadly alleges that Valve unfairly prevents game makers from offering their products at lower prices on other platforms and requires that all add-on content for games purchased on Steam also be purchased through Steam, and that Valve’s “excessive commission” has resulted in inflated prices for UK consumers. Valve had argued that the suit should not be allowed to proceed as a collective action—functionally similar to a class action—but a Competition Appeal Tribunal disagreed, ruling earlier this week that the suit can proceed.

  • Why WWE 2K26 is the Right Time to Bring CM Punk’s Story Back to WWE Video Games – Xbox Wire

    CM Punk is no stranger to the cover. He first graced it in WWE ’13, marking the start of a new era for the franchise. Shortly after WWE ’13 launched, Punk stepped away from WWE, but 2K continued building and evolving the WWE 2K series in the years that followed.

    When Punk made his long-awaited return to WWE in late 2023, our team immediately began exploring how to welcome him back into the game. That moment came with his return to the roster in WWE 2K24 through the ECW Punk Pack. From there, the focus shifted to something bigger as we looked for the right moment to meaningfully celebrate Punk’s legacy, impact, and industry-changing voice within WWE 2K.

    That moment arrived in April 2025, when CM Punk headlined WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. For us, it was clear. WWE 2K26 was the right stage to bring Punk back to the forefront and honor his journey as only WWE 2K could.

    Building the Themes For The Best in The World

    CM Punk is known for his rebellious, anti-authoritarian demeanor, never shying away from speaking his mind or doing whatever he wants, such as his infamous “Pipe Bomb” promo when he broke the fourth wall and shared his unfiltered thoughts to the world on Raw. His no-nonsense approach endears him to the WWE fans, but not necessarily within the establishment of WWE; once leaving Money in the Bank with the WWE title held hostage, his contract having expired that same night after defeating John Cena.

    We wanted to play within these themes in WWE 2K26 this year starting with the era that owned the term “anti-establishment”, The Attitude Era. It was an era that took shape out of necessity during the Monday Night War at the turn of the millennium while rival company WCW was on a 52-week streak of winning the TV ratings, riding the wave of popularity from the nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash) and rising stars like Goldberg and Booker T.

    WWE finally began turning the tide with the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker, Kane, and Triple H to name a few, to eventually break that streak and turn Monday nights into must-see TV.

    Beyond the themes of rebellion and anti-establishmentarianism, we still wanted a more direct link between CM Punk and this era of WWE. This is when we approached WWE with the idea of the WWE 2K26 King of Kings Edition, with Triple H on the cover. Triple H is the perfect bridge, as a staple of the Monday Night War and Attitude Era, as a founding member with Shawn Michaels and Chyna, and then redefining the group as leader of D-Generation X with the addition of the New Age Outlaws and X-Pac, together invading WCW on live TV and then later in his career feuding with CM Punk during Punk’s initial run in WWE before Triple H played an important role in bringing Punk back to WWE in 2023.

    Bringing CM Punk’s Story To Life

    WWE 2K26 brings the themes of CM Punk’s career, nods to WWE history, and the Monday Night War era to the game.

    2K Showcase for WWE 2K26 is another captivatingly curated list of matches from CM Punk’s career, brought to you by CM Punk, who worked with Visual Concepts to bring his story to life for this mode, similar to John Cena for his WWE 2K23 Showcase. This Best in the World 2K Showcase traces Punk’s story across multiple decades, reliving his rise, rebellion, and return. Players can experience iconic rivalries and explore fantasy scenarios that imagine a world where Punk never left WWE or if he faced his heroes from the Attitude Era.

    Bringing The Attitude to Our Gameplay Updates

    The Attitude Era also comes to life in our gameplay dates for WWE 2K26 with the inclusion of extreme match types such as the Inferno Match made famous between Undertaker and Kane’s notorious storyline, the Dumpster match, 3 Stages of Hell and the I Quit match. New weapons including thumbtacks and the ability to stack tables will enable players to heighten the stakes of the mayhem they create in WWE 2K26.

    WWE 2K26 will release with four different editions – Standard Edition with CM Punk as the cover star, the King of Kings Edition featuring Triple H on the cover, the Attitude Era Edition paying homage to multiple WWE stars of that era, and The Monday Night War Edition.

    The Monday Night War Edition is the most premium offering for a WWE 2K title to date, including all the content included in the Attitude Era Edition as well as the Monday Night War Edition Pack and WrestleMania 42 Pack.

    WWE 2K26 is coming to Xbox Series X|S on March 13, 2026. The Monday Night War and Attitude Era Editions include 7-day early access, starting March 6.

    The cast of People of Note, our upcoming musical turn-based RPG, just got bigger!

    Today, we’re happy to announce the rest of the cast joining our pop diva protagonist on her grand adventure into stardom.

    To celebrate this announcement, we’re unveiling the next musical number from the game: Mashup, where Cadence tries recruiting old garage rocker Fret into her band:

    As you can hear, People of Note’s cast includes not only massively talented voice actors, but an equally dazzling lineup of singers and musicians! As not every voice actor is a singer (and vice versa) there were moments where we had to find a matching pair to bring a single character to life. This was an additional challenge most productions don’t face: even if their voices sounded similar, we needed their natural energies and attitudes to match both the characters AND each other.

    Erika Ishii (from Halo: Infinite and Deathloop), who voices our EDM bandmate Synthia, is a great example: she brings her orchestral music background and general JRPG nerddom into perfect harmony with vocalist Amanda Angeles, who comes from a traditional musical theatre background.

    “As a lifelong devotee of musical theater, Final Fantasy fan, cosplayer, and orchestra nerd (or orc dork, as we dubbed ourselves), I’m thrilled to be part of my dear friend’s vibrant and clever game,” Erika explained. “Jason and the team have been working passionately to make the game we always wanted to play, and I can’t wait for everyone to discover the world of Note.”

    Joe Zieja does it all in People of Note, both acting and singing as the snobby music manager and politician, Sharp! Joe is known for voicing Bruce Banner in Marvel Rivals and Wriothesley in Genshin Impact, but as a longtime musician, he’s more than capable of belting out the powerful notes required of such a mainstay in the political scene of Chordia!

    “When they asked ‘can you play a British ‘80s pop star in his 50s, and sing like one too?’ my answer was an enthusiastic ‘maybe?’ Trusting myself behind the mic as an actor is one thing – trusting myself behind the mic as a singer was a totally new experience for me in a video game. I came out of our sessions PUMPED. I can’t wait for fans to meet this insufferable has-been!”

    As seen in the Mashup clip above, Cadence (played by Heather Gonzalez and Lexxe) recruits Fret, an old-school garage rocker, to the band. Fret is voiced and sung by Jason Charles Miller, but you might be surprised to learn he also literally wrote and produced the song you just heard, in addition to most of the musical numbers! You’ll meet Fret as he’s fending off Martell, voiced by Debra Wilson of The Outer Wilds 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, second-in-command of the Homestead forces.

    Debra Wilson taps into that internal song when channeling her dangerous and driven character. “Everything in the known Universe is sound and vibration… and so it is with music!” waxes Debra. “This game was a privilege to be part of to tell this ‘funky’ story that places music at the forefront of every character, and captivates our own ‘song of life!!’ Play on, baby! Play on!”

  • Zenelss Zone Zero Version 2.6 has you playing as an event planner and social media manager for an idol group

    Zenless Zone Zero’s latest Special Program has delivered a tonne of information about the game’s big upcoming update, Version 2.6. This latest addition kicks off celebrations in New Eridu, and it’s dubbed Encore for an Old Dream.

    Version 2.6 is not far off, either, arriving in ZZZ on February 6 – exactly one week from today. Encore for an Old Dream is something of an in-between story that takes place after the end of Season 2.

    The narrative of 2.6 sees the Proxies’ return to Sixth Street for New Eridu’s annual Gilded Carrot Day. At the centre of the celebrations is the debut of idol group Angels of Delusion at the 404 Error music venue, but not all is as it seems.

    The story follows the Proxies getting invited backstage to support the group, which also includes helping them set up practice schedules, organise events and manage social media activities. There’s a rhythm minigame as part of that, along with new maps and mechanics for Marcel Adventure.

    Angels of Delusion is also the group that the two new Agents being introduced in this update belong to. Members of the same group are capable of performing coordinated attacks. The new arrivals are Sunna and Aria.

    Sunna is a an S-Rank Physical Support Agent who specialises in boosting teammates using Attack and Anomaly. Her Ultimate sees her pull out a giant hammer to land heavy damage, and bring teammates into combat using Quick Assist. Sunna’s companion, Bubblegum, can cast Cat’s Gaze on enemies, marking them for detonation. Bubblegum can also buff the squad’s attack.

    Aria is the other new arrival, the group’s lead vocalist who can shift between two forms, idol projection and construct. Aria is an Ether Anomaly Agent who also deals high burst damage, specifically against enemies who suffer from any Attribute Anomalies.

    Version 2.6’s S-Rank re-runs are Yixuan (Auric Ink – Rupture), and Yuzuha (Physical – Support), who you can look forward to as part of the banners.

    Version 2.6 will also expand Hollow Zero with a new game mode, Operation Matrix. The mode offers themed stages that rotate weekly, each offering new mechanics. You can now also Sweep in Hollow Zero.

    Beyond all the celebrations, this update also brings combat kit overhauls to a couple of older S-Rank characters, Lycaon and Harumasa. You can look forward to multiple limited-time events, too, including one where you can earn a new outfit for Pan Yinhu.

    The big event is naturally going to be themed around Gilded Carrot Day, and it actually starts today. There’s the usual run of login rewards (about 3,300 Polychromes), as well as daily activities. Yet another login event – Gilded Surprise, Wonderful Boo-ns – will be available February 14-23, offering daily draws from a pool of 4 billion Polychrome.

  • Infinity Nikki ushers in the Year of the Horse with… a deer-themed Version 2.2

    Infinity Nikki, the free-to-play, open-world dress-up RPG, has delivered yet another big content drop in the form of Chromatic Beings Everbright. The latest update brings the game up to version 2.2, and introduces a new narrative chapter, and gameplay taking place around a festival narrative.

    If you couldn’t guess already, the new theme is Bloom Festival, inspired by Chinese New Year celebrations.

    The big new story chapter takes place in the Infinity Nikki’s Wanxiang Realm. This deceptively serene and blissful region hides a dark secret, however. Chromafaces, the mythical inhabitants of the realm, have to embody fixed identities that dictate how they live and work.

    These are doled out through Character Tokens, which are used to assign roles to each individual. The story follows Nikki as she uncovers the script that runs the realm and the facade it props up. Nikki will help free Chromafaces and dispel the illusion.

    The Wanxiang Realm is split into three areas. Cai Ye is your typical lantern-lit district, where festivals and fireworks happen. Kongming Gorge is almost the opposite of that; a quiet and cold place. Finally, Jiuhua Pavilion literally floats above the region, and it’s home to neverending music and dance.

    The other big addition in 2.2 are the two new 5-Star Resonance Outfits with some interesting gameplay implications. Where Wanxiang Weaves Life is inspired by wuxia aesthetics, and true to its inspirations, it lets Nikki shapeshift into different Spirit Personas – and automatically collect resources in her vicinity.

    Chroma’s Mortal Heart, on the other hand, allows Nikki to fly around the Wanxiang Realm, drawing on the power of the Celestial Deer. This outfit also uses Celestial Deer Vision to automatically ping and mark treasure chests around her.

    You can also look forward to Nefarious Shadows, a new Ability Outfit, which lets Nikki see through disguises, and reveals hidden paths in the world.

    As with every major update, of course, there are themed activities and limited-time events throughout. Hotpot House is a cooking minigame where you attempt to run the eponymous restaurant, whereas Flavor Frenzy is series of platforming challenges that tasks you with gathering ingredients. Fortune Mahjong is a little more straightforward, with support for solo and multiplayer play.

  • Gearbox Lays Out Its Borderlands 4 2026 Roadmap

    This week, Gearbox Studios is starting small with its Borderlands 4 improvements by adding a photo mode. But that’s just the first step in the new content roadmap that will take Borderlands 4 through the third quarter of 2026 and beyond.

    Gearbox shared most of the details on Borderlands’ official site. According to the developer, it has taken to heart fan requests for cross-save progression, more endgame content, and new activities. Gearbox is working on those features and the game’s performance and stability issues, in addition to planning a new Raid Boss, a Takedown, and more.

    In February, Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon will launch with a new mission, new Legendary gear, and a themed Vault Card featuring 24 cosmetics and four rerollable pieces of gear that are unlocked through gameplay. It’s also going to introduce a new tier of gear that goes beyond Legendary: Pearlescent gear. All players will be able to get Pearlescent gear in Borderlands 4, but some of the best pieces will be exclusive to Bounty Pack 2. Note that unlike the first Bounty Pack, Legend of the Stone Demon is a paid DLC.

  • The Biggest Magic: The Gathering Crashers and Climbers This Week – January 29 – IGN

    Magic: The Gathering feels like it’s more popular than ever, and with no fewer than seven sets on the roadmap, here’s hoping there’s something for everyone.

    The first set of the year is Lorwyn Eclipsed, and it’s pretty darn great, actually. It’s also causing some big changes to card value as players rush to upgrade its precons, particularly the Blight Curse one. Thanks to our friends at TCGplayer, we’ve got a rundown of the movers and shakers kicking off the latest set.

    Climbers

    Multiversal Passage

    We’ll get to the Blight Curse deck in a moment, but this Spider-Man Land is seeing some play since it works with the Dance of the Elements precon.

    As Multiversal Passage enters, it can become any basic land you need it to be, entering tapped or being ready to go at the cost of two life. It’s wobbling at around $10 right now, but was half that just weeks ago.

    OK, it’s Auntie Ool’s time to shine. The Commander behind Blight Curse deck is all about putting -1/-1 counters on cards, and that makes Nest of Scarabs a great pick since it turns those counters into 1/1 insect creature tokens, too.

    It’s reached almost $10 seemingly overnight, and is a nice, obvious inclusion for the precon upgrade package.

    Generous Patron is anything but obvious, though. It puts +1/+1 counters on creatures, which at first glance feels like the opposite of what Auntie Ool’s deck will have you doing. Still, the text below reads “Whenever you put one or more counters on a creature you don’t control, draw a card.”

    Since that part doesn’t specify which counters trigger card draw, enjoy drawing more cards! It’s reached $12, again almost overnight.

    Finally, Pandemonium has spiked to around $14. It’s from the Exodus set, and lets a creature deal damage as it enters play. Almost tempted to put it in my Lord of Pain deck…

  • Stardew Valley Creator Busts 4 Myths About Haunted Chocolatier

    Haunted Chocolatier is the next game from the creator of Stardew Valley, one of the most successful and adored cozy RPGs ever made. Not surprisingly, fans are getting antsy to hear more about the upcoming release. But the wait is leading to all sorts of speculation, so developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone recently took to the game’s website to dispel the unfounded rumors in a new blog post.

    “Hey everyone, good news: I’ve been very productive lately on Haunted Chocolatier,” he wrote this week. “Yep, it’s taking a while to finish the game. That’s oaky. I know, I know, I shouldn’t have announced the game so early. But I had my reasons.” From there he went on to debunk some popular fan myths and set the record straight on Haunted Chocolatier‘s development.

    1. Haunted Chocolatier will not be abandoned and added to Stardew Valley instead

    He promised this wouldn’t happen, but said that even if he did end up abandoning his new game it would be absurd to think it would get added to the existing one. They were made in different engines and “you can’t just copy and paste Haunted Chocolatier into Stardew Valley.”

    2. Ideas for Haunted Chocolatier are not being tested inside Stardew Valley

    Barone once again reiterated that these are “separate” games even if they might share the same aesthetic. Furthermore, he said he doesn’t want to spoil anything being worked on in Haunted Chocolatier by teasing it early in Stardew Valley.

    3. He’s not working on Stardew Valley to avoid working on Haunted Chocolatier

    Barone maintained that the only reason he keeps releasing new Stardew Valley updates is because it’s still an incredibly popular game, not because anything with Haunted Chocolatier has gone awry.

    4. Haunted Chocolatier doesn’t have a 2030 release date

    The developer previously said he “hoped” that Haunted Chocolatier would be out in the next five years. That was taken by some to mean it won’t be out before then. He re-confirmed there is no actual set release date and it will just be done when it’s done, like all good things worth waiting for.

    Welp, glad that’s all settled. The Haunted Chocolatier subreddit can go to sleep now until the game is out, or better yet just keep playing Stardew Valley.

    I Hate This Place is an isometric survival horror game that very intentionally uses a lot of comic book–infused design choices. With the launch of the game today on Xbox Series X|S, I’d love to take this moment to dive a little into the how and why this was done to help create I Hate This Place.

    Living Alongside the Original “I Hate This Place” Comics

    The first obvious reason for the comic aesthetic is that our game is set in the same world and universe as the award-nominated comic series “I Hate This Place” by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin. But since we were always going to be making a standalone story with our own characters, we decided that keeping that connection to the comic series alive was important, but it had to be in a way that wasn’t just parroting the original look.

    Below are some examples comparing the game to the comics so you can see where and how we stayed true to the source while also allowing our team to make the art style and overall feel our own. Elements such as proportions, the vibe of the setting, sticking more to realism vs a totally cartoony approach, were all taken from the original comics. Where we chose to diverge was things like in the shading, line thickness, and the use of a wider color palette.

    Bringing the 80s Back

    Since the original series takes place in the 1980s, both the comics and the game lean heavily into that strong, stylized comic book aesthetic inspired by that decade. This is not a muted or realistic take on horror. Instead, it is loud, a bit graphic, and unapologetically over the top.

    Visually, that again meant thick black outlines, bright and punchy colors, and heavy contrast and saturation throughout the world. Shadows are deep and deliberate, highlights pop, and there is, of course, plenty of VHS-style static.

    Sound You Can See

    While comic-inspired visuals are the most obvious choice, we also wanted the gameplay itself to have comic flair. One of the most distinctive design choices in I Hate This Place is how sound is communicated visually. Instead of relying purely on audio cues, the game translates sounds into comic book-style callouts that appear directly in the world.

    For example, your footsteps are represented on screen as bold “thud” effects and are color-coded to communicate volume. Green footsteps mean you are quiet, crouched, moving slowly, and minimizing danger. Yellow footsteps signal normal movement and moderate noise. Red footsteps mean you are running or being loud, effectively becoming a beacon for nearby threats. This is especially important because many of the monsters in I Hate This Place also hunt by sound, not just sight.

    Weapons follow the same philosophy. Guns don’t simply fire out an audio crack. Instead, they visually rattle across the screen with bold “bang!” and “ratatat!” effects. Creatures also announce themselves with jagged, unsettling visual screech callouts, reinforcing their presence just as they are about to attack. As a result, sound becomes something you read just as much as hear, much like in a comic panel.

    Dialogue in Bubbles, Not Boxes

    Another way we ramp up the comic book presentation is through character communication. Dialogue in I Hate This Place appears in speech bubbles above each characters’ heads rather than as traditional subtitles at the bottom of the screen. This keeps conversations grounded in the feeling that you are playing through a graphic novel rather than watching a cinematic overlay.

    At its core, I Hate This Place is about honoring the comic while finding ways to make its visual language interactive. The thick lines, vibrant colors, on-screen effects, and speech bubbles are not just stylistic flourishes. They are intentional design choices meant to shape how you read the world and make it feel like both a game and a comic book at the same time.

  • Little Woody is an adorable 2D puzzle game with a great short demo that you can check out now, but be warned: It’ll leave you wanting more

    Little Woody may be the shortest demo I’ve ever played, but it certainly left me wanting more. My favourite way to cut through the chaos of multiplayer shooters or terrifying horror games is to sprinkle in some light-hearted games, whether they be sims or puzzles, I don’t care, as long as it resets my adrenaline.

    I stumbled across Little Woody after playing one too many Arc Raiders matches. With a free demo currently available, I thought there was no harm in checking out this 2D point-and-click puzzle game and having a change in pace. The only reason I was wrong in thinking this is actually because I enjoyed it too much, and suddenly reaching the end of the demo enraged me more than a backstab in Arc Raiders could—I was just starting to get into the puzzle-solving groove.

    Quantic Dream has opened up its upcoming fantasy MOBA for a second closed beta weekend starting from today, January 29, until 9AM UTC on Monday February 2.

    The closed beta is for PC only in Europe, Asia and North America and potential players can register to join the waitlist for a key at the game’s official website or on the Spellcasters Chronicles Steam page. Players who had access to the first closed beta will automatically have access to the second, but you can sign up on both the site and Steam to increase your chances of entry.

    The MOBA genre is competitive in every sense and Quantic Dream is trying to break into it with a Magic the Gathering-esque spin on the format. Players build a deck of cards before queuing into teams of 3, then face off as battling mages, summoning creatures, building fortifications and casting spells rather than choosing a Hero with unique abilities in the traditional MOBA style.

    Beta content includes a new map, 6 new spells and 5 new summon creatures for your deck, as well as 3 new buildings too.

    Also new for this second closed beta is an introduction and tutorial for some of the game’s finer details, as well as a text chat for strategising and much-needed player reporting system to go with it. It will also feature early versions of the Spellcaster customisation system and ranked matches.

    Quantic Dream has said that this closed beta places a strong emphasis on performance, memory usage and overall gameplay stability to create a smoother experience, so with that in mind, here are the minimum and recommended PC specs:
