  • The Silo Series Book Box Set Drops To Lowest Price Ever At Amazon

    [ad_1]

We’re still waiting for a premiere date for Silo Season 3, but fans of the Apple TV+ dystopian science fiction series can bide the time by reading the source material in a stylish new format. A Deluxe Collector’s Edition of Hugh Howey’s best-selling book Shift was published earlier this week. Season 3 of Silo is based on Shift, so it’s the perfect time to check out this stellar collection of novellas. Shift Deluxe Collector’s Edition is up for grabs for $37 at Amazon or Walmart.

Shift is the second book in the Silo series, though it takes place before Wool (Book 1). Fans can get a matching Wool Deluxe Collector’s Edition for only $20 (was $40) at Walmart. This deal was also available at Amazon, but it sold out earlier this week. Amazon and Walmart also have The Silo Series 3-Book Box Set for an all-time low of only $22, which is saying a lot because William Morrow published the paperback collection in 2020. And if you like ebooks, the Kindle edition of the box set is only $3 for a limited time.

Hugh Howey – Silo Series: Deluxe Collector’s Editions

    Silo Series Deluxe Collector's Editions
    Silo Series Deluxe Collector’s Editions

We would guess Dust will get a matching Deluxe Collector’s Edition of its own next fall. For now, you’ll need to settle for a paperback copy, as the hardcover edition of Dust is very expensive on the reseller market.

    • Wool Deluxe Collector’s Edition — $20 ($40)
    • Shift Deluxe Collector’s Edition — $37 ($40)

Wool tells the tale of a world struggling to survive. What is left of humanity has been forced to live in an underground silo, as the world above is no longer fit for life. Things grow even more troublesome when the silo’s sheriff leaves his post, and a mechanic named Juliette is forced to take his place. What follows is a dramatic sci-fi epic that sees Juliette attempting to unravel a world-altering conspiracy.

Howey originally self-published Wool via Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing program. As mentioned, he released the book in chunks (novellas), which is reminiscent of serialized novels that were popular in the 1800s by authors such as Charles Dickens. The Martian author Andy Weir experienced similar success with a serialized release strategy, but Weir utilized his personal blog to deliver the story to readers.

Wool quickly became one of the early massive success stories on the Kindle publishing platform. That success led to a distribution deal for a print version of Wool and eventually a hit TV series. The Apple TV+ series debuted in 2023 to critical acclaim. The series will conclude its run with Season 4, which is expected to air late next year. This timeline could change depending on whether Season 3 winds up airing later this year or in early 2026.

The Silo Series also has an excellent audiobook version performed by Edoardo Ballerini. Audible members can get all three books for around $30, and non-members will wind up paying about $40. A graphic novel adaptation of Wool released in 2014 and is available for only $11.50 (was $19) in paperback.

    More Fiction by Hugh Howey

Howey is also the author of multiple standalone novels and the best-selling duology called The Sand Chronicles. We’ve included a list of Howey’s other books beyond the Silo series below:

    Upcoming Deluxe Edition Sci-Fi Novels

Red Rising / Bobiverse Deluxe Editions
Red Rising / Bobiverse Deluxe Editions

Several other popular contemporary sci-fi series are getting lavish new hardcover editions in the coming weeks. Dennis E. Taylor’s irreverent space epic Bobiverse is getting its first hardcover edition October 7. The first printing of We Are Legion (We Are Bob) has sprayed edges with “BOB” written over and over again. It also has fully illustrated endpapers. The best part is that We Are Legion’s Deluxe Edition is only $21 (was $30) at Amazon. Book 2, For We Are Many, is up for preorder for $27.90 (was $30), and Book 3, All These Worlds, is available for $30.

Meanwhile, Pierce Brown’s best-selling Red Rising Series is getting an even fancier hardcover edition on October 14. Red Rising Deluxe Slipcase Edition is up for preorder for $35 (was $50) at Amazon. This edition includes an illustrated foil slipcase, sprayed edges, a fold-out poster, and full-color endpapers.

  • Weeks after Silksong’s launch I can’t stop thinking about this streamer’s masterful troll campaign against its fans: ‘They made a whole game about getting to your car but you don’t have car keys, and you’re excited for that?’

    [ad_1]

I’ve spent a not-insignificant portion of my waking hours the last few weeks thinking (and writing) about Hollow Knight: Silksong, but I may have actually spent more time replaying a description of the game from streamer Northernlion in my head over and over again like a Nick at Nite rerun.

While Silksong was the focal point of online gaming conversation from its late August release date announcement up until the launch of Borderlands 4, Northernlion not only cheerily avoided streaming it alongside other big Twitch channels, but spent the Silksong hype period roasting viewers who asked why he wasn’t playing it.

  • Fortnite’s Chaotic Delulu Mode: What You Need To Know About Proximity Chat Battle Royale

    [ad_1]

Just when you thought Fortnite already had too many battle royale modes, Epic Games goes and drops another one. The new mode, dubbed Delulu, is completely unlike any of the other battle royale variations because it does two things the others don’t: It has proximity voice chat, and encourages teaming mid-game with other players not in your group. But it’s also a mode where only one person comes out as the winner. Katniss and Peeta’s trick with the berries will not work here.

Delulu has been a blast so far, and matches feel vaguely like Epic mashed up its normal BR with its Party Royale mode–it’s a battle royale about socializing. You can use an emote specific to Delulu to join and exit other players’ parties on the fly. And since teaming is allowed in this mode, nothing prevents you from collaborating with even more players after you hit the max number for a party.

Since the social aspect is so crucial to the purpose of this mode, you’re required to have a mic, and have the in-game voice chat on and set to Everybody before you can even queue up for it. You can join a round with your friends, but everyone drops in alone, and you’ll eventually have to put them down if you want to win.

Delulu is Fortnite’s latest attempt to innovate with a new battle royale mode.

Right now, Delulu is live on the weekend only, which means it will be available from Friday morning until Monday morning–and it’s slated to return next Friday for the same span of time, too. And while it’s delightful, there’s a bit of a learning curve since there are some nuances to it that Fortnite itself will not explain to you, so we figured we’d take a moment to highlight three important things you should know as you drop into Fortnite Delulu.

There are no reboots in Delulu, but any play can resurrect any knocked player

No matter how you play it, Delulu is a solo mode that ends each round with just one winner. So when you’re dead, the round is over for you. There will be no rebooting you. However, Delulu players are always knocked before they die, and any other player can res you regardless of which team they’re on or if they’re even in a squad at all. It’s possible your foes will have mercy. It’s not unheard of.

The proximity chat effect applies to your squad, too

Nothing about the voice chat changes when you join a squad–you’ll still only be able to talk to each other when you’re in range of the proximity chat, unlike the way squad comms work in normal BR modes. You’ll want to keep that in mind when you find that your three teammates are all hanging out together out of your earshot–they might be planning to betray you.

Playing as a Delulu non-hostile actually works

While there are people who play Delulu the same way they would any other battle royale mode, most folks seem pretty willing to engage with the social aspect and just hang out. I’ve had games already where we had more than a dozen players roaming the countryside until the endgame forced us to turn on each other.

And, yes, I’ve had more than a few rounds that ended very abruptly after a group of sociopathic teens pretended to be chill, only to shoot me in the face when I let them get close, but I’ve had very few early deaths despite taking a pacifistic approach whenever I could. The whole thing is a lot less anxiety-inducing than I expected.

Don’t try to win in Delulu

While I understand that being the last person standing is the stated purpose of Delulu, this particular BR mode is best experienced with a “let’s see how this plays out” sort of view on things. It’s a rare situation where you can truly say that it’s more about the journey than the destination, and that’s because rounds of Delulu often play out in weird and unpredictable ways. In this mode, the most fun usually occurs from doing things completely differently than you would in the other battle royale modes.

  • ‘The Last Couple of Years Have Been Rough’ – Ninja Says ‘Trolls’ Mock His Viewer Numbers ‘Every Day’ – IGN

    [ad_1]

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has opened up about the state of his streaming career, including how “the internet and trolls” make sure to point out his decline in livestream viewers “every day.”

The content creator spoke about the ups and downs of his time online during an interview with the BBC. He’s dabbled in other popular multiplayer titles like Call of Duty and Marvel Rivals but is undeniably best known for his relationship with Epic Games’ battle royale hit, Fortnite. Ninja’s time with the building-centered shooter saw him become the first Twitch streamer to reach 10 million followers, and he even appeared in-game as a skin for fans to pick up and wear during matches.

Ninja. Photo by Denise Truscello/Getty Images for Amazon’s Crown Channel.

Although he once held the title of the biggest streamer on Twitch, Ninja has spent recent years struggling to reach the same heights he did in the late 2010s. Moments like his famous stream with Drake still remain as gargantuan career highlights, but the last few years have been relatively quiet.

“I think I’m the only streamer on the planet who was pulling 100,000 viewers [per stream] consistently,” Ninja said, “but now, I think I get like seven or eight thousand combined from my Twitch and YouTube, if there isn’t a big update on Fortnite or [Marvel Rivals].”

It’s literally every day that I’m getting berated online.

It’s a drop in numbers that is hard to ignore, with the streamer putting at least some of the blame on Fortnite’s diminished popularity in recent months. He’s keeping his streaming schedule chugging along with 19.2 million Twitch followers and 23.7 million YouTube subscribers despite the viewership decline. Of course, that isn’t stopping naysayers from finding their way into his chat.

“So that’s something that the internet and trolls remind me of every day,” Ninja added. “The moderators are constantly banning and blocking. It’s literally every day that I’m getting berated online.”

He added: “It’s tough, man. The last couple of years have been rough.”

Ninja saw tremendous growth on Twitch before making a (brief) switch to Microsoft’s now-defunct livestream platform, Mixer, in 2019. He then made his return to Twitch in 2020, while also establishing himself on YouTube that same year.

Ninja has taken breaks from streaming in the past, and although it seems retirement is on his mind, it doesn’t sound like the kind of path even his biggest haters should expect him to take anytime soon.

“I still love it and have a community that is strong and stays with me,” he added. “I’m a gamer and an entertainer at heart – its in my blood.”

Ninja shared his thoughts on the ups and downs of his streaming career while prepping to launch a 24-hour charity event that kicked off earlier today, September 19. The Gaming for Cause livestream will see the streamer raising awareness about skin cancer following his own melanoma diagnosis in March 2024.

“Me and my wife were going to give to this cause no matter what because it’s going to be important to us for the rest of our lives but it’s not just about us giving our money its the awareness aspect too,” he added.

The Gaming for Cause livestream is currently available to watch on both Twitch and YouTube and has reached $117,190 of its $250,000 donation goal as of the time of this piece’s publication. For more on Ninja, you can see him tell actor Kevin Hart how the Drake livestream came to be.

  • PlayStation Studio Boss Breaks Silence On Dev Fired For Charlie Kirk Joke

    [ad_1]

For the last week, a war has been waging in the YouTube comments of each new Ghost of Yotei trailer as the PlayStation 5 exclusive nears its release date early next month. That’s because a developer at Sucker Punch Productions joked about the assassination of Charlie Kirk on social media. Sony confirmed it had parted ways with the employee following a right-wing pressure campaign, but declined to issue any further statement. Now studio head and co-founder Brian Fleming has commented on the firing directly in a new interview.

Sucker Punch artist Drew Harrison, a nearly 10-year veteran of the studio, posted “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back” on the day the assassination took place. Less than 24 hours later she confirmed she’d been fired. “Drew Harrison is no longer an employee of Sucker Punch Productions,” a spokesperson for Sony told Kotaku at the time.

“The facts are accurate,” Fleming told Stephen Totilo’s Game File when asked about the situation. “Drew’s no longer an employee here. I think we’re aligned as a studio that celebrating or making light of someone’s murder is a deal-breaker for us, and we condemn that, kind of in no uncertain terms. That’s sort of our studio, and that’s kind of where we are.”

    YouTube / Kotaku

Despite Harrison’s swift firing, angry internet users, urged on by clout-chasing culture warriors like Mark “Grummz” Kern, have been demanding Sony take action against any staff members who may have liked or reposted Harrison’s comment, while also targeting other companies and their employees over potential anti-Kirk sentiment. That included Bethesda, which was accused of mocking the right-wing podcast’s supporters when it posted a clip from Indiana Jones and the Great Circle of the famous Nazi puncher saying to a kitten, “You don’t care much about these fascists, do you?” It was later deleted.

Microsoft Gaming employees were also targeted, including by Elon Musk. “We’re aware of the views expressed by a small subset of our employees regarding recent events,” the company announced in response on September 12. “We take matters like this very seriously and we are currently reviewing each individual situation. Comments celebrating violence against anyone are unacceptable and do not align with our values.” A spokesperson for the company declined to comment when asked if anyone had been fired from Microsoft following these investigations.

“Sucker Punch is amazing & one of the last few bright shining lights in the game industry,” Harrison posted this week. “I still support them and I cannot condone any animosity directed at them. It’s truly all the best people.”

  • Swiped Review – IGN

    [ad_1]

Swiped is now available to stream on Hulu in the United States.

As an installment in her filmography, Swiped represents a major leap forward for director Rachel Lee Goldenberg. Coming up from direct-to-video entries for The Asylum and made-for-TV Lifetime movies, Goldenberg launched two more prominent features in 2020 with Valley Girl and Unpregnant, only for their rollouts to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Five years later, she now has Disney money to spend (although under the 20th Century Studios name) with Swiped, certainly her most high profile project yet, garnering a Toronto Film Festival premiere before launching on Hulu and Disney+ worldwide. However, the end result is a decent film that could have been stronger if it were willing to take as many risks as its subject.

Swiped tells the story of Whitney Wolfe (she took the name Herd after marrying Michael Herd in 2017), famous for her integral role in Tinder’s rise and also for being the founder and CEO of Bumble. As a key player in the creation of two of the biggest dating apps in existence, it’s not unfair to say that Wolfe has had an astronomical impact on worldwide culture, especially with a younger generation who have had their entire dating life filtered through the presence of such apps. Yet you might not get the full sense of that impact by watching Swiped, which focuses more on the micro consequences in regards to Wolfe’s personal history with the companies, in particular her sexual harassment suit against her former colleagues at Tinder and her subsequent reemergence as the head of Bumble.

The dramatic arc of Wolfe’s rise, downfall and eventual return to prominence certainly makes for an easy enough three act structure, but it also makes Swiped into a movie too basic to do its subject justice. It’s an interesting story on its own merits, and certainly reflects the toxic and misogynistic tendencies of technology company culture. Yet if Wolfe is made undoubtedly sympathetic because of the way her cohorts treat her as she fights to make a name for herself in a male-dominated workspace, the movie never turns enough of a critical eye on Wolfe herself to make her three-dimensional. Swiped’s Whitney Wolfe is a relatable figure because of her struggles, but she never becomes a rounded figure because of her choices.

Swiped is a movie too basic to do its subject justice.

That’s not for lack of trying on the acting front, though. Lily James, of Cinderella and Baby Driver fame, has been an underappreciated actor for years, and turns in a performance that’s better than the script deserves. James’ most compelling attribute, present both on screen and stage (shout-out to her excellent work as Eve Harrington in Ivo van Hove’s 2019 production of All About Eve), is her ability to stealthily take over a scene with small gestures that eventually coalesce into a bigger moment later on. That ability to disarm the audience to produce pathos is what makes her so charming to watch, yet the depth she tries to add to her take on Wolfe isn’t always backed up by the writing. We understand by watching her why she’s good at persuading people to try her products, but charm can only take a character so far when there are reasons to treat her with skepticism.

This becomes a problem when the movie feels obligated to give Wolfe a “dark night of the soul” beat that isn’t earned. Although one of Goldenberg’s best directorial touches is how she assembles a frantic montage of Wolfe’s life falling apart through her phone as she becomes the internet’s punching bag of the moment after the sexual harassment suit, this is followed up with Wolfe meeting with former work friend Tisha (Myha’la), who tells her that Wolfe didn’t do enough to help the other women in the office after she earned her co-founder status. James’ furious response to this (and the inherent racial dynamic of a white woman snapping at a Black woman who’s trying to hold her accountable for her actions) is one of the movie’s best moments because it feels emotionally honest about Wolfe’s failings while not taking away from the very real abuse that Wolfe suffered.

    null
Lily James stars as Whitney Wolfe in Swiped.

But instead of unraveling this thread for more substance, Wolfe and Tisha reconcile in their next encounter after a hasty apology, and Wolfe is restored to her “forward-minded feminist tech leader” status with nary a further mention of any wrongdoing. That the movie then mostly skips over the actual development of Bumble, going from shoebox operation to 35 million-user app in basically one scene transition, only makes this issue worse. This was the era where Wolfe developed the foundation of her personal fortune, which would make her a billionaire by the age of 31. Nobody amasses that kind of money without making serious compromises along the way, but the movie presents Wolfe’s ascension as an easy enough matter because, well, a woman did it this time.

The movie also never grapples with the fact that Wolfe’s impact on the world at large could arguably be considered a net negative. Sure, many couples have connected through dating apps, but said apps have also heavily commodified the very concept of meeting potential romantic partners, turning judging others based on a few seconds of visual impression into a gamified and monetized nightmare for many hapless users. Wolfe had a direct hand in creating this state of affairs, but Swiped never considers that worth examining. It’s a shame, because a better movie would have trusted its audience to make their own judgments of Wolfe based on a fuller account of her actions, instead of prescribing how it wants its viewers to feel.

  • Save 25% Off Donkey Kong Bananza for Nintendo Switch 2, Still IGN’s Only Masterpiece Game of 2025 – IGN

    [ad_1]

The Nintendo Switch 2 console only has two high-profile original games that you can get right now: Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, with Kirby Air Riders coming later in November. Mario Kart World is great, but Donkey Kong Bananza has entrenched itself as one of the best games of the year and an absolute must-buy for anyone with a Switch 2.

It’s unlikely that we will see any first party Nintendo Switch 2 games discounted at domestic retailers during Black Friday, but AliExpress is offering a great deal on an imported copy. Lucky Tech Store has it right now for $52.49 after $12 off coupon code “AEUS12“. Delivery is free and the game is shipped from a local US warehouse. That means it arrives within a week and you don’t have to worry about tariffs. All physical Switch 2 games are region unlocked, so you’ll be able to play this game without any problems on a US-based Switch 2 console.

    Donkey Kong Bananza for $52.49

Not only did we rate Donkey Kong a 10/10, it’s the only game we’ve given a Masterpiece rating so far this year. Although there hasn’t been much competition in the way of Switch 2 exclusive games for 2025, this has been a fantastic year so far for console gaming in general. We’ve seen some of the best games released in recent history, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Death Stranding 2, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, all of which got close to a Masterpiece rating but didn’t quite hit the mark. That’s not to say that Donkey Kong Bananza is necessarily better than those other games since, after all, different people have reviewed each of these games, but it’s a testament to just how outstanding Donkey Kong Bananza is to have achieved that score.

If you don’t yet own a Switch 2, now might be a good time to get one. It’s now in stock everywhere, including Amazon, without any invitation required. Nintendo also recently raised prices on Switch 2 accessories and warned that the console itself might see a price hike in the near future. Check out our Nintendo Switch 2 review, in which Tom Mark aptly describes the new console as “a vital but unexciting upgrade to a console I already love.”

  • This Creepy Slasher Movie Inspired By An Iconic Disney Character Is Coming To 4K Blu-Ray

    [ad_1]

There are immutable truths about our world: rain falls, wind blows, and the second a beloved IP enters the public domain territory, you can bet that a slasher movie based on it will hit theaters in record time. We’ve seen it happen to Winnie the Pooh, and last year it happened to Steamboat Willie, the 1928 Disney character who served as the prototype for what would eventually become Mickey Mouse. Steamoat Willie entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, and then earlier this year was reimagined as a horror movie villain with the animated horror-comedy short, Screamboat, created by . The movie is getting a Blu-ray release on December 9, including a fancy steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray that’s availabe to preorder for $43 at Amazon.

    Screamboat Bonus Material

The Blu-ray doesn’t come with much in the way of extras, but you’ll at least get a few deleted scenes, a short behind-the-scenes documentary, and audio commentary with Willie’s actor, David Howard Thornton.

    • Audio commentary track with actor David Howard Thornton
    • Documentary: The Making of Screamboat
    • Deleted scenes

Screamboat was announced a mere day after Steamboat Willie entered the public domain. It tells the story of a late-night ferry ride in New York piloted by a murderous version of the formerly kind-hearted mouse, who has become warped and twisted after years of neglect. Passengers who use the ferry fall victim to Willie’s rampage. While the movie is admittedly forgettable and a cash grab at best, it is notable for its connections to a larger horror movie franchise, Terrifier. The producers of Terrifier 2 and 3 are responsible for this movie, and David Howard Thornton–who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier movies–steps into the furry costume of Willie for this movie.

The movie has had a mixed reception since it was first released in cinemas in April, but if you want to see a tiny mouse horribly murder people and you’re a fan of practical effects, then Screamboat might be worth picking up. It’s impressively ultraviolent, and it’s the kind of movie you can enjoy without needing to overthink things.

  • How Mecha Break’s New Strikers Change the Battlefield in Season 1: Pulse of the Indigo Stone – Xbox Wire

    [ad_1]

    Summary

    • Mecha Break Season 1: Pule of the Indigo Stone is now available for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.
    • New Strikers Hel and Alphard bring new abilities and tactics to competitive play
    • New ace pilots, striker designs, outfits, and in-game events give new and returning players more content and more rewards than ever before.

The new season of Mecha Break is here! Season 1: Pulse of the Indigo Stone brings thrilling new updates to the game in the form of new events, ace pilots, and of course, new mecha.

Mecha Break launched earlier this year and invited players to compete in high-octane battles across three unique game modes. This season, we’re giving players more ways to style their pilot, personalize their strikers, and enjoy their time in a new sci-fi universe.

At the heart of this season are two powerful new strikers ready to shake up the battlefield: Hel and Alphard.

Hel – A True Master of Disguise

Hel is a medium-sized attacker with abilities that allow it to counter enemy attacks and utilize deception like no striker has before. Designed for players who want to ambush and surprise opponents, they can turn the tide of battle in an instant.

At the core of its arsenal are two powerful drones:

    • Pulse Trap Drone — This drone staggers any enemy who enters its field. The pulse trap drone enters stealth upon deployment, making it a great way to ambush any opponent who falls into the trap. It only triggers when HEL is nearby, so timing and placement must be considered for a precision strike.
    • Reflector Drone — This clever device doesn’t just block incoming fire — it sends it right back to your opponent. Position it strategically to shield yourself and counter enemy attacks.

Perhaps its most unique ability is arguably its deception kit, which can fully disguise Hel as an enemy striker. This prevents opponents from being able to target or even attack you as long as you’re locked onto an enemy. This illusion breaks as soon as you attack, making it crucial for you to choose the perfect moment to attack an unsuspecting opponent.

These awesome abilities make HEL a powerful force on the battlefield. With the right strategy and execution, it can act as a silent predator — once revealed, it may already be too late.

Alphard – Sending a Shock to the Battlefield

While Hel rewards deception and precision strikes, Alphard can shake up a match with devastating, team-wide attacks. As a fellow medium attacker, it utilizes long-range assault capabilities and powerful attacks to pierce through enemy lines.

What really sets them apart from other strikers is its Rapid Assault Mode. This high-speed charge breaks enemy lock-ons and makes foes vulnerable to powerful follow-up attacks.

Once rapid assault mode is activated, Alphard can unleash its signature move:

    • Electro-Tail – Deploys an explosive wire that can devastate any enemy in its path, bypassing fluid armor, dealing physical damage, and staggering nearby enemies. On top of this, electro-tail also emits a dangerous smoke that inflicts interference on enemy strikers and can even destroy nearby drones.

These compounding factors make it necessary to use great caution the moment an opposing Alphard enters its rapid assault mode.

Hel and Alphard are just two of the exciting new updates coming to Mecha Break. New events, ace pilots, progression rewards, striker designs, and features make this the best time to play. Pilots, to your stations!

  • Roborock Doesn’t Want You Struggling With Housework, It’s Selling Its Latest Model With No Margin – Kotaku

    [ad_1]

Budget robot vacuum cleaners have three huge complaints. One, they’re never powerful enough so there’s always still some dust and some crumbs left behind. Two, they usually do mopping not so great so you’re left with streaks or worse still, no way to mop. And three, they need constant maintenance because you have to empty them almost every run. The Roborock Qrevo S5V, launched this summer, fixes all of that in one lean machine. Even better, Amazon knocked it down to only $549 (from $899), its lowest price yet, which makes it a deal worth paying attention.

    See at Amazon

    Solves Your Daily Hassles

The new Roborock Qrevo S5V is all about sheer cleaning power: Its 12,000Pa HyperForce suction is several times stronger than many budget models which means it lifts stubborn dirt from rugs, carpets and hard floors. If you’ve struggled with pet hair tangling inside brushes, this model is certified to end that frustration. Roborock uses a floating rubber main brush designed to resist tangles, combined with an arc-shaped side brush that sweeps along edges while avoiding hair buildup.

Mopping is no afterthought here, either. Instead of a single plate scratching the floor, the FlexiArm design includes two turning mop pads. They turn around 200 times per minute to buff out stains, down into corners and chair legs. The arm goes so far that the pads can swing into spaces other robots cannot cover. In addition, the mop lifts automatically 10 millimeters when it drives over carpets so you never have soggy rugs. You can control water flow through 30 levels using the companion app to accommodate any floor surfaces, from delicate wood to hard tile.

Then there is the dock which is essentially having an assistant built-in: The device isn’t just dumping the dustbin into a large bin capable of holding seven weeks’ worth of garbage. The device also washes the mop pads with clean water and dries them with warm air so that they don’t smell. You won’t have to top it up as frequently either since the dock will charge the water tank in the robot automatically, giving it enough to clean a massive 3,500 square feet on one fill.

Navigation is accomplished by Roborock through LiDAR scanning: It maps rooms 360 degrees and then plans effective cleaning routes. If you have a multi-level house, it remembers up to four different floor plans and auto-switches as needed. Structured light sensors have obstacle avoidance, so it won’t chomp toy cars, run into cables, or get stuck under chair legs. In the app, you can even define no-go zones when you know a space is too messy.

For a record-low price of $549, the Qrevo S5V positions itself in a very desirable spot. Numerous competitors within the category either skip better mopping, compromise on suction, or lack a good self-maintenance dock. If you’ve been waiting for a vacuum and mop combo that truly reduces cleaning stress, this is the most convincing deal so far.

  • Explore the Magical Origins of a British Gaming Icon—with a Dash of Sarcasm – Xbox Wire

    [ad_1]

    Summary

    • Simon the Sorcerer returns in a prequel.
    • A cauldron full of magical stuff launching October 28.
    • Preorder available today with a bonus DLC.

Hi there! We’re ININ Games, an indie publisher renowned for keeping the essence of retro and quirky video gaming alive—right from the heart of Kirchheim/Teck in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Yes, that’s right. Among the home of long-established luxury car makers and engineering legends, we’re doing something a bit different: publishing indie and retro games crafted with passion, love and intent.

And today, we have a special announcement to share with the Xbox community. Drumroll, please…

Simon the Sorcerer: Origins – Digital Deluxe Edition is officially coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on October 28, 2025.

Whether you’re a devoted nostalgist of the original 1990s point-and-click classic or discovering Simon’s magical world for the first time, both this edition as well as the standard edition are ideal for you. For a strange kind of fashion there’s a wrong and right!

What is Simon the Sorcerer: Origins?

A prequel to the iconic adventure series, Simon the Sorcerer: Origins takes players back to the very beginning and beyond. There ain’t no mistaking: Step into the shoes (and cloak) of a younger Simon before he became the sarcastic sorcerer you might be familiar with and love. With a magically hand-drawn art style, modernized gameplay, and storytelling packed with quintessentially British humour and razor-edged banter, this game is a love letter to fans of classic adventures and newcomers alike. Developed by the multi-talented Italian studio Smallthing Studios, and heavily inspired by British comedy legends, the game unites nostalgic charm with a fresh dynamic flavour.

Plus, we’re beyond excited that Chris Barrie (Yes, the original voice actor!) will return to bring the titular, sassy, sarcastic, legendary apprentice sorcerer back to life. And it’s not just English-speaking sorcerers who get to celebrate. Germany will be rejoicing too: Erik Borner, who voiced Simon and lent him his signature sarcasm in the 1990s, is also making a comeback! No AI, no black magic, no smoke and mirrors, no gimmicks..it’s really them, back again!

    Transcending Borders and Cultures

This game isn’t just a throwback—it’s a truly multicultural unified effort —brought to you by German, Turkish, Italian, Nigerian and Japanese professionals, Gen-Xers, Gen-Zers and Millenials, men and women, all working together to bring a British character’s tale to life. Simon hails from the West Midlands, but his adventure transcends borders—just like our sales, graphics and development team. It’s a project that underlines the universal themes of fun, humor, magic and sarcasm!

    A Reimagined Legacy

ININ Games has a penchant for titles that blend nostalgia with modern enhancements. If you’ve played our previous releases like Shadow of the Ninja Reborn, Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps and Beans 2, or any of the Cottons, you’ll know what we mean. Our mandate is to breathe new life into classic franchises whilst honouring their legacy, the zeitgeist of the time and infusing modern elements to suit contemporary preferences.

Simon the Sorcerer: Origins is no exception. Expect smart, dreamy riddles, charmingly bizarre characters, and fourth-wall-breaking humor—all delivered in a fresh, visually rich world. There ain’t no mistaking!

    Pre-Orders Available Now

Before the official launch on October 28, 2025, both the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of Simon the Sorcerer: Origins can now be pre-ordered in the Microsoft Xbox Store.

Free Pre-Order Bonus: Simon the Sorcerer: Origins – Pony DLC

This unique portable cassette player provides the musical backdrop to your quest. Relive the magic by jamming to the iconic original soundtrack of the home computer classic Simon the Sorcerer (1993).

We can’t wait for you to meet young Simon. He never (really) gives up or lets you down, for his mind is a beacon in the middle of the night!

Simon the Sorcerer: Origins – Digital Deluxe Edition

    ININ Games

Step into a world of wonder and whimsy—This version includes not only the fantastic main game, but also the official soundtrack, a spellbinding collection of melodies that will dance through your mind and stir your soul. But that’s not all! Accompanying it is a truly enchanting artbook, bursting at the edges with breathtaking illustrations, forgotten relics, curious characters, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into the heart of Simon’s story. It’s a treasure trove of imagination, crafted to delight dreamers, collectors, and adventurers alike!

    A New Journey Begins!

Thirty years after his first appearance on the screen, Simon is drawn into a foreign world by an ancient prophecy, that will tell his origins. This world is populated by powerful yet mostly useless wizards and strange creatures. On his journey, Simon must solve a series of tricky puzzles, operate alchemical devices, and learn powerful spells. And yes, he also has to taste a few disgusting stews!

    Puzzles, Magic, and Simon’s Humor

Whether you’re visiting the Magical World for the first time or returning once again – Simon is back, along with his unique sense of humor and a completely new graphic style. Simon the Sorcerer Origins brings the charm of the original saga back in a completely hand-drawn graphic style, blending classic gameplay mechanics with a fresh, new world of magic.

    Your Adventure, Your Puzzles

Solve loads of tricky puzzles, test your wits, and face a variety of absurd situations and quirky characters. Combine items and clues to unravel the big mystery and become the legendary wizard you were always meant to be.

    Features:

    – Official prequel to the cult series: Find out what Simon was up to just before his first magical misstep into the fantasy world, long before he started insulting talking doors.

    – A story with heart, humour, and a hat: Between motherly love, a forced move, and a healthy dose of chaos, Simon’s journey to becoming an (unwilling) hero begins.

    – Hand-drawn art style & iconic voice: Featuring lovingly hand-drawn graphics and Simon’s original voice, performed by British voice actor Chris Barrie, this feels like a trip back to the ’90s, just with far better resolution.

    – Between magic spells and cogs: Classic point-and-click gameplay meets modern mechanics. Solve quirky puzzles, crack ancient mechanisms, and collect (as always) way too many items.

    – Sarcasm, slapstick, and eccentric wizards: Encounter bizarre characters, delight in even odder conversations, and revel in Simon’s unmistakable wit: equal parts cheeky banter and “very British” humour.

    – Alchemy, magic & other mishaps: Tinker with spells, fiddle with alchemical contraptions, and dabble in questionable recipes. With a sprinkle of luck, the thing you were trying to do could very well happen.

    History Artbook
Celebrate the brand new, magical comic art of Simon the Sorcerer Origins with this digital artbook and discover all the secrets behind the return of the most famous wizard in video game history!

    Official Soundtrack
The complete soundtrack of Simon the Sorcerer Origins – more than 50 minutes of new and rearranged music from Simon the Sorcerer, by renowned composer Mason Fisher.

  • Build island factory towns for fat cats in Whiskerwood, the latest sooty strategy sim from Hooded Horse and the Railgrade devs

    [ad_1]

Whenever possible, I like to sucker-punch everybody’s weekend plans by blogging the release of a huge 4X strategy game, factory sim or other managerial timesink last thing on Friday. In this case, I’m ambushing you with the avid rodent carpentry of Whiskerwood, the new city builder from Railgrade developers Minakata Dynamics and Manor Lords publishers Hooded Horse. It’s got 40 different commodities, an elaborate weather simulation, and a demo out now on Steam. Haha, yes! You are welcome.

In Whiskerwood, you are a mouse mayor setting up island colonies on behalf of some bastard fat cats. Yes, this one’s a straight-shooting allegory, but going by the release date trailer, any transferable learnings about the plight of the mouse proletariat come a distinct second to the joy of plaiting conveyor belts.

  • The adaptation you’ve been waiting for since 1996 is finally here: Bop It! is now a videogame

    [ad_1]

Videogames are great but don’t you wish they had more bopping? And not just more bopping, but also more twisting and pulling, perhaps of… I don’t know, some sort of nebulous… it? And most importantly, a loud voice telling you exactly when you should bop it, twist it, and/or pull it?

Your oddly specific prayers have finally been answered, because nearly 30 years after the discovery of the cursed Pandora’s Box-like artifact known as Bop It!—which demanded its user perform ritualistic bopping, twisting, and pulling of its button, knob, and handle in the precise pattern needed to finally release the prophesied Loud One, known as Bophomet, upon the world to reign for all time—is now a videogame.

  • How to Survive Your First Nights in Dying Light: The Beast – Xbox Wire

    [ad_1]

    Summary

    • Dying Light: The Beast is available now for Xbox Series X|S and features relentless zombies, brutal combat, and some of the scariest nights.
    • Kyle Crane is has returned — but something has changed in him.
    • Game Director Nathan Lemaire shares essential tips you should know before you play.

Today is a very special day for us at Techland. After years of hard work, we are thrilled to finally unleash the next chapter of the Dying Light franchise – Dying Light: The Beast! This game is the culmination of everything we’ve learned in more than a decade, pushing the boundaries of survival horror, action and parkour to their limits.

You’ll step into the shoes of Kyle Crane – the hero of the original Dying Light – once more, but he’s a changed man. Captured and tortured for years, he’s been subject to brutal experiments that have twisted his DNA. They tried to break him. They created the Beast. Turned into a hybrid of human and monster, you’ll have inhuman strength, allowing you to rip zombies apart with your bare hands and leap further than ever before. But these powers come with a price: you’re constantly on the verge of losing control, and the world outside the lab is a hell of its own.

Welcome to Castor Woods, a stunning yet deadly open world where every corner holds a new story of survival. We’ve poured our hearts into creating a truly immersive environment, from an old touristy town – the perfect parkour paradise – to dense forests and swamps – taking your fear to the next level if night creeps up on you while you’re out there. The dynamic weather and lighting systems make this world feel alive, and the tension is palpable.

When the sun sets and the true horrors come out, you’ll feel that shift from hunter to hunted in your bones. The Volatiles are back and they are more relentless than ever. They’re faster, smarter, and deadlier than ever with increased senses making it easier for them to notice you and once they do, hunt you in packs. You’ll really need to run, hide or fight.

And you haven’t even met the deadliest enemies of all – the Chimeras. Just like Kyle, they were twisted experiments from Baron’s lab – meaty monstrosities with one purpose only: kill! Everything about them tells you to run, but you need their blood to unlock new Beast skills of your own…

What You Should Know Before You Start

When you step into Castor Woods, you will feel the grounded realism and nail-biting survival horror – Dying Light: The Beast is not just another action game, you need to be smart to survive. To help you get started on your journey, our Game Director Nathan Lemaire shared some of his top tips for new players.

    • Be careful of Biters: Kyle has been weakened by years of experiment and isolation. While a biter alone poses no threat, in groups they are deadly. Think before engaging a bigger group and don’t hesitate to use crowd control tools such as Molotov or decoys.
    • Be smart, not dead: Remember that Dying Light is a survival horror game. Your sharpest weapon is not a blade or a gun or a saw-blade launcher (even though this one is much fun!) – it’s your brain. In a world where everything wants to kill you, you need to pick your fights wisely. Use your parkour skills or stealth because every sound might attract more zombies to your location and an easy situation can quickly turn into an uncontrollable fight for survival.
    • Crafting is the key: Crafting tools and weapons are very important to survive and expand your abilities to tackle harder challenges. Explore Dark Zones, where you will find many components to craft. Each Dark zone also contains a unique item, for people who like collecting!
    • Safe Zones are your beacons in the darkness of nights: While exploring Castor Woods, you will find abandoned safe zones or safe spots ready to be activated again. They will provide you a safe haven, where you will be able to pass time, check your stash, and access a workbench to expand your crafting capabilities. Watch out for these and unlock them so they are prepared when you need them – don’t wait until it’s too late!
    • Look out for Fuel: Fuel is important to keep your vehicles running, but also to craft munition for your flamethrower. Fortunately, old vehicles across the valley may have some left in their tank. And if you would like a good supply, look out for gas stations.
    • Change your pace at Night: During the Night, Volatiles are roaming. They are all around you and are attracted to noises and your flashlight. When venturing out at night, you need to slow down the pace and be mindful of your surroundings to avoid them spotting you. And if they spot you and start chasing you, run as fast as you can, try to lose them, or run to the closest safe zone or safe spot.

We can’t wait for you to experience Kyle’s newest adventure and to reveal all the secrets we carefully hid all over the Castor Woods. Get ready to unleash the Beast within you! Dying Light: The Beast is available today for Xbox Series X|S.
