Two people were inside the car as it flipped over in Northeast DC, one of whom was taken to the hospital after a leg injury.

WASHINGTON — The car that crashed into a U.S. Marshal Service vehicle Northeast D.C. and then overturned during a police pursuit Wednesday morning was reported stolen, U.S. Park Police say.

Two people were inside the car as it flipped over, one of whom was taken to the hospital for a leg injury.

Both people inside were arrested after not pulling over for police and leading officers on a chase. Park Police said officers noticed what they described as a phony license plate placed onto the car that had been reported stolen.

As more federal law enforcement came to back up the Park Police chase, the car then reportedly crashed into a U.S. Marshal Service vehicle and then flipped over, putting an end to the chase.

The crash was first reported by the Metropolitan Police Department’s traffic division at around 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Central Avenue Northeast. Traffic was blocked in both directions at the nearby 2900 block of Central Avenue.

One of the two people arrested for the crash was taken to the hospital with a leg injury. No injuries were reported by Park Police or the US Marshal Service officers.

The criminal charges filed against the two people inside the car were unspecified as the investigation into the crash continued Wednesday afternoon.
