Two adults and one child were displaced by the two-alarm blaze.
GERMANTOWN, Md. — A family is without a place to live after a car caught fire and spread to a Germantown home on Tuesday evening.
Montgomery County firefighters were called to a reported vehicle fire in the 20800 block Gaelic Court around 6 p.m. When firefighters got to the scene, they found flames from a Toyota Venza had extended to a townhome. Crews called a second alarm to get additional resources to the scene and bring the fire under control.
A spokesperson for the police department said a man was rescued from a back deck of the home as he was unable to get out of the house on his own. Two adults and one child were accounted for and unhurt.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control before it damaged neighboring homes. In total, the fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to the home.
The Red Cross is helping the three people displaced.
