California rain and snow updates: Chain controls in effect as Sierra snow falls

Friday, Nov. 19:45 p.m.: Caltrans told KCRA 3 eastbound Interstate 80 is closed from Cisco Road to Kingvale in the Sierra because of accidents involving drivers that without chains on their vehicles. It is likely to reopen by 10:10 p.m. 9:15 p.m.: Chain controls are in effect on eastbound Interstate 80 from Nyack to Donner Lake Interchange. 8:50 p.m.: KCRA 3’s Peyton Headlee captured snow coming down in Cisco Grove. 7:40 p.m.: Steady rainfall reaches downtown Sacramento.
