Brush fire erupts, threatens structures in Laguna Niguel amid SoCal heat wave

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (KABC) — A brush fire erupted Wednesday afternoon and is threatening structures in Laguna Niguel, officials said.

The so-called Beacon Fire broke out near Ridgeway Avenue and Alcott Place at around 3:26 p.m., according to authorities.

The Orange County Fire Authority is on scene actively battling the flames.

It has burned 3 acres. No structures have been lost, according to OCFA.

Evacuation orders are in place for Copps Hill Street while a shelter-in-place order was issued for Middleton and Alcott Places.

A temporary shelter is open at Crown Valley Community Center located at 29752 Crown Valley Parkway.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

This comes as a heat wave scorches Southern California.
