A 65-year-old man kicked off the fire escape of his Bronx apartment building later died from brain and spinal cord injuries — and his roommate has been charged with murder, police said Thursday.

Victim Kevin Madison was hanging out with people in the bedroom of his second-floor apartment on Cruger Ave. near Mace Ave. in Allerton when his 33-year-old roommate stepped inside about 5:55 a.m. Sept. 3, cops said.

The roommate, Kymasa Holmes, demanded everyone leave the room so he could be alone with his girlfriend. That sparked a confrontation with Madison who grabbed a knife, police said.

Holmes punched and kicked Madison multiple times, forcing him onto the fire escape, according to cops and prosecutors.

He then kicked Madison off the fire escape, sending his roommate plummeting 20 feet to the sidewalk below, police said.

Medics rushed Madison to Jacobi Medical Center with bleeding on the brain and fractured vertebrae.

Holmes was arrested for attempted murder a month later on Nov. 4, police said.

Madison died Nov. 24 and his death was deemed a homicide by the city Medical Examiner.

Holmes is now charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and assault. He is being held without bail on Rikers Island and is due back in court March 15.

The suspect has two prior arrests, for weapon possessionand marijuana possession.
