Brief shower possible overnight, snow in portions of the mountains

[ad_1]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

This Evening & Overnight

Snow is mixing in with rain across portions of the mountains, especially 4,000 feet and above. This is a little earlier than normal as we typically see this conditions closer to early November. The earliest recorded snowfall ever in North Carolina was on Beech Mountain back on Oct. 1, 2011, but this certainly could be in the top five.

Some rain is possible after midnight but it should be gone by sunrise. Lows will drop to the low-mid 40s across the piedmont with even colder weather in the mountains.

Wednesday

Tomorrow will be the coldest day of the week by a landslide across the Charlotte area. Highs will barely reach the upper 50s to lower 60s under a mix of sun and clouds.

Overnight, lows will drop to the mid-upper 30s for the first time since spring across our area. Lows will hover in the 20s for parts of the mountains, especially at the highest elevations.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday and Friday will still be in the mid-upper 60s but abundant sunshine will make it feel slightly better! Friday morning is likely the coldest morning with a low near 35 degrees.

Tropical Update

There is no tropical threat to the United States or Carolinas over the next week!
