Brandon Lanci: CEO and Founder of Milana Custom Homes

[ad_1]

Brandon Lanci has been passionate about building for as long as he can remember. He comes from a long line of electricians and engineers — even his ancestors in Italy were builders. So it’s no surprise the married father of four founded Milana Custom Homes, named after his eldest daughter, to build quality homes from the ground up.

ABOUT ME

Building was something I was extremely passionate about. It’s something my family, from generation to generation has always done. I love the history of Tampa. I don’t stick to one type of architecture — I love all architecture. The new buildings on Bayshore are amazing. The University of Tampa. I even love the clubhouse at Palma Ceia. What’s great about Tampa is that it’s a melting pot of modern, traditional, colonial and farmhouse architecture. It’s a very blended city.

MY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

When I’m not working, I really enjoy hanging out with my family, playing golf and going to Indian Rocks Beach.

For a day out with the family, it depends on the season, but I’d probably start on Davis Islands with breakfast at Farrell’s on the Island. Then we’d walk the Riverwalk, visit Armature Works and, in the afternoon, catch a Lightning game. I love the Lightning. I love hockey. My kids are obsessed with it, so we kind of tailor our lifestyle around going to games. If it’s an early game on a weekend, we’ll usually head to The Stovall House afterward.

A hidden gem where my wife and I often go is Osteria Natalina, an Italian restaurant just south of Bay to Bay. The food is awesome, and the people are amazing. Another hidden gem is DI Coffee Bar. The ambiance is great. Davis Islands has this unique vibe where you can be doing business while Lightning players walk by—just a really good place to be.

Bel Mar Saloon, The Dog Saloon “Red Dog” and Pete’s Place are in my regular rotation. I love the old Tampa staples. When it comes to newer restaurants, Sunda New Asian and Noble Rice are two favorites—I love Asian cuisine. I’m also a member at The Stovall House, and what they’re doing there is really impressive.

For special occasions, if it’s a party i’m celebrating, I’ll go to Rocca or Ocean Prime.

As for dishes I wish more people knew about, my wife would probably say the spicy lychee martini at Noble Rice. For me, it’s the tomahawk ribeye at Ocean Prime.

When it comes to art, I like historical artifacts. Tampa has a ton of history—whether it’s shark teeth at Egmont Key or rummaging through old lots and finding Tampa memorabilia through my job.

To enjoy the outdoors, I’ll go to Indian Rocks Beach, rollerblade on Bayshore with my son (who loves hockey), or play golf at one of Tampa’s historic courses—many of which are well-known in the golf community.

For live music, my go-to spot is Pete’s Place because I enjoy singing karaoke. But if I had to choose one live music venue in Tampa, I’d say Skipper’s Smokehouse. They host some great blues and folk musicians, but I do think Tampa could use more live music spots.
