CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Joseph D. Freedman Bowl-a-thon returned to Bowlero Chicopee on Saturday, raising over $70,000 for Camphill Village Copake, which supports adults with developmental disabilities.
The event, which had been on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, offered a day of bowling, pizza, games, and prizes to attendees. It also featured an online auction for those unable to attend in person.
“The residents of Camphill Village don’t pay an admission fee to live in Camphill Village. It’s an amazing place and we rely heavily on donations and private contributions for that,” said Christine Pizzuti, Camphill Village Copake Communications and Public Relations Manager.
Since its inception, the Bowl-a-thon has raised more than $600,000 for Camphill Village Copake. The funds are crucial for maintaining the community, which oversees 100 adults with developmental disabilities.
The Bowl-a-thon is a significant fundraiser for Camphill Village Copake, helping to cover the costs of supporting its residents without charging them admission fees.
The successful return of the Bowl-a-thon highlights the community’s ongoing support for Camphill Village Copake and its mission to provide a nurturing environment for adults with developmental disabilities.
