Body of missing swimmer found on Siesta Key

SARASOTA, Fla. — The body of a boater reported missing Sunday night has been found.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Jose Daniel Venta Ciro, 23, of Sarasota was recovered late Monday afternoon in the area of 9150 Blind Pass Rd. on Siesta Key.

A passing boater notified the sheriff’s office, which was already conducting recovery efforts for the missing swimmer about a fourth of a mile north of where the body was located.

The remains were positively identified as Ciro.

According to the Coast Guard, Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies and county firefighters responded to Turtle Beach Sunday just after 7 p.m. in response to three struggling swimmers.

Two swimmers were rescued but Ciro went under water.
