SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One person died in a Sacramento home explosion Thursday morning.

A fire department spokesperson told ABC10 that a body was recovered from the home.

The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the home on the 4000 block of 39th St. after neighbors reported the fire around 6:15 a.m. The home is about two blocks north of Christian Brothers High School.

The explosion shook doors, broke windows, and showered a yard with debris, a neighbor told ABC10.

“When they arrived, there were there were multiple explosions that were happening, as well as an explosion reported prior to their arrival,” Sacramento Fire Dept Captain Justin Sylvia said.  Once they did arrive, “There’s some windows that are blown out, so some obvious type of explosion. We’re just trying to figure out what caused that explosion.”

Streets around the home are blocked off.

The home was too damaged for fire crews to attempt to put out, Sylvia said.

The fire spread to the attic of a neighboring home and another outbuilding.
