Beyoncé Makes History as “Texas Hold ’Em” Tops Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart
[ad_1]
One of Beyoncéâs new songs, âTexas Hold âEm,â has landed at No. 1 on Billboardâs Hot Country Songs chart, Billboard reports. She is now the first Black woman to ever hold the spot, Variety notes. The superstarâs â16 Carriages,â released simultaneously, also charted at No. 9 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Both songs are Beyoncéâs first entries on the chart.
âTexas Hold âEmâ has also been serviced to country radio, and has since become Beyoncéâs first entry on the Country Airplay chart, too, debuting at No. 54. Last year, Tracy Chapman became the first Black woman to hit No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart as a sole songwriter with Luke Combsâ cover of her 1988 song âFast Car.â
âTexas Hold âEmâ and â16 Carriagesâ appear on Beyoncéâs forthcoming eighth solo studio album, Act II, set for release on March 29. The singer revealed the news in a teaser video on her Instagram during the broadcast of a Verizon commercial she appeared in that aired during the Super Bowl LVIII. Act II, the second part of a planned trilogy, follows her 2022 album, Renaissance. The Renaissance world tour was captured in a concert film that played in theaters worldwide.
