Beef Class Action Settlement (2014 – 2019)

It’s alleged that several beef processors including JBS, Cargill, National Beef, and Tyson Foods conspired to limit the supply of beef and increase prices. Two of the defendants, Tyson Foods, Inc., and Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. (“Tyson”) and Cargill, Inc., and Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation (“Cargill”) have denied any wrong doing but agreed to settlements totaling $87.5 million.

Who’s Eligible?

If you purchased any of the listed beef products for personal consumption between  August 1, 2014, and December 31, 2019 you are eligible.

How Much?

The settlement pool is $87.5 million. The amount you receive will be pro-rata based on how much beef you purchased during the class action period.

How To Claim?

Important Dates

  • March 30, 2026: Deadline to Exclude Yourself from the Settlement
  • March 30, 2026: Deadline to Object to the Settlements
  • May 12, 2026: Fairness Hearing
  • June 30, 2026: Deadline to Submit a Claim Form

Our Verdict

Obviously a lot of people are going to be eligible, how much you receive really depends on how many people bother to file a claim and how much beef you purchased during that period. Given how small the settlement pool is I doubt you’ll receive much, but sometimes these things surprise you.
