Avatar: The Last Airbender: Miya Cech is Toph Beifong

During that whole Netflix shebang, they announced that not only is Avatar season 2 in the works, but they cast fan-favorite Toph Beifong with Miya Cech.

She is best known as the younger version of Ali Wong’s character in the Netflix romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe,” released in 2019…and of Ali Wong’s character in an episode of the Netflix series “Beef.”

Toph was first introduced in Book 2 of the original “Last Airbender” animated series. Born blind to a wealthy and overprotective family, Toph uses her earthbending to sense the world around her and is considered to be the greatest Earthbender in the world and don’t you dunderheads ever forget it.

Toph is my favorite and she has been since before I even saw the show; There were people wondering why she isn’t blind, and I get that would be hard to cast. Netflix says they had open casting, but they also cast a guy who (allegedly) lied about his Indigenous heritage to play Sokka so…I doubt how much they tried.

“It’s important that she embodies the character” she can embody Toph all she wants, it’s the showrunners who seem to struggle with it.
