As winter slowly fades and spring begins to unfold, August and September have brought a collection of unforgettable moments, both in the wilderness and within the lodge.
In this blog, I’ve gathered some of our favourite Instagram Reels from the past two months. They feature everything from a magical outdoor bath at the Private Granite Suites and thrilling lion and leopard encounters to a look inside the Londolozi Living Boutique, where curated treasures bring the spirit of the reserve home.
Let us know in the comments which clip you enjoyed the most.
1. An Outdoor Bath at the Private Granite Suites
Unwind in the golden light of sunset at the Private Granite Suites. This reel captures the simple yet unforgettable experience of an outdoor bath surrounded by nature.
2. Celebrating World Lion Day
We marked World Lion Day by celebrating the remarkable behaviour and dynamics of these apex predators that shape the wilderness experience in the Sabi Sand. This reel shares a heartwarming moment between a lioness and her cub.
3. Celebrating World Elephant Day
After celebrating World Lion Day, we turned our attention to the gentle giants of the wilderness for World Elephant Day. This reel captures a remarkable sighting of a herd of elephants calmly making their way through the land as a pride of lions looks on.
4. The Ngungwe Female Leopard & Her Cub
It is always special to witness a leopard cub in such a relaxed and close setting. This reel shares a rare glimpse of the Ngungwe female leopard with her cub.
5. The Magic of Londolozi
This reel captures the true magic of Londolozi, showcasing everything from unforgettable game drives and luxurious accommodation to enchanting starry nights, the soulful energy of the Londolozi Choir, and so much more. It’s a glimpse into the unforgettable experiences that make this place so special.
6. When Your Dinner Weighs More Than You Do…
Watch as the Three Rivers Female leopard hoists a full-grown male impala into the branches of a weeping boer-bean tree. This impressive feat is even more remarkable considering the carcass likely weighs more than she does. Before the hoist, she had already gutted the impala, a common tactic leopards use to lighten the load and make the climb into the canopy easier.
7. Londolozi From Above
This reel offers a unique perspective of Londolozi, captured from above, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the reserve from a whole new angle.
8. The Nkoveni female leopard
In this reel, we see the Nkoveni female leopard navigate the Sand River with ease, a reminder of how adaptable leopards are.
9. Come and Find Your Wild Self
There’s a part of you that remembers what it feels like to be truly alive, before the world told you who to be, before the endless “shoulds” and deadlines. That wild self has been patiently waiting, quietly camouflaged beneath the layers of modern life.
10. A Curious Hyena Gets a Little Too Close…
The Nkoveni Male leopard is growing into his independence. His journey will soon push him beyond familiar territory, but for now, he’s asserting himself with fearless determination.
11. Golden Grazing Hour
Some of the bush’s most magical moments come when everything is calm and unhurried. Watching zebras graze in the golden light reminds us that being present is often about noticing the small details, such as the flick of a tail, the shine of the grass, and the subtle movements around us.
12. Balancing Act in the Treetops
It’s leapfrog in the treetops as the Nkoveni leopard duo attempt to share a hoisted kill…
13. When Giants and Hunters Cross Paths
A unique sighting in the wilderness. Watch as a rare duo appears with an elephant calmly drinking while a wild dog quietly moves behind it.
14. Three Rivers Leopard’s Hoist Attempt
We’ve followed the journey of the Three Rivers female leopard from her days as a cub to establishing her territory along the Sand River and at Londolozi. In this reel, we witness her incredible determination as she attempts to lift a massive impala ram, an impressive effort even though she doesn’t quite succeed.
15. Close-up with the Gijima Male Lion
The Gijima Male Lion passes so close you can almost feel the weight of every step. Moments like this are a rare privilege, born from years of respect and careful conservation. This environment allows wild animals to feel safe in our presence. Each step beside the vehicle is a powerful reminder of the trust we have been granted and the extraordinary encounters that come with it.
16. The Londolozi Living Boutique
The Londolozi Living Boutique is where safari spirit meets thoughtful curation. It’s more than just souvenirs. It’s about finding something that brings a bit of Londolozi home with you.
This reel gives you a peek inside the shop, where you’ll find everything from safari essentials to special treasures handpicked by the Varty family. Many of these support local artists and celebrate African craftsmanship.
As we close the chapter on August and September, we invite you to follow us on Instagram for more videos and unforgettable moments from Londolozi.
