A man who was armed with a weapon was shot and killed by deputies Sunday evening, just outside of Turlock, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.The sheriff’s office said a deputy fired their weapon at the man, after he charged at them with a weapon in his hand. At 3:51 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of N Quincy Road in unincorporated Turlock on a report of a suspicious person. Initial reports say the suspect was trespassing on a property and was armed with a weapon. Deputies arrived on scene with a Turlock police K-9 officer and they found the armed man. They made several attempts to de-escalate the situation with less-lethal options being used, but he refused and would not comply and drop his weapon, the sheriff’s office said.The suspect was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries. No injuries were reported from deputies involved.The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating, as well as detectives from the Major Crimes Unit, officials said.
