they cut it from the broadcast so it’s not really clear how exactly is played out, but Carey Mulligan was wrongly announced as having won best supporting actress (Kerry Condon won)

“[Troy Kotsur] was signing in [American Sign Language]. And on stage we had someone with him signing in [British Sign Language]. And on the floor was someone with a mic translating the sign language to speech. And it was a very unfortunate mistranslation that played out.”
