Amtrak train hits and kills person in Garner

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) — One person is dead after being hit by an Amtrak train in Garner Thursday morning.

Garner police tell Eyewitness News it happened around 10:33 a.m. near the Jones Sausage Road crossing that has since reopened.

This is the fourth incident of this kind in a week in the Triangle.

An Amtrak train killed pedestrian in Durham near Duke campus on Wednesday and a CXS train hit and killed a person on the tracks in Johnston County on Tuesday morning.
