Alleged Vallejo freeway shooter arrested: CHP

(KRON) — A Richmond resident accused of a freeway shooting in Vallejo was arrested, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A victim was shot while driving eastbound Interstate 780, east of Glencove Road on Saturday. The victim then pulled over right to the shoulder of the freeway to contact authorities. CHP Solano officers responded around 5:30 a.m. and learned the victim was taken to the hospital.

CHP’s Golden Gate Division and Special Investigations Unit detectives also responded to the scene. According to the investigation, detectives obtained the suspect’s vehicle description, leading to 40-year-old Mohamed Ahmed Rafel Ali as the primary suspect. 

Police said at 5 p.m., detectives located and arrested Ali at his residence in Richmond.

Ali was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and firing a weapon at an occupied vehicle.
