A rug store in Raleigh is closing after more than a dozen years in business.
Legacy Oriental Rugs, which offers handmade rugs of all sizes, is shutting down soon. The building on Glenwood Avenue that hosts the store is being torn down, a store manager reached by phone told The News & Observer.
Located in the Pleasant Valley Promenade shopping center, the store is holding a going-out-of-business sale. Rugs are available at discounted prices, around 80%-85% off, the store manager said.
Thousands of wool and silk rugs of varying sizes and styles are still available, the manager said.
The manager could not give a specific last day to shop, but said the store would likely be closed by the end of February.
The store at 6728 Glenwood Ave., Suite 204 in Raleigh is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. Delivery is available to nearby locations in Raleigh, but the manager said most rugs can be folded and transported in customers’ cars.
Legacy Oriental Rugs will not reopen in a different location, the manager said. Its owner is retiring.
Pleasant Valley Promenade changes
A Sprouts Farmers Market grocery store is headed to the Glenwood Avenue shopping center, The N&O previously reported. Pleasant Valley Promenade currently houses retailers including Marshalls, Ulta Beauty, Boot Barn and Petco.
Preliminary construction plans submitted to the City of Raleigh show that part of the shopping center will be demolished to make way for the Sprouts and two other commercial buildings.
Sprouts told The N&O in July that the store would open in early 2027.
There are seven Sprouts stores in North Carolina, including two in the Triangle. One is on NC Highway 54 in Durham, and another is on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh.
