A Mass. waterfront hotel is hosting a Golden Retriever getaway

A waterfront hotel on Cape Cod will go to the dogs this month as Golden Retrievers take over the property for a special weekend in their honor.

Sea Crest Beach Resort‘s second Golden Getaway will take place Oct. 18-20 in North Falmouth with programming designed for Golden Retrievers and their owners. The first such getaway was held in May and the resort posted video and photos on Facebook of the dogs enjoying their stay.

The hotel’s Chief Experience Officer, Cooper the Golden Retriever, will preside over the festivities, which will include a barbecue dinner, Pup Polar Plunge on Old Silver Beach, a Halloween costume contest, a Yappy Hour, and a walk on the scenic Shining Sea Bikeway, a paved rail trail that stretches from North Falmouth to Woods Hole.

The resort’s starting rate this month is $159 and Golden Getaway travelers receive a discount, which varies depending on the room type. Guests also enjoy a waived pet fee and will receive a special amenity for the dog of honor. 

Cooper brings experience to his role — he is the former “Chief Happiness Officer” at Equinox Resort & Spa in Vermont, which hosted a Golden Getaway in the summer of 2023.

Vermont is no stranger to Golden Retriever events, with Golden Dog Farm in Jefferson offering its popular “Golden Retriever Experience” favored by travel TikTokers.
