US Marshal fatally shot 43-year-old Julian Marquette Bailey in Northeast DC amid reports of a gun threat.
WASHINGTON — DC police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed by US Marshals in Northeast on Wednesday.
Police say they were responding to a report of a person making threats with a gun when they arrived at the scene near the intersection of Kenilworth Terrace and Hayes Street, Northeast, around 2:12 p.m.
Once there, police located the alleged victim, while members of the US Marshals and the United States Park Police found the suspect in the 3700 block of Hayes Street, Northeast.
According to MPD, a Marshal shot the suspect during the incident. They say no DC police were at the scene when the Marshal fired his weapon.
The man has been identified as 43-year-old Julian Marquette Bailey of Northeast.
Law enforcement tried to administer life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.
Police have not indicated what led up to the deadly shooting.
MPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.
They say the investigation will then be turned over to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
