CLEVELAND (WJW) — A man who was pulled from Lake Erie on Monday evening has died, Cleveland Metroparks officials confirmed.
Cleveland Metroparks police and other first responders were called to Edgewater Beach around 5:30 p.m. after surfers found a body in the water, according to officials.
Crews at the scene started performing life-saving measures and the victim, a 72-year-old, was taken to a nearby medical facility, but he was pronounced dead. His identity hasn’t been released.
The victim’s cause of death will be investigated by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Cleveland Division of Fire, the U.S. Coast Guard and Cleveland EMS also responded to the attempted water rescue.
