Father arrested after infant dies at Sacramento hospital

(FOX40.COM) — An infant died on Tuesday at a Sacramento area hospital and the father was placed in custody, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers arrived at the hospital just before 10 a.m. after the mother arrived with her infant, who showed signs of multiple injuries, according to police.

Hospital staff attempted life-saving measures but the child died at the hospital.

Police said that detectives learned that the child’s father, 22, was a possible suspect and was detained.

He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and faces charges of homicide.
