This ancient city in Southern Italy was once a thriving area, not until the eruption of the still-active Mount Vesuvius.

You can reach Pompeii from Naples by train, bus, car pool, ferry, car, tour and taxi. The road distance between Naples and Pompeii is 25.4 kilometres or 15.78 miles while the direct distance is 21.4 kilometres or 13.2 miles. It takes about 28 minutes to travel this distance by car. 

As you can see, Naples and Pompeii are very close to each other, so a quick trip is totally possible. Let’s look at the most common ways to get to Pompeii from Naples.

How to get from Naples to Pompeii

OPTION 1: How to get from Naples to Pompeii by Train

The trains leave from Naples P.za Garibaldi station and arrive at Pompei Station.
