1. Police searching for Ballston robbery suspect

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a robbery suspect. Police said the suspect robbed the McDonald’s on Church Avenue in the town of Ballston around 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

2. Jury convicts Schenectady mom of killing 10-month-old daughter

After a 16-day trial, a Schenectady County jury has found Persia Nelson guilty of killing her 10-month-old daughter in March 2024. NEWS10 Reporter Payton Cavanaugh was in the courtroom when Nelson was convicted on a unanimous vote of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child after her daughter, Halo Branton, was dropped into a shed-like structure into shallow water on the GE campus in Schenectady.

3. Watervliet man found guilty of 2024 dirt bike crash, leaving the scene

An Albany County jury has convicted a Watervliet man of an April 2024 dirt bike crash that left a University at Albany student severely injured and then leaving the scene of the crash. Austin Breyette was found guilty of second-degree assault, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.

4. Albany man charged with murder of sister

Police have identified both the suspect and victim of a domestic homicide investigation in Albany. Alphonso Lester, 60, of Albany, was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of his sister, 61-year-old Angela Helms.

5. Spa City reacts to new speed limit

New speed limit signs went up in Saratoga Springs this week after the City Council voted to lower the limit from 30 to 25 miles per hour throughout the city.
