5 fun ways to use Instagram’s new audio feature – ReverbNation Blog
[ad_1]
Once upon a time you could only add one track to a video when promoting your music with Instagram Reels.
BORING.
Well, no more.
Because Instagram decided to jump right from 1 track to…
20 tracks per video!
Because incremental progress is too incremental.

What is Instagram’s newest audio feature?
According to a Threads post from Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, creators can now add up to 20 different audio tracks to a single Reels video.
Yep, multitrack audio!
So you can get more precise, more ambitious, or more experimental when creating Reels. And you don’t have to feel anchored to a single music track, voiceover, or sound effect.

Fans who love the audio clip can save and reuse the new sound you edited together using those multiple tracks. So there’s lots of opportunities for viral and trending audio to be reimagined (to an even greater degree than a “typical” trending sound).
Of course you can still use other elements as well, such as text, stickers, and clips to make your Reels as engaging as possible.
How to add up to 20 audio tracks to your next Instagram Reel
If you’ve created Reels in the past, the process is pretty intuitive.
But if you need a tutorial, here’s a quick walkthrough:
So now that you know how to add multiple tracks to a Reel, let’s think of some ways to do this in service of your own music.
5 Instagram Reel ideas to promote your music using multiple audio tracks:
1. Greatest Hits montage
Put a Reel together that quickly runs through a handful of the songs you’re most proud of! Same could go for your “biggest flops.”
2. Concert setlists
Did you capture good photos from your set last night? Pair them with the studio recordings of the songs you performed, in the order you played them live.
3. Your favorite theme
How about a highlight Reel of some of your best guitar solos, synth hooks, or lyrical lines? Or your most embarrassing (in hindsight) lyrics.
4. Before and After
We love to witness transformations. From demo to studio gem. From a song by another artist who inspired you, to your own unique composition.
5. Unlikely mashups
Got two sections of two different songs that sound like they belong together? Or how about two sections that absolutely DON’T belong together but sound hilarious? Mashup!
How will YOU use multitrack audio in Reels?
