CLEVELAND (WJW) — A 20-year-old man who reportedly admitted to drinking before causing a crash that killed a 51-year-old bicyclist earlier this month is now under indictment.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury this week handed up an four-count indictment charging Kamarion T. Jordan, 20, of Cleveland, with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle after underage alcohol consumption and operating a vehicle while under the influence.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the intersection of East 128th Street and Kinsman Road, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the FOX 8 I-Team.

County prosecutors on Tuesday said Jordan was driving “recklessly” west on Kinsman Road, doing 90 mph in what is a 35-mph zone.

He struck 51-year-old Yvonne Kemp as she was turning onto Kinsman Road from the southbound lane of East 128th Street, according to prosecutors. His vehicle then went off the road and hit a utility pole near East 126th Street.

Kemp was pronounced dead at the scene. Jordan was later arrested by Cleveland police, according to prosecutors.

Jordan showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and admitted to drinking alcohol before the crash, according to the affidavit.

His blood alcohol content was tested at 0.074%. That’s more than three times the legal limit for a person younger than 21 in Ohio, which is 0.02%. The legal limit for adults 21 and older is 0.08%.

“His reckless stupidity cost Yvonne Kemp her life and has devastated her family,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley wrote in a statement.

A Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Sept. 17 set Jordan’s bond at $25,000.

No future court dates have been set in the county court.
