More than a week after winter weather walloped the region, the mayor says work is still being done to clean up.

WASHINGTON — Mayor Muriel Bowser and other District leaders provided an update on how snow clean-up efforts are going following January’s high-impact winter storm. Bowser called the snow event “unprecedented” in a press conference on Monday.

While Bowser said progress is being made in clearing District roads and sidewalks of the heavy snow-ice mixture dubbed “snowcrete,” work is still being done.

The mayor also confirmed at least two weather-related deaths over the last week, with more possibly to be confirmed. She said both deaths were people experiencing homelessness in the D.C.

Residents who are in need of housing can call the Shelter Hotline and can request free transportation at 202-399-7093 or 311.
